1. I see your logic, but I thought the zone of the umpire was down and at the knees.  Ever thought that both pitchers might have been a bit off.  First time I saw Mills,  but I have seen Pettite 3-4 times.  He was up in the zone in my opinion.  Mills is a bull no doubt, but he looked up in Zone as well.  . Easy to say that the umpires zone caused the high number of pitches.  I didn't think the guy behind the plate was that bad.  Seemed consistent to me.  What was your take on the umpire behind the plate?    I do think the 3rd base umpire was wrong on his Balk of Pettite early in the game.
2. I went and watched this game.  Both pitchers struggled a bit.  Pettite kept everything up most of the night.  Mills seemed to struggle as well with command. With the exception of 2-3 pitches the coaches didn't say much to the umpire behind the plate.  It is easy to place blame on the umpire for this, but if you look at the number of hits each team had then that could account for both pitchers throwing more pitches than normal.
3.
Starting this year all umpires that wanted to be eligible for playoffs either had to attend the State Convention or a Regional clinic for training. Chapters are contacted either by the UIL or by a school to schedule umpires for a series. We work split crews sometimes in series. 2 from each chapter. Sometimes it is a neutral crew that either the schools involved agree on a chapter to call, or the schools call the UIL and they call a chapter of their choice to send officials. When you say Umpire groups, we all are TASO umpires just different chapters. Not for sure if their are any UIL chapters in baseball, I have never called with any. I have made many friends throughout the State calling in split crews. Most Umpires that call in a playoff series will call at a level they are comfortable with.
Ok,  leaving Beaumont out of the equation.  What is the best baseball chapter in the area?  Who have you worked with this season and in years past.
4. How are umpires determined for the playoffs?  Do they have to meet any requirements and do you ever work with any other umpire groups?
5. The guy that was talking is on the bus heading back to Houston
6. Orangefield in 2 run rule games

10.
book keepers and clock operators please leave your D@%n phones in your vehicle.  I see it too often these people playing/texting/talking on their phones while working books or operating clock......acting like a bunch of kids. I just want slap the _____ out you. I heard there was issues at the silsbee/lee game...bookkeeper not even notifying the refs of someone fouling out till after that player played several possessions and that a player possibly had one to many fouls marked down for him. not sure if the bookkeeper was distracted by a phone or fans, but it does show lack of focus of the job at hand I agree with you on these points.  I will say this however,  some of these people dont get paid to run the cloth or keep the book.  It is assigned.  If they were paid then maybe they would take a better interest in what they are doing. Hope you don't slap your kids..... :o :o :o
11. You heard it on here first.......It will be an IN- HOUSE hire!!!!!!!
12. Please ??? ??? ???
13.

Stats, stats & more stats. Throw out your JV games and the story is much different. The battle will be won up front. Whoever wins the LOS will win this game. Not sure if Bh has as good a defense as Nederland or Dayton or Vidor, but we will see tonight. Not sure if Livingston has the offense to knock off the vaunted BH defense, but it has the tools to do it. Unique combination of power and speed in Livingston. The outcome is very much in doubt. Coaching could play a huge role in the outcome.
Well, I totally agree with your last statement; probably more than anything else I've read on here.  I really, really respect Coach Gage and what he has/is doing in the community, with the athletic program, and especially with his boys on the team.  HOWEVER...2 plays in the last 2 games could be telling!  Loading the box against Dayton with no backup on that 4 and 1, and not even thinking that SC could/would fake the punt on like BH's 40....Just hope and he and the staff don't get lulled into "watching" the game instead of coaching the game.  All that said though....I a SOOOOO thankful he came to BH!!!  Go Eagles, kick some bootayyyyy!!!
::) ::) ::)
14. Found out BH Eagle stadium holds close to 9,500.  Expanded last year after the season.  Was told the last couple of games at the stadium last year they put the band on the track.  So i guess that would have meant the last 2 district games last year.    Did some checking into Texas Bob site and see that the largest staduim in 19-4a is Turner followed by BH.  Crosby has the smallest stadium seating wise in the district.
15. i believe BH added on to their stands on the home side.  If they did then the stadium probably hold 8,000 - 9,000.
16. HD will not hang with ALTO.

18.
I have to say that Lumberton now has the 2nd best stadium in 20-4A. Since the upgrades both the home and visitor side are nice and seat a respectable amount. The restrooms and concessions are excellent. Until Nederland does something with their facilities and PNG can make more room on the visitor side to walk, I think Lumberton edges them out!
Lumberton is not even in the same zip code.
19. I think we will both agree that Livingston's stadium is as bad as it gets for a 4A program.
20.
PNG has a nice home side and the field is nice but if you have to sit on the visiting side it is very, very small and the parking is horrible!  Before it is even said, yes, I know Vidor's parking isn't all the great too.  ;)
Just was refering to the stadium and field.  Now parking and other things are a different issue.
21. Just looking for some honest opinions here:      My Opinion 20-4A:                          19-4A 1. The Butch                  1. Turner (Humble) 2. PNG                          2. Barbers Hill 3. Nederland                  3. Dayton 4. Lumberton                  4. C.E. King 5. Vidor                        5. Crosby 6. Livingston                  6.  New Caney Overall: 1. Turner 2. Butch 3. PNG 4. Barbers Hill 5. Dayton 6. Nederland
22. Lufkin Hudson has never had football on any level.  At one time it was brought before the board to start it in middle school , but it was nixed by the powers up top.
