Silsbee went to the foul line tonight! Silsbee was 22/38 at the line, 57%. WOS was 9/18 for 50%. The taller Tigers drew plenty of fouls tonight as Thomas, Lane, and Jones drew plenty of fouls on the shorter Mustangs. Also Hill with his attacking the rim drew plenty himself.

Silsbee did not hit a three tonight, going 0-7. WOS hit only 2-14, 14%.

Silsbee out rebounded WOS 43-35 led by Thomas' 16 boards and Jones' 11.

Silsbee had 14 block shots led by Thomas and Jones with 7 and 4 respectively. WOS collected 9 block shots themselves.

Silsbee's inside game coupled with the pressure defense and WOS getting in foul trouble resulted in this 25 point win for the Tigers. WOS had no answer for Silsbee's Avory Thomas. He was dominant inside. Avory capped off his night with a thundering alley-oop slam from Hill, that put an exclamation mark on the Tiger win! His post partner Jones played well also, getting some crucial offensive rebounds and putbacks. Hill and Lane did their usual, attacking the basket and scoring off the breaks. D.C. Stallworth was a little rusty but looked good moving up and down the floor after being off a couple of weeks with the ankle injury. He wasn't really counted on offensively tonight, but did his part to help in the Tiger win.

WOS just couldn't compete inside and they turned the ball over on crucial possesions. Also, getting in foul trouble early spelled doom for the Stangs. I was impressed with Cotton and Noble in their ability to attack the basket and get some offensive rebounds. The Mustangs outside shooting wasn't very good, it wasn't their best shooting night, to say the least.

All in all a pretty dominant performance by Silsbee to kick start district play. It is always very tough to play at Mustang Gym and a 25 point win will go a long ways to increase the Tigers confidence thru the season.

    • What the writer stated wrt crossover votes in the primary/runoff: "Covey and his supporters Paxton and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Phelan only won because Democrats crossed over to vote in the Republican Primary for him. Paxton said Covey’s campaign identified “at least” 1,442 Democrats who voted early in Jefferson County in the primary runoff. Texas does not have party registration, but a voter’s primary voting history is public. The Covey campaign has not released its methodology behind its claim, but  This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up  by The Texan news website found that 9% of Republican voters in the March District 21 primary had voted in one of the previous four Democratic primaries. However, only 5% of that group had voted in all four previous Democratic primaries. What Phelan’s opponents did not mention is historically Democratic Jefferson County is undergoing a political transition towards the Republican party — the county judge switched his affiliation to the GOP in 2017 — so many residents have a mixed primary voting history. And Phelan’s allies in the House dismissed the idea that liberals swung the election. "I knocked on doors, hundreds and hundreds of doors, made calls for Dade,” Republican Rep.
