  1. You must be a young fellow cause Bart was not even in the picture when I was in school. Actually, Coach David Williams was first nicknamed "Daredevil Dave" because of his daring feats to show off by performing stunts to show us his athletic skills in 1976. He would have us doing gymnastic type drills and he loved showing us how to do it. This was at Little Cypress Jr. High in his first coaching job fresh out of College. We later pegged him as DW cause it was just easier to say, and we called our other jr. high coaches by their initials too: EB Ellis Boyd and KW Ken Willis. Ken Willis moved a couple years later and Ellis Boyd is at the high school now and known simply as Mr. Boyd but DWs name would stick because of a handful of smart a$$e$ in Jr. high school. I would never call him DW to his face, even after my graduation in 1980, but I did let him know about it when he decided to retire two years ago. So do you need to send me a pm to tell me what you used to call Bart ? I forgot JT Johnny Taylor. He was a character also !
  2. OK, so DW is your best friend. Bet you don't know how he became DW instead of Coach Williams ?
  3. I just ran into a friend of mine who has been working 3 jobs.. One fulltime day job and 2 partime night jobs. He applied for a new job that pays very well, and then called DW to see if he knew the guy. Coach Williams did not, but offered to give him a call anyway. After making several attempts to reach the man without success he drove down to the business to meet him and put in a good word for his former player.
  4. One thing for sure...........they won't surprise anyone this year. That being said, makes for a tougher fight to get into the playoffs in 07. But, they should compete for a spot.
  5. Well, Texas is kinda BIG and I can't speak for schools outside of our area, except Permian. I know a little about them. In setx I would pick PNG and I would have to mention the winning traditions at WOS and Newton. Also, I don't think anybody has a better halftime show than Bmt. Central except for Vidor on homecoming night.
  6. Well, I guess history has to eventually change, but not this year and probably not the year after, or the year after that.....................WOS !
  7. Yea, they usually have guys that CAN FLY. I'll bet Brooks can get some sprinters back out for track next year. We just gotta wait & see.
  8. Your probably right. Heck, anybody that can live up there has got to be tough. Like I said, way too cold for me in Alaska !
  9. Alaska ? Way too cold for me there scooter. I bet its hard to find a football game there too.
  10. No question that Griff is a winner. This year has been a prime example of his coaching skills. One returning varsity player and a bunch of young ones that have learned how to win. Thats impressive ! But, I don't like the Batman & Robin comparison................I never liked Batman and Robin is, well...........................a little too sweet looking. But hats off to Griff & company !
  11. I would have to pick LCM............... and also would like to tip my hat to coach Griff for what he has done this year with a young team and only one returning starter. I know there is still alot of ball to play but, he has got more out of his team this year than any coach around. Regardless of what happens the rest of the season. Griff has my vote for coach of the year !
  12. Don't know for sure but you can bet Thomas Brooks will find a few good men and work em hard. Lets remember that Jasper has got more than a few athletes to pick from ! Brooks is a proven winner too. His credentials include state championships as a player at Bmt. Hebert and as a coach at WOS and Waxihachie.
  13. In SETX ? Well thats a no brainer..........................WOS MUSTANGS !
  14. You can bet that Vinton will have a few with skills & speed
  15. Come on, If it ain't broke....................................you know the rest ! But they most likely have the players to pull it off. problem is: Nederland is a ball control type team and there is not alot of TO possesion with the spread. It could hurt em. But, good luck with it Dogs.
  16. Yea, South Park used to have a few good ones. They had this guy back in 1979 named Olin Green. This guy made All State both ways as a TE and DE. I remember trying to block him, I hit him as hard and solid as I could and it was like running into a train. I just bounced off and he would make the tackle. I did not suck either.............................. this guy could flat out play !
  17. How can you argue with a State Championship and Worster. He was an All American. Was it 1966 ? I thought it was 68. Either way...........they are the BEST EVER at BC ..........No question !
  18. Quinton Tezeno-WOS.........played saftey on the 1986,87 State Championship teams. Never saw anybody hit like that in high school ball. He ended up at New Mexico State where SI listed him as one of the hardest hitting DB's in College football. A knee injury ended his football career a short time later.
  19. For sure, College kids need to swing the wood. Too many HR's hit with metal bats.
  20. Yep, your right............that sounds better anyway. I'm not real good with numbers unless they have a $$$$ sign in front of them !
