  1. I'm disappointed by some of the retorts of the Raider faithful. I reserve judgment because I know the few big shots on here don't speak for the entire town. But 2 of my closest friends are former great Raider players, and even they can do simple "point/counter point" without sounding like babies.
  2. Lets not look past the fact that Central has a faster D than Vidor also. So, I don't see the Lumberton QB extending many plays the way he did against Vidor, scrambling around waiting for someone to get open.
  3. That's pretty harsh for a Moderator. lol I don't have any problems with Ozen. But I think Vidor will dominate the line of scrimmage and keep their speed off the field. Vidor by 17
  4. I felt like the calls were a little wild for both teams. But I laughed pretty hard when Lumberton was flagged for ineligible receiver downfield, and then the ref went over and slapped the player's butt. Inappropriate time for a "Good Game." lol
  5. Arguing over parking? Really? Is that what you're reduced to? Yeah, you lost the game because of mistakes. I think that statement could be applied to every team, that's ever lost a game. Thanks for the gift. Defense needs work? That same defense that kept you out of the endzone until the latter half of the 4th quarter? I don't predict you can do much with a one dimensional team, but so far, it's working for Vidor.
  6. I hate to make a prediction on slugfest like this one. But my instincts say Central takes the win. But like Cutlass said, Lumberton, if you want a chance to win, run the ball more (with your hard running backs, not the scrambling QB trying to extend the play waiting for a receiver to get open.)
  7. Here's something that blew my mind lastnight, that I'd like to discuss, and get away from all the garbage talk. In the 1st quarter, Vidor goes for it on 4th down, ref says it short. BUT THE CHAINS DIDN'T MOVE ONE INCH FROM WHERE LUMBERTON TOOK OVER. So that tells me that, The ball was spotted at the end of the chains. THEY DIDN'T EVEN MEASURE! I guess they eyeballed it? Couldn't Mathews request a measure? If so, I cant believe he didnt. I mean seriously, how do they say you're short, then spot the ball at the end of the chains (that don't move) and no measure?
  8. This is only to select few, not the entire Raider-Nation, L-Train passengers, or anything like that. Be classy, Raiders. No stripes were out to get you. How many times did Vidor convert long 3rd downs only to have them taken back even further? The fumble was a gift? I wasn't aware, but thank you. You ran good plays, and played hard. As good as your QB was/is, I thought he was your weakness in that game. He seemed hesitant on his reads, and spent a lot of time running around, many times extending the play, many other times, taking a sack. Your backs are tough, and ran great. Things are on the up and up in Lumberton. With all that new land development, people will move, and the quality of the team you field will only get better. (That's a scary thought, cause you already field a tough one.) But stay classy. I could just as easily say your only touchdown came as a gift in the form of a Vidor personal foul call, cause we had you at fourth down prior to that. But I wont say it, cause penalties are part of the game, even the stupid/selfish ones like the Vidor DB showed by whatever he did. You played hard, be proud.
  9. I'm not betting on them either, I'm not sure, but I think my prediction in a previous post was Central 52, LCM 28 (may have been 21, I can't fact check as I'm typing though.) I'm just saying..comparing opponents doesn't work in football. Some teams play other teams better than others. That's what makes football exciting..there's not an exact science to it..you play, and if you play hard and smart, you may get lucky.
  10. Yes we can. Correct me if I am wrong but all Vidor does is run the ball. Stop the run and shut down their offense completely. There is no "Plan B" for Vidor. Lumberton got some good film and expirence from Livingston with the mis-direction running they do (just like Vidor). We are young on defense but they have learned alot in four games this year. Looking at the Vidor opponets scoring, the defense is suspect. Lumberton will stop the run and the L-Train will keep on chugging away. And this is what we call a cockeyed optimist.
  11. Comparing opponents by the transitive property is foolish. If this were the case, wouldn't Vidor have been the undefeated district champs last year since they were the only ones to beat Lumberton? You are talking last year. I'm talking about last week. Wee bit of difference. The time is irrelevant. That wasn't the point. The point was, you cant say Team X can beat Team Y, based on the performance vs. a mutual opponent.
