  1. OK, the Miller kid looks good but I don't like the drill from the earlier link. It looks like it could start some bad habits and cause hitters to get too far out on the front side. I believe you can teach hitters to be more balanced without all that.
  2. Bear with me, I'm no expert, but what do you mean by hitting against the frontside?
  3. I totally don't know what you want me to look at. I did open up some kid hitting under "drills", and did not understand why he was way out on his front foot and his back foot even came way off the ground...........What's that all about ?
  4. There have been so many it's hard to pick one, but I'll pick WOS-Jasper in the 1986 quarter-final. Jasper beat the Stangs in district earlier that year and this was the rematch. It was a very close game until Desmond Smith scored for WOS on a trick play ( guard around) that worked perfectly. The rest is history as the Mustangs went on to win state that year and in 87. That was probably the most talented bunch I have ever seen in Jasper...........and they have had some good ones.
  5. Do you think it's right when your AD makes all football players participate in FB off season workouts, even if they are involved in other sports ? I vote YES..........except on game days.
  6. Good point aggie, but I'm sure it's not just stats that they look at. Sometimes the best player won't have the best stats, but he should have good ones. This is not the case however with Mosley, they should go ahead and ingrave his name on the Offensive trophy!
  7. I think the earlier the better, as long as they are mature enough to pay attention and give the needed effort. That way it will cut down on developing bad habits. If you are going to learn, you may as well learn the RIGHT way to hit & throw etc. That goes for Dad too about the learning ! Problem is, you might have trouble getting in at an early age. These guys don't want to waste time with a kid thats not ready and you can't blame them.
  8. "Not even close" you say, I gotta meet this guy. Where does he train ? Do you have a number ? I'm serious. Don't know Bardin but I do know Sam Moore and this guy is loaded with baseball knowledge. Sam is known for working the kids pretty hard so he may not be for everyone..................Only those who are serious about the game.
  9. They are teaching the same mechanics of how to hit a baseball. Some of their drills may vary and the way they relate to kids may be different but the method they teach is the same.
  10. He must have a younger brother, you are not talking about Don Stump who played at McNeese are you?
  11. Scooter, first off let me say that the first lady looks very nice.......that is her picture right? Second, Cajun's have no problem making gumbo out of anything especially shrimp & chicken. And 3rd, Maybe you should start out as President of a Mardi Gras float in the PA parade..........You got my vote on that one!
  12. I want to party with you..........if there's gonna be refreshments?
  13. Stump? I don't believe that one !
  14. I can't believe people actually think like that (raidermania)........ If there is ONE thing for sure that Lumberton wins at........ It's having the most hits on their post ! I wonder why ?
  15. I'm not selling them short at all. I know kids who have made incredible progress from taking private lessons and yes, even gone on to play college ball. I have two kids who take lessons as well so I believe in it. There is no question that a good coach or instructor can improve ones skills. But in my opinion, If you get to the D1 level.............You need to thank GOD first, then you can thank the coach, cause thats where little Johnny got that arm that throws 90mph plus.....Yea, coach Bubba showed him a nasty slider but without that arm, he aint' going D1.
  16. I think Bridge City wins it.............. and I don't think WOS will be last.
  17. I also would not question what Griff teaches, his winning record speaks for itself.
  18. I know that Sam and Jeremy are on the same page with their hitting lessons and coach Griff wants his hitters doing something a little different.
  19. I'll ask him. I do know he learned alot from Sam. Sam coached with Griff at LCM when Jeremy played.
  20. Chris Fackler also knows alot, I think he's at McNeese now.
  21. You gotta have alot more going for you than a good instructor to go D1........It's called "SKILLS" and I'll take your word that these instructors are good.........But that aint' why these kids are playing D1 ball !
