Separation night in 20-4a

No excuses here, but before you run your mouth about Doty know both sides of the story. Doty got the last laugh that night by shoving it up the piehole of a childish adult who couldn't cut it in PNG.
And myhalfcent I could careless what you think of PNG, because I have my own opinions of Vidor that if I stated here I would get myself banned.

Seemed like you cared before. And as for your opinion on Vidor you can go ahead and keep it to yourself. Keep on hating. See you on Oct 28th.

The comment about the LCM mascot incident...The Indian Spirit is something we take serious around here, Unlike most schools it isnt some clown in a costume cutting up. There are countless hours that go into the tradition...I dont expect anyone outside of PN-G to understand that .. As far as your school song being cut short I'm sure that wasnt intentional.

That is exactly why this incident was so great...even though the Indian Spirit doesn't "cut up"...he is just another mascot in a costume.
The outrage was huge from Indian Nation.  I think PNG charged the LCM school district somewhere in the neighborhood of $1500 to clean the head dress.  I'd hate for taxes to be raised any higher in LCMISD, but I'd personally chip in some money to see it again Friday night!!  ;D ;D

The Spirit that year was my good friend Billy Morgan. The Bear "playfully" crossed the field and pushed him from behind and Billy pushed him back with principals seperating the two (the tape exists on this and many variations of the story have spread). The Indian Spirit is not like a goofy mascot that plays around etc. It's a representation of the Native Americans that were nice enough to pass down their traidtional dance to our school. The Bear had to come apologize to our school the next week.

There was also an incident in the late 80s when my sister was in high school.  Vidor played at PNG and fans threw things at the Vidor band's bus.

Personally, I find the Indian's dancing mocking Native Americans more than anything else.  The term "Indian" in and of itself is offensive.

And I sincerely hope LCM did not pay a dime to clean anything for PNG.  I certainly wouldn't.

And as far as not allowing us to play our school song not being intentional.  I am sure it was.  The band director looked like he honestly couldn't believe the slight.

And this entire discussion has proven my point.

Funny. Apparently the Chief of the Cherokee Nation and the Council of Elders disagree with you. After all, they did adopt us in 1980 because they were impressed by how we represented them.

LC-M had to pay to fix the costume. The LC-M mascot since then has been a girl. I say this as someone with a cousin that has served as the LC-M mascot and several family members who have attended LC-MCISD schools.

No i'm not doubting what you say is true i'm just laughing that you think your special you are "adopted" by "The Cherokee Nation and the Council of Elders". You do realize that they teach the same dance to every single tour that they give on there reservation. Sorry PNG but your not special. LMAO  8)

I never said that we are special for that reason (although I do think it's pretty neat considering that there are only two schools not located on actual reservations that bear that distinction). All I said is that the leadership of that particular tribe apparently disagrees with the poster I quoted.

Actions speak louder than words Bama kid. You may not say you are special but you sure as heck do act like it with the mascot thing. I mean honestly man come on. If i said that one of the pirates from the Med Sea came and taught our mascot how to speak pirate language and how to act like a pirate and that we take our mascot very seriously and we are very special cuz we got chosen by the pirates of the med. Now tell me if i said that you would not laugh at me?

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
