1. This is getting good... GO UNLV..  TT is a ^#&$%..  As I have said before.  Up until 3 years ago or at least the four years Will played at Lamar  the only thing that impressed me about SHSU was when my youngest played in a baseball playoff game on their very nice field....
 2.

This is not Lamar - where the status quo is observed without fault. Our fans are reacting to the product as they view it on the field.
In other words, SHSU only has fair weather fans.
You got that right coach.  I would rather have no fans than fair weathered fans.
 3. Series is tied 2-2 and will go to game 5 on Monday at 3pm.  Has been a lot of fun..  Cannot wait until February....
 4. A really good game today.  And such great weather.  Wish it was February.  Tied 1-1..  Come out tomorrow....
 5. Thank LU4LIFE that is a great reference page.  It is a shame it has to wait 4 years.
 6.
Maybe they realized with all the construction going on to the stadium it just didn't make sense to put the turf down.  I do think they will be doing more to the stadium than they originally planned because they are spending more money and construction costs have actually decreased because of the bad economy.
They are a long way from being ready to lay turf.  I agree that the turf should be the last thing done but they could go ahead and do drainage and rock,  would be a lot less messy.  Just do final grading and then lay turf....  Of course I really do not care as long as it is finished at the right time.  Just strange that is was suppose to be a 90 day job from June 1.....
 7. Sure would be nice to see some more people out at Vincent Beck this week.  It is a beautiful week for some baseball.  Saw some good pitching and hitting today.  Come on out Tuesday and Wednesday at 3 for some more LU baseball.  Bring a jacket it get chilly around 5 when the sun starts going down....
 8.
What I've read is that they are looking for $5 million in donations to renovate Vincent-Beck in 2012.  I guess that could changed based on how fast the donations come in.
Funny I am on Cardinal Club baseball committee and I have not heard about raising 5mil for renovations that would be awesome if it is true.  There is a lot that needs to be done and that would be great.  Of course they have been talking about this since my oldest was playing there.  I know part of the wish list is to cover stands.  Put more seat backs in, finish pouring concrete under stands.  Totally renovate batting cages, renovate bathrooms and new concession.  concrete the picnic area, among the few things on the wish list.  Also they want to finish the outfield with synthetic turf which would probably be around $900,000 alone.  So I guess that all of that could add up.  I know it would be nice to get a new concrete stadium seating with new press box and suites.  Interesting to find out exactly what G has in mind.  guess I will have to ask him...Anybody know someone willing to donate that kind of money.  We have Vincent Beck stadium but I guess they could name the field after them.  lol...  I saw the lockers that are going in the clubhouse they are major league....
 9.
why do you think its taking so long to just get an stadium design? My theory is that they were starting small but have decided to go ahead and put in more seats..hence the delay in laying the turf..but this is a just my guess. I definitely think we are going FBS.
My source says that the turf is not down because Hellas pulled majority of crew off the job to go do another one....Said will not be done with LU until April.
 10. Good for Chris.  He is well deserving....
 11. We had someone tell us they would not be finished until spring.  They keep pulling their guys off the job and leaving a skeleton crew.  Kind of ridiculous.  This should have been a 90 to 120 day job even with the rain.  We had a very dry summer until September.  Rain is no excuse.
 12. Please note that the article says that the World Series starts on Thursday but because of the rain in the forecast it has been pushed back to start on Monday at 3 pm.  Hope everyone comes out for this fun fall event and to get a sneak preview of what to expect in the spring.
 13.
I'll be surprised if we pull any of those guys with a Texas State or SFA beside their name...
Never know just because they are talking does not mean they are offering.....
Lamar baseball has been to the postseason 3 times since 2000... In 2002 played in Austin, 2003 again in Austin and in 2004 in Houston at Rice.  Basketball went to post season in 2000.  Know for a fact that this is right because I was at all 4 tournaments.
It was difficult to find the information on the Lamar web site, so I apologize for the incorrect information. I went to the page regarding 'tradition' and only championships were listed. Perhaps they should list NCAA appearances there - would make it more helpful. 2004 was the last appearance? I guess the fans here are right when they've informed us all that SHSU and TXST have surpassed the Cards. I want you guys to turn it around, but with the annual weak SOS, you guys don't really help the league RPI, which has continued to head in a positive direction. We've got to look to a squad like SLU to lift it.
Also who the heck are you that you have all your little contacts at every school.  I talked to not just anyone but an assistant AD whom I know for sure has his facts correct.  Why not spend more time putting out positive facts about SHSU and quit trying to down our programs.  Better yet get a life...Why do you care who is on our non conference shedule.  We play who we play....
