Think of it like this, and I’m not saying they are a great football team, but they are amazingly and strangely close to being 9-1 right now if they could finish games…you are what your record says you are, but no one has beat the brakes off of them yet

Finally got their head out of ??? And got the win. There are no words to eat. They had a 28-20 lead and gave up a 90 yd drive and then got the lead 35-28 and almost gave up an 89 yd drive. They got very fortunate that Dayton had a bunch of penalties. They are not anywhere a good football team. The good news is they will wind up 6-5. Huntsville will beat them like Texas High did their last playoff appearance Fortunately they are in a horrible district or they would be sitting at home next week

Maybe Nederland plays like they did vs. Crawford and gets a road win @ Huntsville?  These are 14-18 year old kids.  Focus on what they did well. Down 20-7 and they keep competing for a road win. Find the positive. #10, #8, the defense getting a stop of 4th down to seal the win.  This team could give you a bucket of gold and you would complain about the bucket.

We were down 20-0 at one point we truly looked uninspired out there but we didn't quit and came back and won it...onto Huntsville next week

There was absolutely no effort in the 1st half and Dayton’s last 2 drives showed a lot of loser mentality The defense was looking for a way to blow it. Thank goodness the OL started blocking and the Bulldogs did a good job of getting just a few penalties

Dayton scored 20 points in like their first 5 plays before Nederland realized there was a game…Nederland from there outscored Dayton 35-8…that’s what I mean when I reference “shouldn’t have been that close”…Nederland was the better team IMO…they just didn’t play 4 full quarters…both have a lot of room for improvement

The reason I said loser’s mentality - West Brook lead late in game - choked, PNG lead late in game - choked, Texas City lead late in game - choked, Dayton lead late in game - tried to choke. In everyone of those games they were looking for a way to lose. I would call that a loser’s mentality why - last year 3-7 and most of same players back. I think their minds revert to last season. On the bright side they won 3 more games this season and will have a 6-5 winning record thanks to BL, GP, and SF

You call it “losers mentality”, I call it “learning to finish”…i just don’t think these kids are losers by any stretch…I think they are developing and learning…step in the right direction last night

I wasn't going to comment but after reading some of these before and after game comment s I'm going to weigh in.        Big Ned won the game and good luck going forward.  You don't hear anyone from  Dayton crying or complaining about the game. I think Ned is ranked 23rd and Dayton 60ish in the State and all of the Big boys had Ned pre-picked with a relative easy win.   ( only one fan in the pickems choose Dayton- one)  So to get on here  and say Ned was flat ,uninspired and let Dayton get a 20 point lead in the first quarter is a little disingenuous not  to give Dayton their accolades. The real reason for the anomaly - you got  punched in the face and underestimated  a team that was  alot better than you thought. Let's be honest saying things like we finally finished a game - ?when Dayton had 50 yards of penalties ( and this was all on Dayton being stupid) in their last two drives-odds on Dayton probably would of won.                 After being in the cellar for years Dayton is climbing out and getting more formidable every  season so don't sleep on us.
