Mballer1 Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago Not really a whole lot of talk about Silsbee’ Basketball I know they are Struggling and it’s a down year with getting acclimated with the new head coach I thought some of the young men that came back from last year’s team would have been a little better did Silsbee stop the run and gun offense and the pressure defense that we are all accustomed to I wass under the impression that the offense would not change and they would work on improving the defense a little more just curious at 1-9 I still feel like they will be battle tested and ready for district with their non district schedule and get better just curious on what’s going on. Tigers94 Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago Put it to you this way: There's a lot of really good athletes on this Silsbee team. How many are good basketball players is a different story. Hopefully these good athletes can be molded into decent b-ball players by the time district starts. It's still really early and we just don't have the kids we've had over the past decade or so right now. As much as people don't want to hear this, it's going to take a few years to see if things work out. The community needs to be patient. Help will be on the way, but those kids who'll be freshmen next season will need a year's worth of experience and physical growth under their belt before they're really ready. That means it'll likely be 2027 before we see if Silsbee can get back to where they're used to being. I guess if you want some signs of a bright spot so far this year, they competed well with Humble (who somehow only lost to West Brook by 2 points) and Stafford, while not nearly as good as last year, still came in as a ranked team. They just need to start winning some of these close games. Quote
