Maybe if we all ignore Baseball25 he will go away. I am so tired of him bringing us down by is constant criticism. We had the SLC pitcher of the week in Mattison Smith who shutout Penn St. Guess you get that by playing "a bunch of bums" I challenge Baseball 25 to sign his posts with his name so we can know who the dog is behind his bark. Elaine Millar LU Alum Proud mother of Will Henderson, former first baseman and Dh - Lamar 03-06 and Jake Henderson - pitcher UNO 07,08 and now a proud Cardinal. Also sister in law of former Lamar Cardinal Kevin Millar
Playing a bunch of teams that are bums, if your going to at bums you better beat them, my buddy on the selection committee says it perfect play bad teams and losing to them doesn't look good on your resume, but playing quality teams and losing to them looks a whole lot better.
Guess that is why TX St RPI is greater than ours right now.... -
baseball25, I think all of setxsports.com is tired of hearing you talk! First of all I'm a girl and I can't stand getting on here and reading what you write! When will you ever get a life and stop bashing an amazing baseball coach and team. It's like you get on here everyday just to bring coach G and these boys down. Well in my personal opinion a win is a win no matter who you play, and guess what? They BEAT Priarie View, no matter how good or bad their supposed to be! And it frustrates me a lot when you talk about their schedule blah blah blah! Well sir, I might be a girl but I sure do follow up on baseball A LOT and hearing your comments on their schedule blows my mind, you know why? because I'm a student at LSU...yeah that's right the defending champions as of now, and I don't see you getting a hold of coach Paul Mainieri and telling him how horrible his pre-conference schedule is, because they are definitely winning and remaining number 1 in the polls after beating some pretty "low" teams. Seriously, what do you have against Coach G and these Boys? I think they have had a quite amazing start this year, and they have no one to thank but their coaches and the fact that they're playing as a team this year...so why don't you back off some and give these guys a little respect...
You are my hero!!!!!!!!! -
I understand westlinder, but when was the last time that LU snook up on anybody. It's been a while. I just think it would help them and area fans to get some bigger names in here. They use to do it, but then the last decade nada.
"the last decade" while Will was playing 03 to 06 we played Rice, A&M, U of H, and others every year. Now that we do have showers and a place for them to use right next to the field (soccer clubhouse) maybe we can start getting them back. I know that Jim will not schedule a team away if they will not come here. As far a PV A&M we have always played them almost every year, same a Tx Southern. -

I did not accuse you of saying negative things about a certain player because if you had my post would have been a lot worse in criticizing you. I also did not say that a team had to have 40 wins to get an at large bid. I asked: "Can you tell me how many teams have gotten a bid without at least 40 wins?". You seem to have it out for G. I have known him for more than 40 years. I do not believe that his goal is to pad his wins. He has always said that he believes that the players deserve to be able to play games on their home field. When the "Big" guys decided that they only wanted to play at home and not return an away game, well G felt that was not fair. I also know that one of the reasons TX St and Sam Houston got the games with A&M is because they are only 1 and 1/2 hrs from CS. If you look at a lot of schools schedules you will see that they are not all against ranked schools. With the exception of Tx St everyone plays schools that they should easily beat. I find it funny how you repeatedly have to tell us how you know the game of baseball. I really do not care if you do or not. My point was I am tired of your negative attitude toward Lamar, Gilligan and our schedule. I am curious. Do you go to the games at Vincent Beck? -

