Looks like other than Port Arthur Memorial and a few of their district opponents I'll be watching some 3A basketball this upcoming season.

First time in a very long time that a coverage area 4A team is not in the 4A preseason rankings.

I thought Hardin-Jefferson was worthy of top 25.

I saw something on Twitter few days ago from GASO I believe and I was surprised no 4A team was in theirs as well. They also didn't have Beaumont United in the 5A rankings.

Westwood lost the Bryant kid but may be ranked too low. Probably still a top four team.

The little brother is the better basketball player to me. Think he was a freshman last season, I forget his first name.

Hardin Jefferson is absolutely a top 25 team. The TABC process highly rewards last years results, because HJ lost in the first round they aren't on here, doesn't factor enough who they bring back and how quality their opponent they lost to was. HJ is going to be really really good this year.

Kaden Bryant. His potential is off the charts if he keeps developing.

I mistakenly put Westwood in our teams in the rankings. Westwood is not one of our coverage area basketball teams. 

They are in football but not basketball.

I removed them from the post.

I agree HJ should be ranked, shocked they aren't but they will get added quickly I am sure. The main issue is they have to rely on last year if coaches do not submit their votes for top teams in their regions. It is crazy how few coaches voice their opinions to vote on this stuff for the preseason. 

Huntington, and Trinity are ranked too low. Surprised EC that low as well considering what they return as Dillard is really good. Diboll has a ton of Sophs that are talented and make them good as well. That district is maybe the toughest depth wise in 3A as PCA, Heights, Central, Huntington, and Diboll are all legit which means a really good team will miss the playoffs.

Also keep an eye on Warren, they return a lot and I think take a big step forward.

I got my eye on them. I got them making playoffs.

Going to make their tournament. Some good teams in it.

I think Huntington opens up with Warren.  Should be a good one.

I also think Orangefield is a bit high.

Orangefield had a big and a really good guard last year. The guard was a senior?

Yes. Their two best players (Scales and Willis) were seniors. 34 (Willis 21, Scales 13) of their 59 points scored in state title game gone.

I think OF is a top 12 team. Just not a top 6.

I've been asked by some of our local coaches plus some fans to bring back the SETXsports basketball rankings.

I'm thinking seriously about it.

But just remember these rankings (if I choose to do them) will include all our coverage teams (86 in total) and not just the local core teams.

If I decide to do them, I won't put them out until 1st of December.