I am a voter in two of the three major FCS polls and talk quite frequently with people at all the different schools, as well as several of the national writers who cover this level better than anyone. I am interested in FCS as a whole and follow it like a hawk, while everyone else is keeping tabs on the Cougars, Aggies, Red Raiders and Longhorns - I am more concerned with Mountaineers, Paladins, Spiders and Grizzlies. Can you name which schools I am referring to? All four have been FCS powers over the years... On that note, I have contacted Georgia State. It has been awhile and figured it was time for a follow-up - since it's apparent that they have still not listed Lamar on their web site.
Apology accepted. I do not care who which schools those are if they do not play Lamar, because I am a Lamar alum and also the parent of a LU alum and a student.  Obviously you are someone who does care and follow a lot of teams.  Goody Goody for you...But one thing I know is that we can debate SOS, RPI, FCS and anything else but I have found that through all my years of following sports that we fans can BS all we want but what really matters is what happens on the field, court, pool, track or any other venue.  We will see what happens. Personally about GSU.  Who really gives a rats %$#*&...When it gets posted it gets posted.  That is 12 months away and there is a lot more to worry about than whether trying to prove if you are right or the LU fans are correct.  We will worry about it when the time comes to buy a ticket to the game......

How many NCAA Appearances does Prison U have?
Since 2001, we have one basketball and three baseball. Just the 2004 NCAA appearance for the Cards in baseball. So in your two premier sports, it's 4 to 1 since the turn of the century... ;) As is typical with Lamar, it is what have you done for me lately?
Well TT  again you fail to have all the facts right.  YOU ARE SO WRONG THIS TIME.  TIED 4 TO 4. Lamar baseball has been to the postseason 3 times since 2000... Then, I followed up and contacted someone at Georgia State and told me it was not finalized at that point, hence the reason Lamar was excluded when the Panthers announced their schedule (AFTER Lamar had announced theirs). It's been pretty humorous to watch. I'm sure these two teams will play, but when contract issues reach into the public like this and it's obvious that there is a problem, it's funny. My favorite is when it's obvious that schools have double-booked.
How is it so public? There's been no release, article, or anything on the news saying that there are contract issues with this game.
Also who the hell are you that you have all your little contacts at every school.  I talked to not just anyone but an assistant AD whom I know for sure has his facts correct.  Why not spend more time putting out positive facts about SHSU and quit trying to down our programs.  Better yet get a life...Why do you care who is on our non conference shedule.  We play who we play....
 16.
As of yesterday, Georgia State still did not list Lamar on the football schedule. Lamar, which announced their schedule first, still does. Collegiate sports contracts must be a difficult and long-winded process...
Well TT hate to disappoint you but I spoke with someone in the athletic department yesterday and was told that YES, Lamar has a contract with Georgia and the Coach Woodard has put a call into them to please change their website....So I guess LU was not making it up after all....
 17. We heard the turf will not be finished until next April. It is ridiculous that they are this far behind. Should have been finished by now.....
 18. We do play Houston and Rice and Rice has finished higher in the polls than A&M for the past 10 years. U of H is nothing to scoff at either. They traditionally have a strong team. Yes it would be nice to play A&M or Texas but I stand behind G's decision to not play if they do not return the home game to us. However, it may be in the future we may have to give in to get these teams back.
 19. In a way I have to agree with UNLV - whether it is 9,000 or 20,000... It will still feel like you are playing in an empty place. I understand the financial benefit but seems like playing at U of H or Rice would be better suited. Especially since there will be no alcohol sales allowed.
 20. How fun wish I was going to be in town.
 21. It all hinges on wins and losses. Last I heard there were suites coming off of the Montagne Center so do not know how much grass will be there... I am really excited about the number of people who are saying they will be going to games. I think that the way they have structured season ticket sales is going to be really good. I like that if you want the good seats they you must be a member of the Cardinal Club...
 22. It is such a shame that it all comes down to money. I also think that the shortened season that started two years ago also hurts. I took the time to look at several Big 12 and SEC schedules for 2010 and there are very few OOC away games. i think it is very unfair to expect smaller schools to only go to those bigger venues and the bigger schools will not reciprocate. I commend Jim Gilligan for not playing teams that refuse to come to Beaumont. I noticed UNO is only playing in The Box this year and LSU is not going to NO. That just plain sucks. Of course I would not expect anything less from the rudest bunch of people I have ever come across in my 35 years of following college baseball, but that is a whole other post......
 23. For years UT has played almost every non conference game at home - 2010 they travel to Houston for the Classic Tournament at Minute Maid and one more time for a mid week game with Rice. A&M only plays 4 non conference games that are not at home. They do play Tx State and Sam Houston but why travel when other teams will play you at your home field. Such a shame they have these attitudes. When will was at Lamar we looked forward to those game and the stands were always filled to the max.
 24. I heard a rumor today that Lamar was not going to have softball.. Anyone know anything about this?
