1. Pete Carroll mentioned that Earl may return punts this year. That would be awesome to watch
2. I don't hope he is a bust, I just realize that qb is no sure thing and he is one of the qbs that are high risk. Hr is not the first qb to get drafted because of his immense it factor, and look at the last one. He may throw better than Tebow but he doesn't throw like Mannning or Luck
3. One of the few issues that have for the current system is during the off months. One of my friends plays for SFA, and they were effectively told that summer workouts were a requirement, and scholarships don't cover that, the team is helping but he is still going to have to put forth a grand or so. Football is a year long commitment at this level, and if your taking a full load of classes getting a job can be difficult with a football schedule. The scholarships should be adjusted to cover everything.
4. What free agent wrs are still out there? Right now the browns don't have a number one or number two. They don't have many choices. If he loses his appeal he is going to serve the whole year, the league cut his suspension short last year, they won't be as forgiving this time.
5. Manziel is one of the biggest bust potential players drafted.
6. At the time if the announcement I saw most people had him as a three or four.
7. It is because he is the start of a new era, the same Jackie Robinson, its going to be the same thing when the NFL gets its first truly foreign player, its a historical event and the media is going to cover it.
8. How many other 7th round picks are the first openly gay. He is going to get a lot of media coverage. This is a big deal to new age America.
9. I've seen plenty of straight players kiss their girlfriends and wives, I see no difference from a league and national view point.
10. Not suspended yet, still can appeal before the season
11. So Gordon is lined up for a year suspension and the browns pass on wr, that front office should get drug tested as well.
12. Johnny is a cocky guy and he is going to find out real quick what's its like to have defensive ends who are able to chase him down and lay him out. It won't take but a few good hits to humble him.
13. For starters let me say hello to everyone, I've been on a hiatus during a relocation. I really hope Dallas takes manziel, would be fun watching him get torn up by kerakpo. Dallas needs to fix their free agency ineptitude in the defense. Texans would be idiots to waste their pick on any qb in the draft, none are a definite franchise caliber, only hopefully reaches. Carr and Murray are the best qbs in the draft this year. Clowney is the man, insert him into that front and it becomes a game of pick your poison. And I'll refrain from predicting where the redskins might go seeing they don't draft tonight
14. Texans would be better off signing Vick and drafting Clowney then wasting a the number one pick on Johnny
15. Got to see that defense play tonight, shutting silsbee out is a very good possibility, stangs by 14
16. Weather had something to do with the great defense. Its been colder, but the kids have been practicing in 85 degree weather all week, to walk out on the field in this weather would have been pretty different. QBs and recievers just not used to throwing and catching in the cold, and add in the wind, perfect set up for a defensive struggle.
17. Lets throw in a twist. Now instead of one back to prepare for, you have to prepare for 4 different guys, all different in some way. Those other players wouldn't be in the game if they were not capable of getting the job done, so why not spread the workload and more importantly the hits.
18. Its own of those rules every coach ignores and can't get in trouble for it. Those workouts are as mandatory as they come if you want to see the field. Coach just can't say it out loud.
19. Putting this out there, saw some of BH's players at a party, they all know how bad they will suck next year to say the least. These Seniors had no hope for this fall.
20.

This topic would probably get a more accurate response on the baseball and basketball forums.  IMO, yes it does help.  They can get better at individual skills that are a must in order for a TEAM to be successful.  They still need to work on throwing, batting, and catching in baseball and dribbling and shooting in basketball.  I agree that kids don't need to specialize at the 3A level, but lets face it, some kids aren't football players, just like some are not baseball or basketball players.  Why should the kids who just aren't football players, not be able to get better at the sport they like to play.  If done properly, this would not encourage kids to specialize, it would just benefit the ones who do.
The UIL does not allow a team to start practicing before the mandated date. So if they work on batting, throwing, catching, dribbling and shooting before that date it is against the rules plain and simple. What they do on their spare time is their business. I agree some are not football players but why should the football players not have the adaquate time to prepare just like the kids who only play basketball. It that fair for the football players just because they chose to play football? Its a double egde sword. You have to think about every kid in every sport not just the one your kid is playing in.
HMMM YES UIL does allow a team to start practicing before the mandated date. Its called fall ball. Now the head baseball coach of the school can not coach them there but he can appoint the right person to run the team. He can teach him/her how to run practice and what to look for.. so they can practice as a team.  Also during the athletic period they are allowed to throw, catch, hit.....with the coach there. and yes football players are allowed to practice before the season starts.... its called 7 on 7 during the summer.. or Spring Football with pads. As for should 3A teams have separate specific sport periods...YES... Its not fair that a kid can not get practice during the period just because they do not play football.  But It has to be done right and the RIGHT COACHES need to be hired.  A coach should not persuade a kid to stick to one sport.
Like Griff does at LCM right, Never heard of fall ball before at the high school level except for select teams. OK, you become the AD and lets see how far you last. You know the right way, I guess the coaches before you did not. Let me guess you have a degree and is ready for the coaching profession. Lets see I think I will contact the UIL and see if you are right. If I am wrong I will admit it.  If I am right the UIL will know about it.
I played 3 sports in highschool, the only issue I ever had was a baseball coach who gave me all sorts of hell for playing soccer and couldn't participate in his special baseball class.
21. Well persnally, having graduated not to long ago myself, if they were proven to even be at that party they would not be playing. I think we all know whats going on during these parties these days and its obvious they don't have their priotities straight.
