new tournament

The college basketball invitational....anybody know anything about it? this is the inaugural year for this tournament and it is a 16 team tourny for teams not in the NCAA or NIT tournys

Yep, that is pretty much it. First year and they will have a 16 team format. The neat idea about this tournament in the finals it is a best of three series.

yea and once it gets to the final 4 the teams will be re seeded

I am surprised that this tournament has caught people off-guard. They've been talking about it off and on for much of the year. Guess some fans just don't really pay attention to this kind of thing until March.

The tournament is run by one of those promotional groups (the Gazelle Group) that puts together quite a few tournaments. Asking around, not too many people think they are that organized of a bunch (which may have appeared pretty obvious when the bracket was announced pretty late last night).

We'll see how this tournament goes. They have a decent TV package (Fox College Sports) for their first year. A mixed bag of a field...
