It is indeed a big time job, Dice.  He replaces a coach in Sam Harrell that was very successful, highly revered, and has won state championships (2000, 2001, 2004) at Ennis.  

If Coach Alvarez does take the job, best of luck to him as he will have to hit the ground running.

I do not think Jasper thought he wasn't worthy.  I think they thought he would not fit at Jasper.  There is baggage there.  He will not carry that same baggage to Ennis.  I am very happy for him that he has landed this big prize.  I wish him the best, and expect the best.  He will perform.  I also agree with the deciders at Jasper that he probably was not best for Jasper.  That in no way should take away from what he should be able to do at Ennis.  Best of luck Coach Alvarez!!

That's funny.  Wow!  You sound like a company man.

Baggage?  There's a bag alright and it isn't Coach Alvarez.   It's Jasper's loss and that is no discredit to their current young coach.  It just reflects poorly on the Jasper brass or whoever pulls the strings.  Nobody turned down the job at Ennis either.  Alvarez was their FIRST CHOICE.  There was one guy at Jasper who it wouldn't "FIT" with and he wears a coat and tie guy.  Everything would have fitted just fine with Alvarez at Jasper.  All sports, not just football winning again!

harrell was also one of the innovators of the spread correct???

Oughta be interesting seeing what Ennis does offensively.

That is correct.  In fact, he was one of those who introduced the spread to the Southeast Texas area via the 2000 4A DII State Championship game (owww....that hurt).
