Tom Halliburton isn't that impressed with the job Gilligan has been doing lately:

As much as your Bubba respects and admires Jim Gilligan, it just doesn't seem as if Lamar's baseball program appears to be heading in a successful direction. The game has become so much more offensive-minded at the college level. Lamar has to be able to recruit and attract better players in order to be of NCAA tournament caliber any more, much less College World Series caliber. When Sam Houston State brought over Mark Johnson from Aggieland with the Bearkats' new Don Sanders Stadium, Lamar took quite a hit. Can the Cardinals make some major strides to offset Sam Houston's upgrades? It's quite doubtful.
