Top Games for Friday, 4/18

1.  #12 Longview Spring Hill (7-1, 19-3) @

      #18 Gilmer (7-1, 18-6)

15-3A.  Winner takes sole possession of 1st place with one more game to go.  Spring Hill won the first matchup, 2-1.

2.  #6  Lufkin Hudson (12-0, 18-6)

    #12 Carthage (11-1, 17-5)

20-3A.  A Hudson win and they take the #1 seed.  A Carthage win would likely force a playoff for the #1 seed.  Hudson took the first game, 2-1

3.        Silsbee (8-4, 15-9) @

      #5 Jasper (8-4, 19-6)

21-3A.  These teams are tied for third in this loaded district.  Not sure of all the scenarios but the winner of this game would be sitting pretty in the playoff picture.  Jasper pounded Silsbee 15-0 in the first go around.  Expect a close game for this one.

4.  #2  Sinton (7-0, 20-5) @

            Mathis (6-1, 17-5)

30-3A.  If Sinton wins, they clinch the #1 seed.  If Mathis wins, the two will be tied and could be looking at a seeding game.  Sinton took the first one, 7-1.

5.        Eustace (5-4, 16-9) @

            Ferris (5-4)

13-3A,  Eustace, Ferris, Kemp, and Kaufman all are tied for first at 5-4 in this wacky race that ends this Friday.  The winner of Eustace/Ferris game is in.  The loser hopes for help from other teams.  Eustace beat Ferris the first time they played, 4-3.

6.      Falfurrias ( 5-0, 13-9-1) @

          Zapata (5-1)

31-3A.  Falfurrias can seal up the #1 seed with a victory.  A Zapata win will likely force a seeding playoff.  Falfurrias is undefeated in district play and won the first matchup in a close one, 7-6.

7.      Princeton (8-4, 13-6) @

          Prosper ( 9-3, 18-5)

9-3A.  Prosper is tied for first with Wakeland and a win keeps them in the race for the #1 seed.  Princeton sits alone in 3rd with Celina one game back.  A win almost secures their playoff spot.  Prosper shut out Princeton earlier, 6-0.

8.      Presidio (4-3) @

          Pecos (4-3, 17-7-1)

2-3A.  Presidio, Pecos, and Monahans are all tied for 1st with a 4-3 district record.  The victor of this game secures a playoff spot and the opportunity to secure the #1 seed next week.  Pecos won the two previous meetings, 10-3 and 11-8.

That Hudson-Carthage game will probably be a classic battle. And next year Jasper will get in the middle of it.
