Guest baseball25 Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 I like what UFC is doing here with carwin vs lesnar, and with Velasquez vs Rothwell, I like to do Velasquez faceĀ a guy like Rothwell, what do you think VENOM..Do you like this. FanHouse has learned that Velasquez (6-0) has agreed to face UFC newcomer Ben Rothwell (30-6) on October 24 in Los Angeles. Velasquez was originally supposed to fight Shane Carwin at UFC 104, but as FanHouse reported earlier, Carwin will now be challenging Brock Lesnar for the heavyweight title at UFC 106 on November 21. Rothwell was once supposed to be facing Chase Gormley at UFC 104. That bout was originally scheduled for ill-fated Affliction Trilogy event on August 1. No word on who Gormley will be fighting next. Prior to losing to Andrei Arlovski at Affliction: Banned in July 2008, Rothwell had won his last 13 fights in a row. The former International Fight League veteran holds notable victories over Krystof Soszynski (twice), Ricco Rodriguez and Roy Nelson. He last defeated Chris Guillen at Adrenaline MMA 2 in December. Velasquez is 4-0 inside the Octagon. He most recently defeated Cheick Kongo via unanimous decision at UFC 99 in June. UFC.com has yet to officially announce any of the bouts on the card.
