I guess you have to have something to hold on to.  You might want to erase the last 15 years, at least as far Nederland goes. :)
I'm fine with y'all having those fifteen years. If we erase those, we erase some of our own best seasons (1999, 2003, 2007, 2009 and 2010 come to mind).

Besides, it'll take at least 15 more for Nederland to catch up to us in MCM, and Neumann has to retire some time. ;D
You can always hope :)
How old is Neumann, anyways? He's got to be in the mid to late 50s.
Don't know, but  if he's like Hooks, he might coach into his 70s.

Depends. Once you get past the 40 year mark in Texas public education, it's costing you money to stay on payroll because of the way the retirement system is structured. If he sticks around, it'll solely be for the love of the game.

Not really. The topic came up and I just wasn't sure how old he was. Like I said, if he sticks around, you know he really enjoys the job.

Not true.  They take your best three year average.  My mother has passed the 40 year mark and is still going strong.

Yes, and they give you 2.3% of that average for every year you work. But there comes a point where the retirement salary exceeds the active salary minus payroll taxes (it's either the 40 year mark or the 41). So in that sense, you actually take a pay raise by retiring, which conversely means you're losing money by not retiring after that point.

I hope Faircloth stays, I think Neumann will stay as long as he stays, just to show the kid how it's done.

I don't think Coach Neumann or Coach Faircloth coach for the money and if you are enjoying work why not keep working.
No, they didn't go into coaching for the money, just like teachers don't go into teaching for the money. But there does come a point where teachers start wondering if it's worth it to stick around, and a lot of the time pensions factor into that. I would imagine that's an even bigger decision for coaches; physically, that is the more demanding of the two jobs.

Neumann don't have time for that kind of math, he's got game plans to put together and film to watch.

I didn't say he was an idiot.  Plus, that really did him wrong didn't it.  Man the community kicked him to the curb for that one... seriously, the guy is a straight up winner, a straight shooter, and you don't stay in one place this long without being at the top of everything that makes a great AD.  Either way, when Neumann leaves, he's been grooming his replacement in my opinion, we won't skip a beat.

I never said Nederland mistreated him - y'all ponied up the money. But Neumann, in addition to being a winner, is a smart guy. I think he knows what his interests are, where they'll take him and when they'll take him there and none of us know when that's going to be. All I did was ask how old the guy is.

As for who replaces him, I have no idea. How old is that DC smitty hates so much? ;D

I think the emotions and competition of coaching keep you going. It's a way of life, but your right, there always come a point where you walk away, hopefully on your own terms.

Yeah that is his name

I would be surprised if they don't let Barrow take the helms for a year after Neumann leaves. And as for the La Marque thing, that was never a serious thing. It was used as leverage, and rightfully so. I think we can all agree he earned the pay raise. Anyways, I am not ready to say Neumann is done, I hope we get at least another ten years out of him...
