1. I was wondering who the young man is that picthed the first 3 innings against Orangefield, and what grade he is in.  He is one of the best pitchers I have seen this year.  I was sitting behind a scout friday at BC that was clocking Hayden Guidry at 84, and the Big Sandy pitcher appeared to be noticably faster.  Very impressive off speed pitches also.
2. Jake Best senior Orangefield hit one against West Orange Stark
3.
Not sure how long you've been in the OF area, but I will say this. Many of the folks that got up and spoke don't have kids in the program.  Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but here are the facts; I don't remember when our numbers were so low in athletics, and that includes football.  For the first time in forever we had no JV team last year.  Only 22 suited out during Varsity games.  I have 6 kids, 3 of whom have graduated, and 3 that are still there.  Someone is building this hysteria around jumping on a band wagon acting like the school board is on a witch hunt. I would suggest that everyone actually get facts before they make comments.  There are so many issues with your post, that I would almost prefer you contact a school board member, rather than make judgements on some people that I've known all my life. I can tell you that every one of them, in my opinion, whether they support Huck or not, are doing what they feel is best for all of the kids in the district.
Have spoken to 4 of them and what I put in my post is my opinion.  We did have a JV football team last year I watched them play 3 games.  As far as the numbers of Varsity players we started the year with 26 dressed out and lost some to injury,  that is the same number of kids plus or minus 2 that have suited out for varsity for the last 4 or 5 years.  If the school board thinks getting rid of Huckabay is the best thing for ALL of the kids in the district, they are mistaken in my opinion.
4. Went to the board meeting last night, and it seems like the only parents who dont support Huckabay are the ones on the school board whose kids have got in trouble and have been held to the same standards as the rest of our kids.  What a shame it will be if we lose Huck.  What great comments from OF athletes Luke Johnson and Jake Best.  The only parents not happy with Huckabay are the ones who think their kids should not be held accountable for their actions, or the ones who do not think their kids should have to do the same work outs as the football players.  Huckabay has run the program in exactly the same way for 3 years and every thing was fine until last year when the school board members kids got in trouble.
5. I was at the game and the one thing I didnt understand was the trainer issue.  The trainer does not follow the player home or around in class, he could have stayed on the field while the player went to the field house.  It was certainly the umpires ego causing most of the problems, and I thought the first player he ejected was for wearing jewlery after they gave them the warning in the first inning.  That was a first for me.  I though the Kelly parents (with the one exception handled) the situation well, I am pretty sure if it would have been our kids tossed there would have been a lot more of an roar.  George Coit has always been a class act.
6. I got to watch most of one of HJ's games in Lumberton tournament, and they appear to be much improved from last year.  They are better than WOS (starting 4 fresh and 3 soph) and will compete against OF and HF.
7. Braxton Smith (soph) Orangefield hit one Friday against Buna.
8. Long night if you are a Bobcat fan! :'( [Hidden Content]
9.
great win cats!!! on a side note,i was at the game and when jasper scored their first td i heard some orangefield fans standing right behind me say "jaspers gonna put 60 or 70 points on us!" at that point orangefield hasnt touched the ball yet! sad....  :-\
Come on Venom it was homecoming a quater of those folks were not even watching the game.  If you would have been at the Coldsprings game and saw the number of fans there till the end of the game you would not be worried about the Bobcats fan base.  What a great game by Desalatte and Wiley, cant say enough about those two.  You can really see the boys coming together out there.
10. Do any of the ColdSprings fans out there know what the weights are on the offensive linemen?  That has to be the biggest line I have ever seen.  The only difference I see in ColdSprings team this year from last years team is that they dont have as many back up players.  They should go far.  Good job Bobcats, you never gave up!
11. Liberty is looking good. A effective offense and a stingy defense.  I have a few Libery county folks filling me in on the Liberty games and couple with the box scores I seriously believe that Liberty is a serious option to win district. Wouldn't that be something that Liberty AND Dayton win their respective districts.
I hope your boss doesn't know your screen name or you might get tested for cause on Monday. ;D
12.
The key to the game was the OF fumble on the first drive of the 3rd quarter.  Buna is big and physical, where did those boys come from?  They may be the biggest team OF faces all season!  Another fun game in this series.  Best of luck to the Cougars this season.  I hope they go on and win district!
