Are the stats that close that you had to have two? These picks get crazier every year. Seems like it's losing the meaning that it use to have. I would think Beasley has the edge at catcher.
I could not find Beasley's stats but the Hearn kid is legit..New comer of the year last year.. this year.... .376 average 19 RBI's.. He picked off 6 and threw out 2 in district...He is solid at the dish... the kid is playing on the all Texas Sophmore team.. He is a first teamer.  In all district a tie is a tie.. they both get the award
The Beasley kid is legit as well!! No need to post any stats, stats can be misleading to say the least, but this young man's play speaks for it's self!

 3. Way too many pitches know matter who the pitcher is. A lot of coaches are more concerned with the "W", bottom line is, this should never happen!
 4. I seen the stats showed where both pitched, but you threw your ace (Davenport) 6 innings. Shows Hearn only threw 1 after game was out of hand. Why didn't you use other pitchers for some innings against Porter, you needed Davenport against Dayton for the whole game. Looking at the stats you had other kids to throw with quality outings. Oh well, good luck next year.
 5. Hearn (#2) from Crosby gave up the only run. They were starting to hit him pretty hard, then Davenport came in and pretty much shut them down the rest of the game. Crosby could not get any clutch hitting and Dayton pitchers threw well. From what I understand, Crosby threw Davenport 6 innings on Friday night against Porter, two days rest throws 4 more. I know they were in a must win game, but did you not have anyone else to throw Friday night? Hard to say, but I do know Dayton is a much better team than Porter. From what I hear Dayton and Crosby both have young teams, should be a tight district next year as well. Good luck to all the Sr.'s from both clubs.
 6. BH has the best coach in 19-4A. They don't make many errors and he makes the adjustments needed to win games. BH should make a deep run. They are a talented team.
 7. I was told Crosby won 16-9 in a game that was filled with errors by both teams. Also #30 for Humble hit a 2 run bomb that actually hit Crosby's bus about 50 feet over left center field , they did not know his name.
 8. They also have a very good coach. They come ready to play every game and make very few mistakes. This team should make a deep run in the playoffs.

That should make the KIDS feel good!! Not sure why you would want to degrade the young men from Crosby. The first game could have easily went the other way. The second game LCM came out on fire and played extremely well. We should remember that these kids read these post as well. Show some respect for the kids and the game. Congrats to Crosby and LCM on a good year. Good luck in the next round.
That was not meant towards the kids TEL. I just don't like seeing grown up's trashing kids on here. Thanks, and good luck to LCM!
TEL, these posters from LCM are kids.  Just FYI. at least the ones in this thread are.
Ok, thanks.

We are very proud of what he has accomplished so far and hoping for good things to come!!
Congrats Kody with a "K"!! Seems like yesterday when you were crawling around acting like a little Brad. Lord knows we can only take one of those. It has been a pleasure seeing you grow into the young man that you are today. I know the Thompson's and Carney's are proud!! Good luck at San Jac and to the rest of your season in the playoffs!

If Crosby can get to Long, then they have a good shot. GCM vs Lee is a toss-up. Not sure if Martinez will go now they have clinched. Seeley went 7 last night so I like the Patriots chances against rel's #2.
IDK.  Upshaw may get the start.. has a era 5.76.... tring to bring it down from the 10 runs bridge city put on him in 2 inn.. He has worked on his form sence then... and is throwing well.... also have Herbert in the stables if he gets a hit a little.  district era at 2.06 with 21 K's in 13 inn in district... If the coogs D can play well.... I have to give the advantage to them.. As for Lee vs GCM... I think GCM "D" and their hitting will beat LEE..
Personally, I would not throw Upshaw, but wiggins probably will and leave him in too long.  I would go w/ Hebert.
I agree, Hebert is the better of the two.

I have seen coaches pitch a kid 170+..GCM vs Crosby last year.. that seemed crazy to me... Gabby's arm is better... he had a sore arm early in the year but is fine now... and has had low pitch counts all year... GCM just hit the ball... Good Job GCM.. As for bring in Herbert, maybe they need him for friday?? which is worse.. letting a kid pitch 110 pitches (which is not that high) or pitching a kid in back to back games???
You guys that think 100 pitches ain't that many or there is a difference between 100 and 110 should be high school coaches.  Many a high school talent has been ruined by coaches that didn't respect a good arm.  Ask a pitcher that has been overthrown after the game how his arm feels and he can clarify that for you.  The pros start to get concerned after 90 even if the pitcher is still showing control because they have so much money riding on them. They realized they were shortening the lifespan of their pitching talent years ago and started getting smarter.
Coldn't agree more, 100 pitches is certanly not to be taken lightly.  Some high school coaches don't agree as I am sure you have seen.
You are right about that!!
It was both.... You can throw Andy Dewey's name in there also.
I agree EAGLE07, I think we had this discussion before. I also agree with what someone said earlier, you have to take care of your pitchers arm, ice, stay in shape, etc.. but I will still say that High School kids shouldn't be throwing 100 + pitches no matter what. Also, I know their are alot of good coaches out there but don't leave it up to them to take care of your kid.
Really? So parents... Go keep a pitch count and take your child off the field when they get to 100 pitches. How about trust the coach or take your kid off the team.
Not my point, but since you wanna go down that road. I'm saying don't just leave it up to the coach or his staff to care for your son's future. Parents need to take on that responsibility as well. The coach isn't with him 24/7. It's not even my kid, I don't have a dog in the fight. So your saying trust the coach no matter what? WOW! Do you have him over every night for dinner and to tuck your kids in also? :-* :-*
 17.
While I don't care to elaborate as to what caused Smesny's injury I will give an update since his name has been mentioned. Frank has been medically released and is about 85% finished with rehab. He is throwing on the mound again, progressing rapidly, and will pitch with Kyle Chapman this summer and see where it goes.
Glad to hear it!!

 19.
Not sure, but I believe MLB keeps up with the pitch count.
All levels keep a pitch count, what's your point?
 20. What are your thoughts on High School kids throwing 100 pitches or more in a game? I was basically told I was ignorant for speaking up about this. Anyone in 19-4A remember what happened to Smesney from Dayton when he got to Angelina after throwing 100+ on several outings? Why take a chance with a kids future? Should parents not be able to speak up about the welfare of their children or others?
 21.
Interesting,  he actually has not thrown many pitches in any game, until this game.  Not sure where you are getting your info from????  every game he has pitched in district has been low pitch counts.  He has only pitched on Tuesday nights.  Not sure if you have a clue TEL!   If being on a rotation, like most everyone in the district, is pitching too much then WOW is all I can say to your ignorance! Anyways, Good Game GCM!
What do you call 106 pitches DEADBEAT, I mean DEADSPIN?? I guess you can call me ignorant for speaking up and being concerned about his health, so how does that make you look?

He is a good kid that deserves to pitch at the next level. I seen the Dayton coach throw Smesney way too much three years ago, when he got to Angelina he had Tommy John surgery. I don't think he needs to be throwing over 100 pitches or close to that in any game. You can call it ignorance if you want but you apparently are not concerned with his health. Anyone else out there with any baseball knowledge want to give their thoughts on HIGH SCHOOL kids throwing over a 100 pitches?? Why not bring in Hebert to start the 6th? I do have a clue about pitching, and about seeing kids being able to play at the next level!!
