Need new blood at baseball position.  Someone that will coach football too!!!
heck no jasper better not ever have a baseball coach that also coaches football!!!!!!!!!!!!! we have a football coach and a baseball coach period..
Good grief, the discord has already begun!
No need for discord.  One of the best baseball coaches that Jasper ever had coached both baseball and football; and sent a few baseball players to the minor leagues, and at least two to the major leagues.  Also made two trips to the state tournament, and numerous trips to QF.  But since the current system seems to be working pretty well, no need to change that I see.
Jasper leaves a lot of good athletes on the baseball diamond these days that never buckle up the chin straps.  I would love to see more of our baseball boys represent the dogs at the Bone Yard.

This is a great hire for Jasper.  I know there will be plenty of excitement around town about Barbay coming to Jasper.

Alot of the times a football mentality makes your baseball teams compete and play harder.  It is more like having a united athletic program than having two separate ones.  I understand not every kid plays football and that is okay but from many first hand experiences football players bring another intangible.

I agree, Jasper is too small of a school for kids not to play more than one sport.
I agree I want my son to continue playing football so let me tell you a TRUE story..after morgan left coach mixon (baseball coach) continued going to the field house every morning early so the football players could work out. about 15 kids are now showing up and they were just sitting around talking..he asked them why they are not working out that they needed to get stronger faster ect..he asked who was a leader on the team one of our starting soph stood up and said he was the coach started telling him how he needed to lead and encourage everyone to work hard..this (superstar) began dropping F bombs and cussed him up and down including alot of racist comments (towards white's)..now first i give the coach alot of respect for not beating him down..second its this thug mentality that keeps alot of great white athlete's playing baseball year around and out of football..I understand its hard for a football coach to kick a great player off the team but as a father do you really want your son around this type of atmosphere..This has been a huge problem in the past and is the exact reason why alot of great baseball players did not play football..everyone sees the issue of having only 3or4 white kids on varsity when the population of the school is 60% white your playing with one hand tied behind your back..Morgan started making headway in this area and I'm sure Barbay will continue now that he is here..

Really?  I mean REALLY? I happen to be a "white" guy who played high school AND college ball and this is the most ridiculous comment I have heard in a while.  "WHITE BOYS" don't skip out of football because of the shallow-minded reasons listed in your retarded comment.  Good things our "white boys" don't cuss or disrespect their elders.  You poor backwards soul...I think you give us White Folk a bad name!

Jasper needs a good program.  Miss the days of Moye and others who made such a good team.  That Jasper vs. Gilmer game is still one of my all-time favorite games (Jasper should have won by the way, no thanks to refs).  Good luck from a BH Honky....... ;D ;D

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
