Regis was pretty athletic. They were throwing endzone fade balls to him and he won most of them

True. He was good. Still is. Just found a better fit for himself. Very proud of him.

I'm gonna leave my personal weekly district rankings the same because everyone won their games.

  1. PAM
  2. GCM
  3. RSS
  4. LP

PAM only led 13-7 with 73 total yards in the first half against a tough Lufkin D. But, they took control in the 2nd half to pull away. GCM was also in a tight battle with BWB. But, pulled out the win at home. Can't get much closer than RSS & NC. If I remember correctly, RSS had to score near the end of the game to win on the road. But, they did. LP had a tight first half on the island, and only led 21-19. But, they made adjustments and turned it on in the second half to cruise. Defense still needs work. OL appears to be coming together better.

Some tight games. I expect we'll be in for a lot of these, and I still think tiebreaks will come into play at the end. I don't have any idea what the tiebreak rules are this year in the district. But, I hope Berneathy is keeping them in mind just in case.

Fun looking back at some of the posts towards the beginning of this thread 😂

Mine are still holding. My thoughts about the LP D and OL are still dead on, as are my thoughts about Lufkin and PAM D's. I also think I was the only one voicing my thoughts that GCM would be a PO team, and neither Beaumont team would make it to the PO's. Still early though, and I still think tie breaks will be involved. I wish I knew what the tie break rules were for this year.

Good morning my people, beautiful Saturday morning I like to call Victory Saturday for those that win 😎

I was happier with the LP D. GCM scored on a TD return on a fumbled snap on the Dawg’s first play from scrimmage when Simon was out & a Soph mishandled the snap, and then the D gave up 2 more scores in garbage time. Other than that, the D only gave up 14 points to a senior heavy GCM squad with a pretty good QB, and some speedy receivers. You never know what to expect when a Hurts is the OC. So, I could see improvement—which is a plus.

As far as the O, with an all backup OL, they took control of the trenches and played really well. There were very few negative plays.

I think the district is lining up about how I expected to this point with PAM and the 2 LP’s in line for PO spots right now. I still think GCM may be in line for the 4 spot. Especially if RSS QB is out for any length of time.

But, still a lot of games to play. LP will need to come to play against BWB. They’ll have had an extra week to prepare.

I think Weak Brooke has mailed it in 😁

My personal weekly rankings after Week 4:

  1. PAM
  2. LP
  3. Lufkin
  4. GCM

PAM keeps rolling. They are pretty much what they are at this point. Defense and a strong run game. LP O is starting to gel. I don’t know of too many other 5A teams (or 6A for that matter) that can have an OL using all backups and still churn out 50+ ppg regardless of competition. The D is improving. But, still not to historical LP standards yet. Depth and offensive balance is a team strength. Lufkin’s D is still their strength, and the O is improving each game. GCM is still—IMHO—the best shot for the final PO spot at this time. They can be very explosive, and have a very experienced squad full of seniors who should be able to bounce back after a loss. But, New Caney may get a boost from their big OT win, and fuel them for success. It will be interesting to see how they progress after their emotional win.

It’s still very early in district play, and much can change week-to-week with the teams being so closely matched. But, the top 3 seem to be separating themselves a little from the rest of the pack at this point.

Curious what others think. What are y’all’s Weekly Snapshot Rankings?
