Lamar Heads to Fort Worth
They are still playing!!!! That's a positive thing! Funny game the game of baseball. Doubt many of you had Lamar in the regional at all. Go CARDS!!!
You sound like my brother in law. He said the exact same thing. This is baseball and it is the team that shows up that is more likely to win. Anyone can win or lose any given game -
It's just the truth lol, baseball America and yahoo sports said same thing, that this regional isn't that hard and you have two teams that barley got in and they were bubble teams lol, just the truth it's no big deal if there in a easy Regional hopefully it helps Lamar, so stop getting uptight and just be realistic for once. That is what's wrong with people these days there not realistic and that's all i'm being, it's common sense stuff. I don't see where Arizona is ranked 28 lol they were 3-7 in there last 10 games and ended up 33-22 for the season. I mean this is good for lamar, easier regional for them the better. Kendall rogers of yahoo sports on Arizona makes the field, Kentucky doesn’t: We missed exactly one team in the entire field of 64 this season. That team was Kentucky, which didn’t earn a regional bid. Arizona, though, was our last team out and it was in the NCAA tournament field. The inclusion of Arizona certainly is interesting to say the least. The Wildcats lost their last six series of the season, including a dismal home series loss to Cal State Bakersfield. Arizona also compiled just a 12-14 mark against RPI top 50 teams. Weiser said Monday that Arizona’s two series wins over Cal State Fullerton and Washington State earlier in the season helped their case. Never mind the fact it finished the season on a sour note and seventh in the Pac-10. Kentucky, meanwhile, missed the field despite having a fantastic RPI and 16 wins against RPI top 50 teams. UK, though, lost 18 games against RPI top 50 opponents, too. a-
Look on NCAA.com and look at rankings as of may 30th - ranked 24th down from 21st the previous week Arizona Pacific-10 It does not matter what YAHOO, Bahoo or Espn or anyone else but the NCAA as far as who gets in. They had us at Texas too seeded 3rd. Realistic...Every year teams do not get in that some think should. -
texas st and southwestern la, played there self out of the tourney by how horrible they played the last 3 weeks, if texas st wins that nic st series then they would be in the tourney, if south eas la doesn't get swept by northwestern then they are in the tourney, then you would be looking at maybe 3 teams from southland in the ncaa tourney but you know what they didn't, and for a tremoundous SOS it was 68 and tremoundous to me is a top 20 SOS, like I said I hope Lamar wins this regional but you got to be realistic too, and the pitching staff has one pitcher that can dominate a good team if he's down in the zone and can get ahead in the count and thats the lefty freshman, I don't see smith or harrington getting it done because they don't have the dominant stuff like Arizona pitchers,TCU, and baylor..they are good pitchers for the southland conf but for teams like this I don't see them doing to well...they might do well early in the game and keep teams off balance but deep in the game I see them getting hit ....I hope I am and dead wrong.
FDLMAO -- Oh It is OK that they played horrible the last 3 weeks. well Lamar won 6 of its conf weekends, got swept twice and lost 3, were better than 500 in conf play and we won tournament, must not have had that bad of schedule. When we started conf. we had the flu going through our dugout, and injuries. The tournament was really the first time that we have been going on all cylinders. I hated loosing Pable but VJ and Andy stepped up. We have a lot of talent on this team. Again BB25 lay off the negativity just until we finish our season....

We are not in a powerhouse conference. Every year you will not see 2 teams making regionals. Yes some years but not most. SOS killed TX State chances because they got beat and sometimes beat bad by the ranked schools. We are not settling for second best. Gilligan is still a first rate coach. We had a few down years but if you recall in 2004 had 7 drafted.2006 we had 6 drafted in 07 we had 5 drafted and again 4 and 1 FA in 09. Sometimes it takes a few years to recover from a large draft loss and we have only had 05 and 08 with not a large draft loss. Baseball 25 I know that you are entitled to your opinion but we are all on a high about last weekend and the first thing we see is you continuing to bash G. Well give it up for a few weeks. if you cannot resist then do not post, but coaches, players and BIG RED fans all read this and I for one am tired of being angry. Is it too much to ask Baseball 25 to just at least give us this week. After all regardless of the year we had, we DID WIN and are going to REGIONALS. I really do not give a rats $@%^ whether you think we can win or not. Even though I appreciate the thought that you would like us to win. I was only kidding about your brothers the other day but I think I will go up and show them the forum. Get over it and quit being a downer this week on G.

