I guess Butler had a good run for a few years too? Oh no, wait, they are still very good. Same can be said about Boise St in FB. Nice run while it lasted. Oh wait, they are still good too. I'm all but certain the same was said about HJ when they started their run.

Until you have a bad season or a losing team,  then I think the run hasn't 'ended'.

I don't see Nederland being as good as last year given they lost all their starters. Central and Ozen will be too strong for the rest of the district this year. Nederland and Livingston will round it out but a couple of the other teams, LCM and my Pirates, may make a little noise. For once I have to say the basketball team is waiting on football to finish (believe that!!!) to get some of the starters back for the Pirates.

Any returning Pirates from lat year's Vidor team? I remember they
started out strong (14-0?) then didn't do much after Nederland squeaked by them in the 1st district game at Vidor. I believe LCM lost most of their players, but they looked good at times this summer. PNG lost a lot with Doty and their quick PG. Lumberton has a good player, but not sure if they have much after him.

Nederland? We all know they will be lucky to be a .500 team this year! I came to this reality finally on Saturday when i watch them scrimmage WOS and only beat them by 16 pts.  ;)

Two, but one of those is Montana Quirante. We had a good JV last year and got a little help through transfers in the offseason. Also, I am really happy about the promotion of Larry Sterling to head B-ball coach. Cut from the same mold as Brian English. Last year we had a good pre-district but we didn't play anybody. Once districted started the good teams beat us up pretty good. Zach Quinn was not a good coach and the kids really didn't like playing for him; I didn't like his style of ball and screaming at our kids for everyone to hear during games, well, not good. I thought he should have made the playoffs with the players he had. I believe Sterling will do a good job and get us back to respectability.