  12. Comparing opponents by the transitive property is foolish. If this were the case, wouldn't Vidor have been the undefeated district champs last year since they were the only ones to beat Lumberton?
  13. Well, they're just predictions. Like I said, I haven't seen LCM play. Here's a chance to make a statement. Good luck to you.
  14. Admittedly, I don't know much about LC-M this year. So this is a prediction based solely on having seen Central. I sincerly believe Central's strongest suit is their run game..those backs sure are tough to bring down, and they will make some plays with 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th efforts if given the chance. Central 52 LCM 28.
  15. I totally understand, and I didn't mean to make an unfair generalization of Lumberton or its fans. I was speaking of the poster's own "Lumberton arrogance." Every team has one of these posters, it seems. Sorry to catalogue the good fans into the mix by my broad reply. It's ok to make predictions, but you're getting insulting, is the issue I've taken up with your posts. Insulting all of Vidor's non-distict opponents, insulting Central, Livingston, and Vidor. You must be a student, cause no adult would be so loose lipped. Or loose fingered I should say.
  16. LOL! Lumberton arrogance...that's funny stuff. I guess 2-3 years of being decent makes you bullet-proof?
  17. If they were blown out, I could see that being a point. But I wouldn't take a game you played great in as a lingering handicap. (Minus the fumbles of course)
  18. Rushes/Yds 71/430 I'd say they punched plenty hard. The last play, egh, I would've gone QB sneak, but maybe that's just me. Having been a center, I know you can punch hard enough on initial contact to generate enough momentum and allow the QB to follow on your coat-tails to go in from 1.5yds out. If I were the coach I would have said.."QB sneak, on touch..just follow your center home." But I'm not second guessing Mathews at all. He's never done me wrong, and I wont be one to bad mouth him.
  19. I said I hoped it would work vs. Central, and it did. And since it worked so well vs. Central, I'm feeling confident. So, again I say "Line up whoever you have, cause it wont be enough." Those Vidor boys will punch you in the mouth, and make you like it.
  20. Well that's pretty irrelevant. Not to mention silly.. but didn't Vidor beat that district champ team last year.
  21. I'm ok with the loss.. I think it's pretty rare that a team loses, and turns more heads than the team that wins. The scoreboard may have said loss, but Vidor earned some points scoreboards cant measure. I mean, I was really convinced it was going to be an ugly game for Vidor, but we gave Central everything they could ask for. We pushed them to the brink. I firmly believe that was a game where both teams found out what they're made of. It's easy to get down when the lead goes back and forth, but both teams didn't roll over when down..they continued to fight
  22. I thought it crossed the plane too..but that's the breaks. Never have I seen our stands change emotions so quickly. It seemed pretty obvious he was in, no need for a ref, so we're all cheering our butts off, then the silence fell as the ref's move in...Why? they didn't need to go in..ball crosses the plane, it's good.
  23. Lose on the scoreboard, but hey, that's the breaks. Top 5 best HS game, I've ever seen. Congrats to the Jags! That offense is speedy, and man o man, do those back love their extra efforts. Powerful running, I liked watching it. I think there was only 1 4th down in the entire game. I'm a Pirate fan, but even I doubted the Pirate strength.. Well there you have it folks, that's the Pirates when they're not playing a weak non-district. I'm a believer now.
  24. I have no idea. Last I heard he was coaching up in the Dallas area. I'll try to remember and ask if I see anyone who might know. He was a great coach..
  25. Vidor's strengths? lol.. Confidence provided by Dave Campbell lol. That's about it. Nah, I'm kidding. I've only seen two of their games, and really, the only thing I could say is -Determination -Effort Weaknesses: Defense is kind of slow, and doesn't wrap up. Goes for a lot of arm and shoestring tackles. Secondary isn't bad on man coverage, but has no hands to create turnovers. It's tough watching, cause in my day, defense was all we were known for. I think it'll be an interesting game. If Vidor loses, I hope they keep it close. But Vidor has a tendancy to surprise me with how they play against teams they shouldn't compete with.
