  1. The school and many around town absolutely knew about this. The same way they knew about the coach and student(s) relationship during the 16 championship run. In both cases they were just hoping it would go away. In both cases they were way wrong. Justice often takes time.
  2. Saw last weekends games and saw the tourney run by Shawn's boys. If I remember correctly back in 07 Jasper had a bunch of sore arms come late playoff and State Tournament time and they had to drastically change they way they had done things for most of the year to play to a new found strength. That's the sign of great coaching. We've got that again here. From what I saw last weekend this Bulldog team was much better than a very good Robinson team. I also saw both games vs Hudson this year. This years group is solid. Now the above is coming from an old man who now resides in Carthage but the one true difference between the two teams sits on the ring finger of the 07 players and coaches from Jasper. Hopefully by the end of next week we can call the two teams equal.
  3. Might be somewhat off topic but I read in the local paper where someone recently filed several complaints against Carthage High School with the TEA, Department of Justice, The Office of Civil Rights, and the Office of Equal Opportunity Commission stating that the students and staff are treated differently at the high school based on race. It was noted in the article that 3 students were severely punished and put in alternative school while the QB was not punished for video taping a girl in the shower. It also talked about the AD/Head Football Coach and Superintendent getting huge raises while at the same time the campus Police Officer was released from his duties for lack of funds. Some crazy goings on in Championshipville, Tx.
  4. Like so many he might if he thought the incident was gonna go away. He's very close to the QB's family. Having a coach on his staff busted last year for having inappropriate relations with a student(s) and another coach this year having to resign for allegations of the same doesn't bode well.
  5. It took me about a day to digest the baseball game I witnessed Saturday afternoon and evening in Jasper. First off, to the school board and administration at Jasper you sure got it right building our beautiful athletic complex. Kudos to you all. Without this beautiful, all weather complex the 3 rain delays totaling more then 3 hours of idle time this classic game would of been postponed to another date or cancelled all together. Secondly the historical game (for our Kirbyville neighbors) I was fortunate enough to witness might go down as one of the best high school baseball games this old man has ever seen. The game itself saw Kirbyville build up what looked to be an insurmountable 7-3 lead with two outs in the 7th inning. One more out moves them up to the next regional round. Their opponent Central has one man on base and two strikes on their hitter when their rally starts. Central somehow manages to score 4 runs with two outs to tie the score at 7. To add to that drama Kirbyville barely escapes falling behind during Centrals last ditch rally. In the bottom of the 7th and 8th innings Central escapes by moving pitchers in and out of the game switching positions with different players. These moves that I did not even know were allowed to be made. Kirbyville then has to rally in the 8th inning as Central had taken an 8-7 lead. Kirbyville then ties the game and now its Centrals turn to escape further damage which they do. This forces 3 more innings another rain delay more Houdini escapes by both teams and ultimately a two out single by the number 9 hitter and winning pitcher in Kirbyvilles lineup. Besides the winning Kirbyville team and their fans the biggest winner is my hometown for being able to host such a riveting game.
  6. Where did he go? Who is there now?
  7. Makes absolutely no sense. Great candidates have been contacted and interviewed, great facilities, great tradition, and yet they cant get a head baseball coach in Jasper. Makes no sense at all.
  8. Heard a rumor that former Carthage and current Central Head Baseball Coach Jim Goldman has been contacted. He's got a ring, Jasper ties and his teams always seem to be in the hunt. Any truth to this?
  9. I would think that this is a no brainer and a UIL no brainer at that. Since they flipped home/home( LCM won the flip) and if LCM's home field is unplayable then they have to play in Jasper if Jaspers field is playable.
  10. Saw them last year in the Regional Semi Finals beat WOS in Kilgore , and then WOS beat em twice in Lake Charles. At the time their radio guy said it was one of the youngest teams they had had. Then in a tournament back in Kilgore this year I heard from their fans that they returned all of their pitching, their entire infield and 2/3 of their outfield. That's a huge accomplishment for the Jasper bunch. How far did that HR travel 410+ft, 12 K's, McMillan is a beast.
  11. Great game last night. Carthage's pitcher made one mistake and that HR was a bomb. I know from the end of last year and their game 3 loss to WOS in the semis to now Carthage felt that this was about to be their year. They were returning their entire team from that WOS series. They had their chances but McMillan was just too dominate. He is a beast. Great game go Dogs!
  12. Unless Coach Mixons daughter switches to baseball next year that probably wont be happening. I also heard that Coach Wilroy may not be there next year. Like Coach Stadley, he wasnt happy about it either. Both coaches liked it there.
  13. The parents??? You gotta be kidding. Thats where so many of the hs problems arise from. At the high school level the coaches coach, the kids play the game and the parents pay the taxes. They dont even enter into this equation. Good Luck Coach Stadley at GP. They just got a lot better.
  14. All I know is that he did an outstanding job and that his kids came to play every single night. He's an ET guy and he did not want to leave. Woodville lost a great one, but as what was stated above baseball is baseball. Whatever that means Im sure that had plenty to do with the decision. Where ever he ends up they got em one hell of a coach with a passion for the game and the ability to get the most out of his players.
