Who got coach of the year?

You have made several comments about Coach of the Year, did you read the All District picks?  Was there a coach listed?  Obviously they DID NOT PICK ONE!  Who cares anyway, isn't this about the PLAYERS and not coaches?

Yes, I agree wgpitcher. Although i was not in school here, I attended all of the games. There were always several scouts spread throughout the stands. Jay Bruce has got to be the most reruited player SETX has ever seen!

I'm not saying Jay Bruce was not the most highly recruited player ever out of SE Texas, but we have to remember John Patterson from WO-S in 1997 who went #6 in the MLB Draft that year. 

I agree that Carnahan from PNG is the best catcher in this area, both on offense and defense.  He is also a great roll model on and off the field.  His leadership skills as a junior are great, expecially with PNG's young team.  His bat is hot when it counts the most, i.e. major HR against Nederland and most of his hits are doubles, with him hitting in the 4 hole.  No registered steels against PNG and he only has one passed ball for the season.

He gets my vote!

if you are talking about Gwen Kelly Hall, then yes.  She is the Volleyball coach.

If she was a good or great coach she would have won at least 2 State titles.  :

They should have been in Austin with talent like Brittany James, Brittany Scott and the tall post players they had.  Just my opinion that with a good coach they would have been there.  You have yours and I have mine!

She was a great coach and all, i hate 2 see her step down as a Basketball Coach

Are you kidding?  With the talent they had the last few years they should have at least played for a State Championship!  Talent and talent alone got them as far as they did.  In my opinion, they would have won a State Championship with a coach like Ancelot. 

Thomas is def. one of the best.  What all does he play for the mustangs?

Football, Basketball, Baseball and Track.  Dishon is a tremendous athlete but Thomas is the premiere athlete in the area.

Nobody said WO-S was the only team that had to do it, it is just that your football players have had more time to make the transition since they didn't make the playoffs AGAIN!

hey man..uhh...ever here of a guy named Bo Worthom???? hes from PNG...all state catcher....went to Lamar...and what did old Jim boy do???? Bring in a guy from New York...Bo Worthom would have went PRO!!! So maybe you need to rethink what u say!!!

By the way, you may need to do some research before you hammer Gilligan on the Wortham situation. Bo Wortham was academically inelegible to go to Lamar. He then had to go to Seminole and blew out his elbow and never fully recovered. Gilligan, being the bad guy you portray him as, gives the kid a second chance and gives him a scholarship. His injury prevented him from playing. Gilligan gave him an opportunity. Maybe YOU need to rethink what you say!

You base your arguement of of one guy? What about local talents like Bruce Aven, Eric Cammack, Randy Williams, Brian Sanches among others that have gone Pro under Gilligan. By the way, maybe just maybe the kid from New York was better than Wortham! Gilligan and his staff do a tremendous job.

I know if I had a son of the appropriate age I would definately send him to Coach Gilligan. He has a proven record of developing pitchers and sending them to the next level! He is regarded as one of the best pitching coaches in the country. Lamar also does a tremendous job of recruiting local talent. Congratulations Nick.

ha if you think that this game will be like the dayton game then you will be suprised...... our guys have worked hard and are prepared for centrals speed..

It is impossible for you to be prepared for Central's speed. Lumberton cannot immitate their speed in practice. Let's remember you guys talked all week about well you were prepared for Dayton and how you were going to win and you got lit up like a Christmas tree.

Central by as much as they want. Could be uglier than the Dayton game.
