Yes he is annoying, but he is a great X and O guy who can turn the program into a winner, not in 5 years but in the first year. They need to offer at leat $200K for this position and get a proven winner that isn't over 60. I would be worth it because Lamar has proved in the past that if they win people will fill the Montagne Center and they could average over 7K which would more than pay for the Head Coach and coaching staff. I wonder how long it will take before there is a news conference and a decision whether Roc will stay or go, surely Lamar will not leave everyone hanging without an answer one way or the other. Lamar needs to say no to "has beens" and assistants that can "grow" into a head coach. Bring in a proven winner, even a head coach from a lower level who has shown time and again they can quickly turn a program around and win. He had nothing but disdain for Lamar and the Golden Triangle. And by the time he was through sending the Lamar program into the toilet the Lamar students (of which I was one) and the Golden Triangle was sick of him. He is not a good coach, he is not a good recruiter. He failed at Lamar, he failed at Drake.The only thing he ever accomplished in basketball was being lucky enough to be on a bench as Jim Valvano's assistant when Thurl Bailey threw down a rebound on a Derek Whittenberg airball in the last seconds of a national championship game in 1983. If he is the best that Lamar U. could come up with as far as a basketball coach to replace a hopefully soon to be gone Roc (who interestingly enough reminds me a lot of Abadremarco), then Lamar basketball needs to go by way of Lamar football in the 1990's and shut it down!
