1.
Maybe the worst umpired game I've seen in a while.  No way Legget should have been ejected.  No way the catcher missed that tag on the runner at 3rd. Other than that, it was fun to watch. Round 1 goes to the Hill.
He did not miss the tag, he tagged him with a empty glove, the ball was in the throwing hand, that means he was safe. That call by the umpire was the only one he got right.
 2. BH came close to winning against Crosby in their own tournament and GCM and Crosby had a close game, so I Don't see the Goose running away with the game. BH 6 GCM 4
 3. Why would a high school coach or parent let a kid throw that many pitches, it's up to us to do the right thing for the kids. He has his whole future in front of him, hate to see it wasted.
 4. We need Jason Krug, He is a great Hitting instructor, I believe some of the kids already go to him, but we need that kind of teaching talent for our boys.
 5. Looks like GCMP got their butts kicked. I guess De Kaney was't in the tournament.
 6.
It sounds like BH didn't show up last night.  They have nobody besides Lyday that has some experience at the plate.  They are missing a couple big hitters.  I mean besides the pitching BH has had over the last 4 years with Hales, Thamm, Burditt, Silva, and Kelly they have had some very stong lineups.  If you look back to 07 you had Townley, Cambell,Hulsey, Hales, Ponder, Thamm.  If you look at 08 you had Hales, Silva, Thamm, Ponder, Burditt.  Last year you had Hencesy, Ponder, Burditt, Lyday.  This year they do not have much experience at the plate, but that is just me.
I have been watching the boys from BH for years and the team that was put together last year were the best nine and all deserved to be there.
BH 12 Luthern South 3 Bottom of 5th. BH batting w/ bases loaded. Cole Young started on the bump for the Eagles. Freshman Preston Townley now pitching for BH.
Who all is in that tournament?
must be De Kaney
 8. Anyone can hit a triple when they are feeding you potatoes, and I'm 68 and could have pitched a complete game shutout. Come on 16 runs on 6 hits, I would not want anyone to know I even stooped that low.
 9. I tell you that's nothing to be bragging about, it's like playing Mary's school for the blind.

Maybe we could get their Little League records." Wow! I'm guessing your either not impressed or care to much with the rest of the kids on the list. To make a statement like that without knowing anything about them. Good job GCMPats! Time will tell.
Not that at all. Just not much "book" out there on them except for the Long kid. Very few varsity game innings on the entire staff. Does not mean anything except that their last "Big" game was probably in a District 17, 12 yr old all-star game. Nothing more, nothing less.
GCMPats your a real winner.
You obviously have missed the point here. It's not a "dig" on the Eagles or their abilities. It's one persons opinion on what they have pitching wise. They are young. Do we not agree on that? They have little varsity experience. Do we not agree on that? Playing on the Soph and JV team does not compare to playing in those games where a PLAYOFF position is on the line or if you lose you go home. That's the point! The last time these guys pitched in a game where if they or  their team was off, they did not advance was in LITTLE LEAGUE (not counting "select" tournaments in this discussion). Why does that opinion make me a "winner"? I have the utmost respect for the athletes at Barbers Hill. They compete and excel at EVERY sport on EVERY level. I have enjoyed the games between GCM and BH. To be the best, you have to play the best. I am not saying that these young kids will not come in and dominate 19-4A pitching wise this year. I'm just saying they have not truly been battle tested! [/quote/ Last year all of BH pitchers with the exception of Alexa Rocha were first time pitchers at the varsity level and I believe one of them was first Team All District Pitcher and All Houston 4A First Team pitcher so you never know what is going to happen.

As a father and coach of a select and league ball player I can tell you that select ball gives players more of a chance get noticed. Example 1 lets start with the younger kids, lets say a 12 year old plays league ball only and can flat out pitch or hit but his allstar team is not that great. Well only the people from his area will know him. Take that same kid and put him on a good team at Ford park or Baseball USA or say Field of dreams every other weekend well kids parents and coaches from all over see him and remember him.  Now move up to a HS kid lets say a small school a Evedale or High Island if  he only plays for his school and the team is average to bad I promise he never gets noticed, Take that same kid put on the Sun Devils, GTB, Gladiators or heaven for bid Banditos Black team That kid now gets seen at tournaments by ex college players and coaches as well as scouts that have learned that these teams produce great ballplayers. My son is on 12 and plays select and league and will probably never be good enough to play for a team like the SD's but if he  were we would gladly accept the coaching and exposer they offer. Select is here to stay people and Yes I for one believe it helps get kids to the next level. I know there are kids out there that make it to the next level without select but they are way out numbered by the ones that play both.
Im not saying select ball is bad.  You are obviously not getting my point.  My point boils down to this...  IF LITTLE JOHNNY PLAYS FOR THE SUNDEVILS AND RECEIVES A SCHOLARSHIP, HE EARNED THAT SCHOLARSHIP. THE SUNDEVILS, OR ANY OTHER ORGANIZATION DID NOT GET HIM THAT SCHOLARSHIP.  I am so tired of hearing this organization, or that organization got my son a scholarship. Your sons talent got him that scholarship.  Your sons talent also landed him on the sundevils.  Give some credit to the kids every now and then for being talented baseball players.
I know how hard my son worked and we were on various select teams, playing on these teams gives you more exposure. Most teams like the Sundevils scout players that already have talent and that helps them make a name for themselves and bring out the college and pro scouts to look at their players. But most of these kids got the talent from putting in the time and dads and moms support, not from the select team.
Dayton lost a great pitcher in Smesny, no doubt, but we have Sr RHP Cameron Crapo, who didnt see the mound very much last year, and also JR LHP Dylan Kolarik coming back. Also look to see a whole lot of new faces.
We watched Cameron pitch this summer for the Bandits and he was very tough on the mound.
Are you talking about #4 Alex, Great Kid wish him the best. BH also has a pitcher who is a senior this year but did not get to play last year due to a injury and he is quite good. When you played at BH the score was 13-5 and we went thru your pitchers like water, with a few homeruns, quite the spanking
You guys on the Hill might want to set aside some of that "football turf" money for your baseball facility improvements. I have a feeling you might need to construct a fall-out shelter from all the BOMBS that are about to be dropped on your pitching staff this year. As for last years game at BH. Yep. Ya'll lit up a freshman and another soph. Not bad for that SR laiden line-up. Maybe ya'll can play a JV schedule in basball this year too.
Price Jacobs pitched the first game and we all know he is good, plays for the Sundevils and Butler started the second game who was a Jr last year, who has also played select most of his life. I doubt you drop any bombs on us, you were lucky to got the dinks you did.