A&M football player transfers to LU after arrest

Yes I do believe in second chances as long as the ground rules are laid ahead of time. There is a big time Major League Pitcher that was given a second chance after doing something stupid. That second chance has changed his life. -
This and ou regional prob easiest regionals of all, Arizona and Baylor barley got in, so not a bad Regional for Lamar.
There it is...always have to get the jab in. I am glad that you were sitting in that meeting with the NCAA selection committee when they decided that Arizona who ended year ranked 28th and Baylor barely got in. What is it that you cannot stand about Lamar besides G. I was approached by someone on Monday about your posts. Enough already. Get a life or at least be happy and find something positive to say. -
**SLC TOURNEY THREAD AND UPDATES**
LU Baseball Fan replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Just because yall love the guy thats fine and dandy lol and bleed red, but people have there opinion i mean no reason to get all uptight, I hope lamar beats texas st and gets to go to the UT regional or TCU and make alot of noise there, but I feel the program wise and recruiting wise the program is going another direction and other teams in the conference are stepping up and building there programs, I mean thats why you play tourneys because teams get hot at the right time and Lamar has gotten hot, I mean there 34-24 for a reason but like I said I would love to see lamar win today it would be good for this group because the kids have battled all yr.
We have had our moments all year. I think considering the illness and injuries we have had also contributed to our ups and downs. I think winning tournament and going to regionals will go a long way with recruiting. We have a good recruiting class for next year. We had some young kids also that have stepped up. Say what you want and yes you are entitled to your opinion but if I recall 3 months ago you were adamant that this program was not going to be successful. I for one am very proud of everyone including G and the other coaches. Hey you better be nice your bros told me they would straighten you out if need be...lol -

It is so sad that the Louisiana government has a history of badly handling its financing. Now the future of that state are paying for it. How sad for these kids. I can only imagine the turmoil these kids are feeling. Even the suggestion or hint that their school or its athletic program is in jeopardy is sad....

:) :D ::) :P :-* Crow........They should all eat Condors and lots of them.....Once everyone was well, or had healed from their injuries this team started hitting on all cylinders. We have to give credit to all our coaches G, Jimmy, Scotty, Matt, and Tyler. And more so to the entire BIG RED roster. Every kid contributed this season to make this team Conference Champions. I have never been prouder of any team I have supported in all the 30 plus years I have followed and supported this team. Today I am truly proud to not only be a mother of one of these players but to be a Cardinal Alum..... Baseball25. The "crows" are being gathered....hope you are good at choking on feathers.....lol

"Gift for Gage" Night at Vincent-Beck Stadium

A very big thank you for all that donated to "a gift for gage" If you want any information you can go to www.ldhfoundationforyouth.com We could use your help if you have not already donated. We truly appreciate Lamar Baseball and what they did for Gage last Friday night. Go Big RED>>> -
If weather cooperates it takes 4 to 6 weeks maximum. My understanding is that the field is pretty much ready except for final grading which will be done just prior to installing the turf. Actually installing the turf takes about a week. I assume it is being sewn in. The lines are not painted, on the turf is manufactured with the lines already on it. As I understand they will not lay the turf until the construction crews are finished driving on it. I am confident that the field will be ready in plenty of time for opening day. If it isn't then Lamar needs to get a refund from Hellis.
-
Turf is a 3 month process. To be ready be mid-September, they'd have to start no later than mid-June. And that's with PERFECT weather. They need to get going within the next couple of weeks.
Just curious where did you get the "3 month process" to lay turf?

They need to hire Robert Verde. Best softball coach ever.....and Melissa could help out. Of course I am not prejudice or anything :D

I cannot wait for August... I know there is a rendering of the field and the suites because I saw it at a Cardinal Club Board meeting last fall. Jimmy Simmons had it. I will see if I can get a copy of it. ::)

Heckling is great and fun but personally verbally attacking another player and using foul language, calling them retarded, stupid. NOT Acceptable. There is a way to have a great time and heckle but personal attacks NO WAY>>>
I remember the days though when Lamar had big games at Vincent beck and it was a packed and rowdy, you just don't see that anymore because students these days wanna to see big name teams come and play. I remember when Texas A&M came in 2004, that game was packed and a very good rowdy crowd.
The only games that ever were packed were A&M, and Rice. Then most of those were their fans. I have been going to Lamar games for years and it has never packed them in consistently. I just want those that show up to open their mouths a little bit...
-
They could try winning. :D
FDLMAO.. Hate to tell ya but even in the early days of the decade when we were winning, other than a few parents and some students, no one says much. Of course when we are ahead they make a little more noise but when we fall behind it is frustrating that the fans sit there like zombies. Heck it is hard to get spirited at those times but that is when they need to know we are behind them.
