  1. Coach Bickham did make this year's schedule. Buna was on last year's pre-district schedule - now in the same district with Deweyville so that left an opening. Evadale has been on the schedule for the last 12 years. They have played Cathedreal once about 4 or 5 years ago. They played Tarkington (3A) last year in pre-district, lost a very close game. Can't remember if High Island was on the schedule or not with the Rita mess. And I personally believe in scheduling the toughest schedule you can possibly schedule to get ready for district. I am not a fan at all of Coach Bickham's nor of DP#1Fan but I love the kids there. And this mess is starting to get silly. No one held a gun to the heads of the coaches at Cathedral/Evadale/High Island / and even Burkeville (they are down this year) making them agree to play. Coach Bickham scheduled the games but so did the coaches from the other schools. I'm replying on here because the kids of Deweyville don't deserve this mess and KIDS DO READ THIS SITE!!!!!!
  2. rhino, and that game with Chester was in the rain....lol and cold....couldn't have scored that much if you hadn't been such a good lead blocker that they couldn't see LM behind you......give me a call sometime. Sounds like a good game Friday night. When does your little guys start?
  3. Justin Williams (Deweyville) - 258 yeards (5 TDs) 23
  4. Is there a final yet? Any stats? RB Williams should get some good looks from colleges this year.
  5. Everything is going great here at Chireno. I've never been so blessed in my life as to have the opportunity to live and coach here. Thanks for asking. Good luck to you guys this year. Hope to see you down the road.
  6. Sorry, don't know anything about his background. I know he was recommended by the Principal, who is a class guy. Just spoke to him at a couple of the lectures. He knows the kids and their abilities and seems to have a very good knowledge of the game from our conversations.
  7. Met him at coaching school, nice guy, will do a great job with the Pirates this year.
  8. You may meet the Bucs again to see who is the best in Newton County????? The Bucs are in Chambers County......makes about as much sense as the rest of your post. Are you saying there couldn't have been a come-back. Deweyville may not have beat them but they could have posted a come-back. But I'm sure Deweyville ordered the lightning especially for that night.
  9. Don't think he will leave a PLAYOFF team. This group of seniors (if memory serves me correctly): Lost only one game in the 7th grade (West Hardin I think). Lost only one game in the 8th grede (West Hardin). They practically made up the entire jv as 9th graders - lost only one game. As sophomores making up the majority of the varsity they won 4 games and played a lot of close games in district. As juniors they made the playoffs. No one in his right mind would leave these kids.
  10. Thanks proudpiratefan, thanks for your support. We really loved our time at Deweyville and love all of you (some not as much as others...lol) but we do miss you all and wish the PIRATES nothing but the best this coming school year. I sincerely hope that playoffs are achieved in every sport. There are some wonderful people there and some awesome kids. We do absolutely love it here in Chireno. But that in no way speaks negatively about Deweyville.
  11. Thanks a lot guys. I've been at work here at Chireno for four days and things are fantastic. We've had four really great days of BASKETBALL off-season. Just a side note: there are 101 kids in high school - so approximately 50 boys. 31 are in the basketball program and then there are 12 straight baseball players. So that is approximately 43 out of 50 boys in high shcool in athletiics. WOW Thanks for your support.
  12. This is my last post on this subject. The only reason I posted on here in the first place was to take up for the kids of Deweyville. As far as the "Sour Grapes" you can't have it both ways. But I appreciate you best wishes and I only wish Deweyville Basketball the very best next year and in the years to come. As I have stated repeatedly on here they are a super bunch of kids who will give it all they have for their new coach. If you have anything further to address to me you can email me at [email protected] because I will no longer answer on this thread.
  13. rhino I looked it up and I think you spelled it correctly - Shazam!
  14. Small school it has to be a tie between East Chambers and Kountze.
  15. I Don't eat GRAPES. I have read the posts, and they are the type of immature crap that opens people up to running down things (in this case to basically begging someone to down the kids of Dville - you are inviting trouble for them). And I don't eat GRAPES. But when you criticize kids on a public forum that IS childish and immature. So don't tell me to read the posts. I've read your posts on here and other message boards. And yes I know what you mean by sour grapes. But I DON'T EAT GRAPES!!! So it doesn't apply. Yes, in all your mighty wisdom you influenced your boy to reassign me then run all over Dville braging about it. Yes, you took away my job. But if you want to know the truth I now have THE BEST basketball coaching job in the state of Texas. So I would like to officially and publicly THANK YOU for your effots on my behalf. My only post up til this one has been to build up the kids of Dville in a very positive manner and I will continue to do so. They are great kids and are not responsible for who their parents are or what their parents do OR SAY.
  16. Congratulations to Lumberton Schools. You have a great BASKETBALL coach and he is a heck of a person too. You did RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Warren did have their starting point guard and their starting post out when we played them. And they started five sophomores. And yes Jacob did play against Warren and yes he had a bad ankle sprain. And Deweyville won 57-48. Please don't blame the kids or down the kids from Deweyville because of things that belong to couple of school board members and a football AD. They are a great bunch of kids and will give it everything they have next year for the new coach. I honestly can't see them playing with Kountze or EC but I can see them making a realistic run for third. Yes, Warren will be tough, as will Anahuac and Hardin is always tough. And from what I understand Buna was also young. Deweyville did beat them in the first game of the year as Jacob knocked down 6 of 7 free throws in the last two minutes of the game. So it should be a fun district. But please don't dog the kids on here because of some Deweyville school board member that gets on here and runs his mouth. They have: Kevin Bland returning. As a sophomore, averaged 13.9 ppg and 11 rpg and will be about 6-6 and does a great job inside. Jimmy Folsom, 6-0, as a sophomore this year averaged 9.8 ppg and was second team all-district. and is a very good inside and has a nice outside shot. Has the best ups on the team. Tanner Hyman, 6-0 or 6-1, as a junior this year averaged 9.8 ppg and is a very good outside shooter. I think next year he will be a better shooter than Broc Hayman from Bridge City was this year. Plus he does a great job of the boards and defensively. Derek Bass, 6-0, as a junior averaged 4.6 but he also plays great defense on post and perimeter players and also works hard on the boards. Matthew Manning, 5-10 sophomore only averaged 1.8 ppg but had some really nice games in district. Brandon Lucas, 5-5 junior, averaged 1 ppg but was a real spark plug on the team and made All-Tournament this year in the Deweyville Classic. Dustin Odom, 5-10 junior, averaged 0.4 ppg but had sat out a year of basketball and next year should really contribute big time. They all got a lot of varsity experience as we did not have a senior on the team. Then there are some good kids that will move up from the JV team. Give these guys a shot. Good Luck Pirates!!! whsalum thanks for your support, I know you are not dogging the kids, that wasn't meant for you. But when DP#1 gets on here and agitates by running his mouth it will start. Again whsalum thanks for your support. Coach Larry Jackson
  18. I have to go with Thomas from East Chambers. The only person that can hold him is Hargraves.
  19. It is not even close, EVADALE has the best high school gym in the Golden Triangle. Maybe some seat more (that would probably be close). But IMO there isn't a gym I've been in that is close to Evadale's.
  20. I don't think Deweyville turned in only 205, where did that number come from? I think it is closer to 238.