LU beat Rice and Tulane yet they rank higher. It's all about the Conference.
It's not all about the conference. If we were winning hand over fist and still ranked in the mid to high 100's I would agree. But We have to take some of the blame because our basketball program is just not that good. Swallow your pride and admit it. The Southland Conference is NOT our biggest problem. Probably not even top 5 on the list.
A better conference yield better recruits. A better conference get better exposure. The SLC has one ncaa win in the last 10 years. Hang around losers makes you a loser.
If you haven't been paying attention, we are the losers holding the others in this conference back. Your words not mine. Your thinking is ridiculous. We are about to miss the conference tourney for the second straight year, unless we get a miracle finish. And your argument is that the "losers" that keep beating us are the ones holding us back? Why don't you look at budgets and the overall facilities of out athletics programs (Ty Terrell track is the biggest joke in the SLC and is worse than most high school facilities and for the product that had been placed on the field for the tenure of the staff, there is no way Vincent Beck should be as SAD as it is) and you might just realize we are way further behind than many of the "losers" in the SLC. You're so quick to blame everyone else for why Lamar is struggling, but you seem to refuse to place blame on the shoulders that deserve it the most. The admin at Lamar is a joke and thngs are not going to get better until the right decisions are being made all the way across the board and not just for one or two sports.
This administration has done more for our athletic programs than any other. There have been a lot of improvements made since Jimmy Simmons took over in 1999. The main problem is MONEY!!! We have had some big donations lately and that is helped. There is a long "want list" and as money comes available improvements are being made. Just since Will graduated in 06 Vincent Beck has improved 3 fold. The field is great, (wish we could finish and do the outfield in turf). The locker rooms have been totally redone. The hitting facility will be wonderful - thanks to Henry Strait. The neglect of our programs in the 80s and 90s cannot be undone in a few years. Give Jimmy time and our facilities will get up to speed. But the "admin at Lamar" is far from being a Joke.

You know Baseball25, I am truly happy that you "know your baseball and the NUMBERS DON'T LIE" but personally I am tired of your negative attitude. Personally I am glad that most of the players do not read this site. If all you can talk about is G and his sub par schedule I would just as soon you find another site to post on. These kids work hard day in and day out. They are 6-1 and they deserve our support. Yes they should not have lost the game last Saturday, but as anyone who "knows baseball" knows that on any given day your pitching can go south. All of them can have a bad outing. Even those that are being paid millions. So get off of it. I would like to just once come on here and read that you have said something positive. How about the beat the (*&#(^ out of NDS 12-5 on Sunday. Or how about they beat the **%%$* out of Rice. I for one am very proud of these boys. Yes some of the points you make are true. And I may have missed a few of your posts that could possibly been positive, but enough already. Come on here and talk about the good things these kids or doing. Or even if a player struggles like Harrington did this past weekend that is OK. As a parent it would be nice to see some positive posts not only about our players but also about the Lamar program. -

Chancellor Ryan announces that University of New Orleans is considering a move from DI to DIII by 2011 [Hidden Content] This move is so devastating for the these kids. I am so happy that Jake decided to go ahead and move to Lamar this year and get out from under all this uncertainty. We just had a really bad feeling about the future of this program and it turns out we were right. I just hate it for these kids, especially the juniors who will be seniors in 2011.

It was great seeing the crowd out there and getting to see Lamar Football under the lights. Saw several of the local high school coaches and players along the sidelines along with the hords of Cardinal fans. The two bleachers were filled to capacity and it was probably 5-6 deep along the west sideline from 20 to 20. I would estimate the crowd number pretty near to 2,000, maybe more.
Well wouldn't that be something if this little ole scrimmage at Lamar drew more than Dan Rather State's last home game. Can't wait until the worlds greatest spin master TT tries to run damage control. Hey TT, you missed your calling. You need to be one of Obama's spin Dr.'s.
FDLMAO>>>>>WOW, TT pretty sad when we can get 2000 out for a scrimmage among ourselves....... How many were at your game last week.....

One thing is certain, our academics are up to snuff in the athletic department for an FBS move, if that's the way we go. We've had a consistent staff in place, no general studies major nor the need of others to take classes for our student-athletes.
You mean to tell me not one of your athletes is a General Studies Major. I do not know who the hell you think you are by inferring that other schools have someone take classes for their student athletes. You are an ass and that is a big allegation..... -
