Of the players I know I  would have to add Prudhomme-HJ, Prentice Lane-Silsbee, Gustafson-HJb and not sure of their names but I believe it is Whitaker from Spurger and their pt guard. May even add Kelton Gaines from Silsbee. I know there are some from other schools such as Nederland just not familar with them.
Spurger's George Whittaker & the pt. guard Chase McGallion
Let them keep talking, the weak district talk should have ended right after the first playoff win.JMOP keep on rolling rebs ;D ;D

 4. MrUmp1 i have another one. The trips to the mound, Is it so many trips per inning, per game or per pitcher before you have to pull the the kid that is pitching. Example---The coach made 2 trips with the first pitcher 3 with the second, and made one trip out with the third pitcher. The third pitcher was in his third inning of pitching before the coach made his visit to him. The field ump made him remove the pitcher. (?)

Poor chemistry for a team with as much talent and potential as these guys. Very disappointing second half of the season. And dont fire Rick Barnes. That would be terrible for the program. Get the kids ready to compete next year.
No chemistry, and Young. Give a year are so and then make the call on the coach.
 6.

I got a few thoughts on this topic.  First of all, i think just because you make it to Austin in the final 4, doesnt guarantee you a spot in the top 4 or 5 on the final poll.  Some teams come out of weak regions where they may not make out 2 rounds in another region.  Leggett in 1A-II region 4 is a great example.  They made it to the state tournament and lost to Kennard in the regular season.  Kennard was the THIRD PLACE team 24-1A-II, which is region 3 though.  I promise Leggett couldnt make it 2 rounds in region 3, and they have no business being in the top 10 or maybe 15 in the TABC poll, but finished 4th for making it to state (Laneville at #6 beat them by 8 pts on a neutral court).  Now in Spurgers case, they beat the #2 team in state at the time to get to state, so i agree they should be higher.  In the teams ranked ahead of them, i saw Cayuga, Bronte, Gruver, Tenaha, and Martins Mill play at least once.  I think Spurger shouldve been possibly ranked ahead of Gruver or Tenaha, but not Bronte or Martins Mill.  Bronte for obvious reasons, and Martins Mill gave Cayuga a heck of a game in the regional finals, it was within 10 points until some point in the 4th quarter.  I think Martins Mill wouldve done pretty well at state also.  I cant speak for those other 3 teams, but they better have made the regional finals at least.  I probably wouldve put Spurger at least in the top 6 or 7 though.  I agree about the TABC poll being a joke in some cases.  They rank teams that i know have no business being in there and leave teams out that are more than deserving.
I  can agree with that.
Well I must look at wrong then. You play and beat who they put infront of you,you earn your way to the state semi's.You cant help the fact that some of the so call better teams are in a different region, they didnt make to the semi's.Spurger was one of the last 4 teams standing and should have been awarded so. If we want to go to "would have & could have's" I think you would have seen a different team all together If it was not played at UT. Im not saying Spurger would have beat Yuga so lets dont get any of that started.Yuga is a beast and is the state champions. But the last time Spurger shot below 30% from the feild they where beaten by kirbyville by 1.A few of the guys was alittle wide eyed from the whole process. That been said, IFs ANDs COULD WOULD, none of that makes a dam. Cayuga #1, Bronte #2, and Spurger and Gruver earned 3rd and 4th spot.
 7.
When the umpire is in the inside of the diamond and is hit, the ball is dead and each runner or batter runner is awarded one base.  I know sometimes the kids get a little mad at me because they want me to move to much from where i should be to help their vision but if I move to much sometimes you are putting yourself in an area where you are more likely to get hit.
Sounds like the umps got it right then. Since the runner on 2nd was on the move and pretty much had 3rd when the ump was hit, does not make a difference. He would still get only 3rd??or should he have got to go home as the awarded base?
 8.
I know many of you would expect me to comment on the Tigers ranking but that is not what I made this topic about.  I made this because I feel the poll really did an injustice to Spurger.  I know the argument would be that they got beat badly by Cayuga and some of the other teams ranked above them didn't. However,  the Pirates made it to Austin so they were one of the final four teams. They lost to the team that won state.  In my book they deserve to be ranked higher than ninth.  I would have to put them in the top 4 because they earned their spot in Austin and beat the number  2 team in the state.  Congratulations Pirates on a great year and congratulations to all our ranked area teams!!  Good luck next year!!
I agree i think Spurger should have been higher just for the fact That the pirates was in the final four. I also think that alot of the things TABC puts out is a joke,So doesnt make much difference here ;) Thanks ST413
 9. You have a runner on 2nd,batter hits the ball and the man on 2nd was stealing. Ball hits the field ump on the shoe ball goes out to right field. Is the ump part of the field or dead ball? Call was made batter gets first, runner who was almost to 3rd from stealing scored, was made to go back to 3rd.

