1. I would also like to say that I was very impressed with WOS defense tonight!  Everyone has been concerned about how much the offense is progressing but tonight, in my opinion, was the best performance by the Chain Gang this year.
2. I think it will be close for most of the game.  When it's all said and done, I expect WOS to win by two TDs.  Silsbee has always had a great game plan for the Mustangs...like making it rain...just kidding.  :)
3.
Scooter, that's the second time I have heard you say that. I now dub thee an honorary mustang. Lol.
I second that!!
4. Well, I probably shouldn't have even replied to his remark.  It is a football forum and if he wishes to speculate where in life it will take everyone, then so be it.
5.
Big deal y'all won a football wheres it going to get y'all in life no were
Cowboy8....You can't form a complete sentence, yet you expect this to be an insult?  There are plenty of WOS grads that have used football as their way to get to college.  There are also many that have done well just through academics and furthermore, I would guess that most have done better than yourself.  Like others have said before....my WOS education has served me and numerous others well!!
Yes, it's on KOGT.com but I can't get it over here in Afghanistan......I guess the stuff is blocked.
Afghanistan...wow!!  I am assuming that you are there with the military?  How long have you been there and how much longer do you have?
7.
BC probably will not win.  I think it will be a close game, at least closer than what the WOS fans think.  I just want BC to win so all the hoity toity WOS fans can learn a leasson in humility. Not that even that will help.
I just want WOS to win because I want them to win.  Not really worried about what lessons BC learns from it.
8. lol.......they would come unglued.  Oh how the excuses would flow......the ref's caused it, the ball didn't have the proper air in it, the moon was out of alignment, you name it.
No, when comparing ourselves to another team and we share BC as a common opponent, we would say things like "even though we lost, we scored 31 against BC and how many did ya'll score".

Bridge City put up 31 on K'ville.........bottom line you are not as good as K'ville hence 35 points for our offense.  No one has shut down the Cardinal offense all year. 2. Bridge City defense has pitched a couple of shutouts and I think your offense will score about 31 on them because they are that good.....I actually gave you the benefit of the doubt.  However, actually it wouldn't surprise me if you only put up about 21 on the Bridge City defense.
That's your claim to fame...31 points against Kville?  How about the 50+ you gave up?  Yes, WOS only scored twice  against Kville but it was our QBs first game and he along with our offense have progressed each week.  Furthermore I am supposed to believe that BC will hang 35 points on the WO-S defense but scored around the same against H-J(42), Stafford(36), Vidor (31) and Kelly (41)??  I know the rebutal..."but we scored 31 against Kville"....makes sense because Kville kicked off to BC a dozen times after touchdowns. Pitching a couple shut outs?  Against the highly touted Stafford, Shepherd and H-J offenses!!

11. In my limited perspective, I would consider Fred Ford the best.  However, if Britton Lindsey carried the ball more than 10 times per game, he might be in the conversation.
12. Is everyone healthy for this game?
13. Since the question is "Who Takes The Title" I will not rank 2nd, 3rd etc.  BC looks to be playing good ball but has not beat a quality opponent.  I watched Silsbee vs Lumberton and walked away from their loss to Lumberton feeling they were talented but very beatable.  My prediction is that the WOS offense continues to progress and take the district title.
14. #43 ran the ball very well on the initial drive and then we saw very little of him.  Is he ok?  If so, why not run him more.....he was chewing up real estate in chunks.
15. I have heard what a great student and how intelligent Reggie was.  I have heard and witnessed what a great athlete he was.  I have heard nothing but positive things (even before his death) about his character and the person he was.  We can't choose how smart we will be or how gifted we will be athletically but we can make the right choices and choose to be the best person we can be and I applaude Reggie for being the person he was.  I have had some friends when I was younger and have known some young people later on that have met a tragic end because of bad choices and that was hard to deal with.  This is especially hard because this young man made the right choices and his choices did not affect his end.  I have prayed and will continue to pray for Reggie's family, friends, classmates, teammates, coaches and Mustang fans.  I was only a fan in the stands and am hurting, so I will not pretend to know the grief those close to him are going through but do know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
16.
If Hooks stays around for another state championship, like some of you WOS homers suggest, he maybe coaching well into his 80's. From a 5A school and 4A school (9A's) 30 years ago, from a school that was once a 3-time state finalist in the 80's, from a team that was pretty good (dominate) as a 4A for 25 years, to today.  Yeah, I would classify that as pretty embarrassing.  WOS is a shell of what they once were.  If anyone can get on here and say that their 6 year run in 3A has been successful, then I challenge their knowledge.  Beating OF, BC, HJ, HF, and the likes don't classify you as a power.  Thats hardly the resume they built up beating the Beaumont schools, mid-county schools, and Houston schools for years.   If you were to go back 10 years and tell people in SE Texas that WOS would lose 2 first round playoff games to 3A schools they would have looked at you like you were retarded.  6 years in 3A, 2 first round loses, 1 semifinal birth, and no state championship games.  What a shame for a program that still wants to think of itself as an elite program, and power.
In 4A WO-S lost first round playoff games to 4A schools several times.  Now it has happened in 3A...again...big deal.  Does WO-S have any state championships in their 3A tenure?  No, and they didnt have any in the 90's (a finalist in 2000) when they were, as you put it "beating up Beaumont, mid county, and Houston schools".  Does that make their 4A teams in the 90's unsuccessful?  No, the WOS coaches and players put a lot of really good teams on the field and gave the community something to be proud of.  I also don't think the 6 years in 3A have been unsuccessful.  In those 6 years WO-S has complied a 59-11 record (84% winning percentage), has beaten the likes of Nederland, Bay City, Beaumont Central, Jasper, Dayton, Giddings, Silsbee, Kirbyville (not exactly the little kids on the block) and produced several D1 athletes.  Things are fine in Mustang country
17. Wow I love the irony Pirates73.  Your signature says "its all about the kids" but you want WO-S to lose so that Hooks can hang his head low.
18. Are you sure this picture is current? #66 looks like he is from the Class of '86
19. I don't really know much about stats for a lot of those players listed but Ronnie Dennis(WOS) has to be in at WR
20. Kvillecheer it is a valid point but when you run into a team that can stop or slow down the run in the playoffs, and your passing game is rusty or ineffective then your season is done.
21. I actually have that paper right in front of me and Joe's prediction reads: "This is the game the boys with Dave Campbell's magazine claims will cause the Mustangs to unsuccessfully defend their District 21-3A title. This will not be a walk in the park for the Stangs....." Sounds like he is taking them pretty serious to me. *Oh I misread you..a paper this summer. I was reading this weeks paper.
22. What exactly has Kville done to warrant WO-S being underdogs? Granted it really doesn't matter but its not like they have knocked off Giddings or SLC. However, I do think it will be a good game.
23. I'm heading to the Dallas area this weekend and plan on attending that game.
24. As you can tell I don't say much on here but this one rubbed me the wrong way. I think our students and student athletes will be just fine with "life in general".
25. Excellent point Lucky. I am a big Coach Thompson fan and the WOS program is better because of him. However while he was gone we did have two 8-2 seasons our last two years in 4A, while having one of the smallest enrollments in 4A. The WOS program is a consistent winner because of the coaches. They always put a quality, well coached team on the field.
