  1. She's busy 'bashing me' :D She? Sgt Rey...Bruce Reyes...Hmmm am I drawing the wrong assumption here? I never said the tuition wasnt paid but as a private school they cannot afford to just let tuition go for some kids. I cannot go into further details. no need for further details. it's obvious from your post that kelly does indeed have the ability to recruit. the brown bros. made the bball team relevant for a while until the young one became too much for the coaches to handle. money doesn't always = happiness = success. Easy now Spoonbill. I know of at least 4 players at West Brook (in other sports) that are not from Beaumont (they live in Port Arthur, Sour Lake, etc.). Not trying to single out "da Brook", but it happens elsewhere. Before you throw the recruiting label on Kelly, look at all the schools (public and private). It happens in the public schools as well. I am not one to call out particular kids, like you did. But we all know it goes on in one form or fashion. Let me also say that Kelly is not in a financial position to give kids a free pass on tuition. Yes, there are business owners, individuals with wealth who pay for tuitions. But they pay for tuitions of non-athletes as well as athletes. Please look at the broader context when you start spotlighting a particular school for playing outside the norm.
  2. Due to the Beaumont Bulldogs football games at Kelly, we will move our tryout location to West Brook High School on Saturday. Time is still 3PM. Any questions, please call Dave Morrow at 658-9279.
  3. Older age Gladiator tryouts will be as follows: Saturday, August 22 and August 29 @ 3pm @ Kelly High School - 14 and 15 year olds Sunday, August 23 and August 30 @ 1:30pm @ Kelly High School - 16, 17, and 18 year olds. We will play higher level Elite tournaments. Our coaches confirmed thus far are Derek Spivey for 14U Elite team. Jed McBride & Morgan Walker for our 16U Prospects team. Sam Moore will coach our 18U Prospects team. We are excited about the addition of Coach Spivey and Coach Moore to our organization. They will be cornerstones of our organization, along with Morgan and Jed. In case of rain, we will use our web site to inform the public of re-schedules, should we need it. Web site is www.gladiatorbaseball.org. Should it rain, we will post updates on it. Please check it frequently Gladiator Baseball is a newly formed (last Spring) organization that currently encompasses 14U-18U teams. Our goal is to better prepare our players for the next level, whatever that may be (i.e. JV, Varsity, Junior College, College). We are committed to focusing on the improvement of our kids, both as players and people. We also want to help showcase the incredible talent of Southeast Texas high school ball players, on the national stage. In addition to our great coaches, we have a Board of Directors who assist with the off-field operations and direction of our program. We wish all the Babe Ruth players best of luck in their playoff run. We will allow those players still playing Babe Ruth to tryout at a later date. Please contact us via our website or PM me here if you are interested in trying out after World Series.
  4. Rey - I am going. Sunday night opening weekend. New 3=4 defense under Capers will have Cutler all confused. Rogers should tear up the secondary. The only achilles heel of the Packers is Urlacher. But since Favre is gone, that should be less of a problem. Side bet?
  5. We would prefer they come to both tryouts. The more looks we get at a player, the better decisions we make. Also, some kids may have performance anxiety. So giving them 2 tryouts is best for them as well.
  6. Gladiator Baseball will be holding open tryouts for our Fall teams. Ages below are based on next summer age. 14U and 15U teams will tryout Saturday Aug. 22, and 29th at 3pm at Kelly High School 16U, 17U, and 18U will tryout Sunday Aug. 23 and 30th at 1:30 pm at Kelly High School. As you can see, we are expanding our teams to include the 17's and 18's. We are excited to add a few incredible coaches to our staff for these age groups. We are finalizing details with these coaches and will publish the names when time is appropriate. Gladiator Baseball strives to be the premier baseball organization in SE Texas/SW Louisiana. Our program is young at the older age groups, but we are constantly seeking ways to better the program for our players. If you would like more information about these age groups, please contact Dave Morrow at 658-9279 or come to the tryouts!
