  1. Where did I ever say, or even allude to suggesting Vidor is the favorite? **Edit** Nevermind, I read your message wrong. You're talking about the blind fans. I gotcha, buddy!
  2. I get that, but no team is ever the same as another. That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying Vidor will win, even though I'm rooting for them. I know and understand that Central is the favorite in a lot of peoples' minds, maybe even including mine. I just can't admit it due to my stubborn fan side. If Vidor wins, I'll probably view it as more of an upset, while others might use it as a "I told you so."
  3. The fan/alumni in me is going for the Pirates. But the realist in me knows that this game has the making to be too close to make a prediction about. I'd like to see Vidor just flat-out impose their will against the Jags. Moving the ball all night, seemingly saying "line up whoever you have, cause it wont be enough." BBBUUUUTTTT, I've seen Central play West Brook on tv while I was at the lake. Central is a tough team, no doubt. But also, like another poster mentioned, it's about matchups. Just because Central has played faster teams doesn't mean they have the edge over Vidor. Vidor is a punch-you-in-the-mouth, methodical team. I've played against teams that nobody gave us a chance to compete with...a lot of times, we've beaten those teams.
  4. I agree both teams played real well. They did make a lot of fumbles but who wouldn't in that type of weather. I know by playing football with my son it is hard to hold on to the ball in the rain or wet conditions. I just thank God thaqt no one got hurt seriously. As a mom I will be at all the games cheering on my son. I will be the loudest and most supportive fan in the stands and put it out there for all Vidor fans to show theire suppoort and come to the games. I will say I have a lot of respect for many of the Vidor fans. After the game they showed a lot of class towards the HJ team and staff as they walked back to the dressing room. I was very impressed with their sportsmanship. I find that's the case with nearly every team's fans. You get the occasional rotten fan that puts a bad mark in your memory, but generally, people are nice everywhere I've been. I had to sit in the Kelly stands for Vidor's first game, and they were a bit shocking..at one point chanting "F.U. Vidor (clap clap clap)" Even though it wasn't the entire Kelly crowd chanting, that's an example of the few bad fans that one remembers.
  5. It was pretty sloppy game from both teams. I've never seen so many fumbles from a combined effort. HJ had some good plays, and if they could have executed their spread attack, it would've been bad news for the Pirates. The Pirates did a good job of imposing their will in the run game, they just kept getting hit in the belly and fumbled. Same for HJ, as I said earlier. I do have to tip my hat to Vidor though for taking a few knews in the final minute, when they were on the 1yd line, and could've at least made it 41-14 (42 assuming XP is good)
  6. I'm not offended either. And I think you're right that Central is the team to beat, I feel the same way. I also agree that 4 playoff spots is way too much. I thought 3 was a lot too. The only thing I've had a problem with on this board, is the posters who are saying Vidor isn't worthy of the stats they've accumulated because they've played private schools in non-district.
  7. Yeah, Vidor has played private schools, but did the private schools not have 11 players on both sides of the ball? Were any of their players missing limbs, or in wheelchairs? 11 vs. 11 is still a football game. Also, lets not forget private schools can pretty much "recruit." Sounds like you're placing Vidor's success thus far on the grounds of no quality opponents. I mean, it's not rocket science to say it's had an obvious hand in padding the stats, but to suggest Vidor isn't capable of their stats is an insult to the kids, and the kids they've played against.
  8. I find the people who make absurd predictions about their team, while showing little respect for the abilities of other district sharing teams, are usually high school students, or one or two years removed from high school, and still have a blinding loyalty to their alma matter. Nobody with a right mind comes on a message board and says, "The only team that has a chance to beat us is _____" That's insanity. So, from a Vidorian to the rest of the board, Your teams' ability is respected in my eyes, I guess because I watch with both of them open. If Vidor comes out on top, hey, that's great. And if they don't, I'll probably agree with you in why they didn't.
  9. Lol, well that remains to be seen. I'm not trying to take anything away from the kids, but I saw Vidor miss some extra points, and that really makes me question the threat of field goals.
  10. I'm reserving judgement. I've only seen the Vidor vs. Kelly game, and there was too many mistakes to declare Vidor will roll over anyone. Also, I know nothing about Hardin Jefferson, and the team that will do the most damage is the one you dont see coming. (Even if it's non-district..it's still tough to sit around for 2 weeks thinking about a loss to a team you're predicted to cruise by) We'll see how it goes. I'm pulling for you, Vidor.