You better take a look at Coldsprings first and second teams, but Buna does have some men on the line #74 was a monster.
13. Great game by both teams, Buna has a tremdous offense and defensive line.  Good job Cats coming out to play in the second half showed plenty of heart!
14. Yeah our kicker drug up during two a days and it does not look like we have found a good replacemnet yet.  We do have one that can kick extra points not sure why we did not use him.
15. Great game by both teams, EC looked a lot better than I expected.  Orangefield's offense put the ball on the ground way too much tonight.  In the second half the defense picked it up when they needed to.  Levi Shores looks to be picking up right where Josh left off, I was also impressed with Eric Truncale and Jackson Calhoun. I did not have an EC line up in my program but #27 is a stud we could not cover him at all.
16.
ec 23 , of 8
I think your avator explains that prediction-Bobcats will walk away with this one
17. They have a fantastic defense they were not wearing numbers and I dont know the players but one of their line backers is a BEAST. He hit one of Wheatly's guys so hard I thought his helmet would pop off. The only shaky part of their defense seems to be the secondary, but they made corrections quickly and got where they needed to be.  On offense they have some work to do, the line was having trouble holding their blocks long enough for the recievers to come open.  The quarter back has a good head on his shoulders because there was traffic around him all day and he kept his head a made good throws.  If their offense comes around Huffman should have a real good season.
18. Very good game on both sides of the ball for the Bobcats.  The offense looked much better this week, we are still not holding our blocks long enough up front and are having some trouble getting around the end of the line but we are coming around.  Akerman looks like he has the offense down well and Cook is going to put up some big runs again this year.  On defensive we are as good as we have been in a long time, still having problems covering all the receivers when there are more than two lined up, and also still biting a little too hard on the run fakes.  But we covered the outside much better this week.  The defensive line looks great, I love seeing Deslatte and Best coming togther on the QB.  The most impressive part of this scrimmage to me, was the shape Huckabay and staff have the boys in.  Even with less kids on the team we looked fresher at the end than either of the other teams.  Come on next Friday!
19. Both defenses looked impressive, espically Vidor they look like 11 dogs fighting over 1 pork chop.  Neither offense looked to be hitting their holes smoothly.  A good start for both teams.  Both coaches had their teams running gassers after the game.
20.
I heard the reason bennett was leaving was because he received a good offer at kirbyville, but because him and huckaby could not see eye-to-eye, huckaby would not let bennett get kids to practice throughout the season, huckaby fealt that football came first, and would not work with bennett, which is a good coach btw, and the reason we have trawhon is because of recomendation from huckaby, because he will do what he wants. I only hope that the baseball program in OF that Bennett built, and known to be excellent, has not been pushed to the side. As a side note, I do not personally know bennett, I have just been an observer for years, so do not think I am a follower.
I dont know about being a Bennett follower, but you are uniformed about the situation.  The rub between Bennett and Huckaby is not football vs baseball.  It was coaching philosophy.  Bennett is laid back, does not push the players hard in practice, and is more of a players coach.  Huckaby believes in disicipline and hard work-period, no exceptions, he is not interested in being friends with the kids just pushing them to excell.  The hand writing has been on the wall almost since the day Huckaby showed up that Bennett would have to change or move on. The only people I have heard at Orangefield complaining about the baseball vs football deal are ones whose kids have had issues and been disciplined by Huckaby and did not play football.  Mine plays both and after watching both men coach, I think Bennett will be better off at Kirbyville(certainly happier) and also the baseball program at Orangefield will benefit from a more disciplined environment.  As far as Trawhan being recommended by Huckaby, who do you think normally recommends a new coach?  Its the AD's job to screen new coaches, why would he pick one he did not think would have the same coaching mentallity as he does?
21. I was wondering how long before someone let the cat out of the bag.
22.
Huckaby withdraws name from EC job. [Hidden Content]
There are a whole lot of happy kids at Orangefield, not to mention 99% of us parents!!!!!
23.
The deep fly to left could have gone either way. Hard to say that it should have been a home run.
Pretty easy to say when the person with the closest view of the ball (left fielder) tells you it was fair.