 11. With their first practice monday and a game at BS today Spurger is no where near ready to be playing district games.I just hope they can keep it in single digits. ;D On the bright side Mcgallion did pitch 2 scoreless inns today. And then was pulled being it was the first game.

 16.
COURT SIDE.................I know that you are the father of one of the players.....so....I hope you will pass along to your team what I am about to say.... I don't believe I have ever been more proud of a community than I have of SPURGER,TEXAS....Your fans and your kids conducted themselves in a manner   that any southeast Texan would be proud of....The kids played their hearts out, and the SPURGER faithful cheered their hearts out. I have no idea whether or not they will make it back next year....but this year they were the classiest act in AUSTIN!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you and I will pass it along. RP3 get out and come to our little town and meet these boys, their coach, and their fans. Then you will get a ideal of what some of the posters are talking about.Untill then dont bother saying there is not nothing special here ;)
 17.
Spurger loses to much in Blankenship (sp) and wont return. Yes I realize Whittaker is a force, but he no good if they dont have anyone to throw it to him. Silsbee has a shot, as always.
Dont have anyone to throw it to him :o :o Mcgallion with over 200 asts Dont think that will be one of their problems. ;) Blankenship,Rawls,Odom in that order, all around the same in asts. Some where around 40 or 50,I will have to go back and look to be sure on the # but it is close
 18.

laseagle: You are COMPLETELY out of line for your comments about the Silsbee coaching staff...Were you not jumping up and down and high fiving and bragging when they defeated Hardin Jefferson in the regional tournament in Huntsville, just one week ago? I mean, you DID say you were a huge fan, right? Dont be a fair weather one...If you are a fan, be a fan, NOT a dang coaching critic, because obviously thats not your day job because if it were they would all be fired and you would go out and get Billy Gillespie to coach the basketball team and go lure Todd Dodge for football!! How dare you criticize the players and coaches that go out there night after night to represent gutless people like yourself who just kick them when they are down talking about what they should have done!! Go to the Silsbee players and coaches on Monday and tell them that to their faces, at least after you are stomped in the ground I could respect you more! That is very cowardly of you to talk about the job that these men do to represent YOU in the 3A FINAL FOUR in Austin...How dare you! Some "fan" you are....
That is one statement I definitely agree with.
ME TOO, laseagle needs to either get ON or get OFF the wagon ::) ::)
 19.
It is extremely tough to get to Austin and even harder to return. Both clubs return quality players but both have huge holes to fill.Spurger will have a tough time replacing the scoring of Blanlenship but have a couple of quality players to build around and a young coach they believe in so don't bet against them.In Silsbee DC Stallworth will be in the running for POY so they will be right at the top of the regional heap.
I agree, its a big task getting back to Austin. I think both teams have a good shot at returning. Spurger will miss the two seniors but IMOP it will be more on the def-end then the scoring.I know it sounds crazy but look at the games the two didnt play in this year.As a team PPG was around the same and maybe a tad bit higher. The kids really step it up while they were out. Now the two seniors where IMOP the best deffensive guys on the team. Fill that roll and Spurger will be fine. Silsbee having DC and Lane to build a team around And add Gaines, alot of teams would like to have that problem ;)
 20.
As the Silsbee Tigers arrived at the Erwin Center we were welcomed by a sea of MAROON!  But the maroon these people were wearing was not Silsbee Maroon.  It was Spurger Maroon!  The Spurger fans were waiting to congratulate and console their team and yet took the time to cheer on the Tigers as well. The people of Spurger gave us a warm welcome as we got off our bus.  Clapping hands, cheers of "Go get 'em Tigers", and "Bring it home to Southeast Texas" greeted us as we entered the Drum. Thank you Spurger for showing your support for our team!  We could not make it to your game, but we were receiving updates throughout and were pulling for you all the way! Inside the building we were able to greet your boys and coaches who also wished us well.   Thank you Spurger for showing such class and sportsmanship!  I was overwhelmed by the greeting and the show of support! All of Southeast Texas should be proud!
That couldn't have been any better, even if it was planned. We just hope the boys and coaches from silsbee know how proud of them we are.It was great to be their and have a team from right up the highway be there also.
 21. Congrats Tigers on a great season Im with the ones that say this was the championship game. Clearly IMOP the best two in the tourney
