Kirbyville & Newton left!

Recommended Posts

Southeast Texas has Kirbyville & Newton left in the playoffs. Kirbyville has already overachieved (they were the underdog) with the win against Arp and now it is Newton's turn against Daingerfield. Rankings do not guarantee wins. There are always unexpected results in the march to the state title. There has to be plenty of red and black along with purple and white in the golden triangle. Come show your colors at this week's games. Get behind these two programs the rest of the way and enjoy the remainder of the '09 season in high school football! There are four teams left in D1 and eight teams left in D2. That's twelve teams total in 2A and 2 of those are from District 22. Not bad. Go Wildcats and go Eagles!

ChampionEagles, I couldn't agree with you more..Two excellent programs only a few miles apart, both teams deep in the play-offs reprensenting SE Texas in The State 2A football play-offs..Think What it would mean for these Two Teams to bring back Both STATE trophies to small SE Texas towns but; they both need your help and most of all your support...It could be done..!!!

Shouldn't matter if your school has red and black or purple and white, wear your colors and still support Kville and Newton. I remember the 1977 4A championship game, PNG and Plano, Texas Stadium, all time attendance record ... lots of Nederland Black and Gold, TJ Marroon and Gold, and other school colors in the stands ... all supporting PNG in that game ... and signs ... so and so (town or school) backs the indians, etc... every person that has the opportunity to attend at least one of these games should ... go ahead and wear your colors whatever they are and support Kirbyville and Newton as they do SETX proud. ...

The day of the Kirbyville Newton Game they started parking cars at 10am (not a joke) and there were over 5000 tickets sold. Not a bad fan base for two little Texas towns. Both of these teams have fans that bleed school colors. Good luck Newton. Should someone organize a East Texas Bowl for New Years Day?

You got my vote too, but it would have to be a very big venue.  Good idea though, I'm in.

didnt they aready play a few weeks ago?

You're right..they did play and God knows we couldn't take another week of high school football...that would be terrible wouldn't it?...NOT..ha...Good luck to both teams. Both have come a long way and both still have hurdles to overcome (I think Newton's is a tad harder) but it would be great to see two trophies make the long ride back to SE Texas. Go Kats and Go Eagles!!!

By the way..I saw the following video this week of an Eagle taking down an animal it SHOULDN'T be able to take down...Thought I'd post it for all of those who think Tigers are too much for a little ole' Eagle to handle. Check it out! Pretty Interesting.

    • We'll see. I don't trust us.
    • Starting pitching has been shaky the last few weeks due to some injuries outside of Hagen Smith.  He goes tomorrow, so y’all should be fine
    • Manchin may get it but any mention of the radical left that wanted to get rid of the filibuster and end almost 220 years of history because the Democrats are mad?  The House and Senate are obviously different legislative bodies with entirely different election processes and rules for a reason. The House can vote on laws with a simple majority vote. The Senate put rules in place that it would make it much tougher to pass laws. Laws should be difficult to pass. The Senate is often the holdup of the right and left. It takes 60 votes to break the filibuster so any law will almost certainly require agreement at least in part, from opposing sides of an issue. Because they can’t get laws passed, the radical left is like a baby having a tantrum and wants to change over 200 years of history and make it potentially ridiculously easy to pass laws. I have seen current poll maps and it is possible for the Republicans to sweep into complete power in November but by the tiniest margin. That would possibly mean that a single vote margin in both houses could enact what you might call the radical right laws. There would be nothing that the Democrats could do to stop any legislation whatsoever if the left (they are all radical, minus Manchin) got their filibuster rule changed.  That is where the current filibuster comes into play as any new law would require several Democrats to agree with the majority Republicans and vice versa.  Do you want the potential for your radical right to have free rein as the radical left wants by killing the filibuster or is the radical left just as (if not more) dangerous? Let’s see if we have a history in this area? Oh yeah, the Democrats changed the rules in the Senate to allow federal judges to not have to overcome the filibuster. Obama was not getting his federal judge nominations passed and being angry, they changed the rules instead of nominating more moderate justices. They were warned that it would come back to bite them. They didn’t care and chose the nuclear option to change the rules. Oops! Any guess how Trump got all of his Supreme Court nominees passed against strong Democrat opposition? The Democrats got rid of the filibuster for federal judges after another tantrum   So when you are so worried about the radical right, are you equally concerned in what the radical left is always doing by changing rules and history which were put into place just for situations like we are in? So while Manchin gets it, what about his other 50 colleagues (49 + Harris)?  What concerns you more, Abbott and Paxton or the Democrats who want to make it to where if the Republicans do take over, they can go wild… at least in your mind?
    • MODS please remove that ISD twitter link! I had no idea it would copy the whole posting. I only highlighted the portion about the venue change. Sorry about that!
