Went to the game last night as a neutral fan just wanting to see the best matchup I could find. I was quickly turned-off by the arrogance of the Friendswood fans sitting around me. Good ballgame, several bang-bang plays, two very good teams. Gotta hope that Ned pulls it out. Would love to see Ned vs Brenham next week.

How bout that freindswud fan with the "3rd class" sign .....got a good look at him on Channel six.....he wasn't a student ...he was a grown man.....how sad.........As Ron Burgundy would say "Stay Classy Nederland"   Great Crowd last night... we had at least twice as many fans, maybe three times......let's fill the seats again tonight.......Go Dogs!

Friendswood's cockiness came back to bite them in this game.  Nederland looked dead at the plate the first 3 innings, taking a lot of strikes and not being very aggressive with the bats.  Then the Fitzpatrick kid hit the HR and blew kisses to the Nederland stands as he rounded the bases.  That was the spark the Dogs needed to get them going.  Nederland looked like a different team in the 4th and scored 2 runs to tie the game.  The next inning Trevin Sonnier comes up, and fouls one off of his foot and goes down in the box.  While he was down, the Friendswood fans were laughing and making inappropriate comments.  After dusting himself off, he drove the next pitch he saw to the right centerfield wall for a go ahead RBI double.  The moral of the story is: Don't make the Dogs mad,  they'll come out and bite ya!

Friendswood offense goes quiet in Game 1

Friendswood tried to mount a rally in the bottom of the seventh and appeared to have something going after Kevin Thornton recorded the second straight Mustang hit. However, Allday was called out at third base on Thornton’s double for the first out of the inning, even though he appeared to reach before the throw.

The ruling ended up costing Friendswood a run, when Jordan Johnson hit a single to center field to score Thornton.

“This is why you play three,†Friendswood senior catcher Austin Fitzpatrick told his team after the game.

“The pitcher they are throwing tomorrow throws a little harder, but he also throws it a lot straighter,†Taylor said. “We are capable of hitting that as long as we stay relaxed at the plate.â€
