Im glad BU won, but Westbrook was down a player that they gone count on this year. #23 6,6" transfer didnt play tonight, for reasons i dont know. But he was playing earlier this year. From what I seen in previous games before YMBL the kid can shoot the three and handles not to bad. Also his IQ is not bad neither, but he was no suited out tonight, just on bench. Just FYI...

It definitely  balances out because in this tournament, WB had the luxury of playing only 5 games while BU and many other teams played 6 games.  BU had more tired legs…. WB was down a player.  Sounds like an even cancellation of disadvantages…

Yes that’s who I’m referring to & it’s still a pointless tourney to play in. Literally set up for them to play each other rest of the tourney is terrible competition. Pointless imo

Ok.  😕😑

This isn’t a bad tourney to be in for two state championship caliber programs? What competitive teams are in this tourney besides the two obvious?

Go look at the tournaments other state championship caliber programs participate in and tell me if they resemble the YMBL?

Name me some tourneys that were played this week that you think WB and BU should have played instead of hosting a tourney?

Maybe what you should be saying is YMBL/BISD should get better teams to play in the tourney outside of Cy Springs and Angleton.

Simply put, you can't have a YMBL/BISD tourney without the BISD teams participating.

Congrats to United ,Peyton and his teammates 2 a hell of a game, also Manuel shooting was huge for them cant overlook that.  Great turnout for the city without any extra foolishness. They have 2 more games and possibly a 3rd . I expect it to be good games every time!!!!

My point was he didn't play and no one mentioned that, so us BU fans cant get too excited because he will probably be back for our district match ups. But thanks for the update on the injury....

You keep bringing up this week as if this is the only these teams can play in a tourney we all know the real smoke is up 45 North, plenty of competitive tourneys up that way.

There is a reason good teams don’t come to the YMBL no more…

To your last statement is there a rule saying BISD teams have to participate in the tourney they host? Honestly curious

Dude, no one is avoiding smoke.  Just like AAW told you, BU and WB already are scheduled for some good tournaments.  WB Cypress tourney and BU Dallas ISD tourney.

If you are going to host, you want the host teams to play. It's their facilities being used and it sells tickets. That's just good busines.

As for other tourneys, you only get to play three tournaments in a season. Have to have them played by the end of December since all the districts will be into district play by January. So you really only have this week (Dec. 4-6) next week (Dec. 11-13) and then the Christmas time to play your tourneys.

So in their case, they have to not host a tourney (YMBL/BISD) which is a money maker for the district, and go play elsewhere in order to play better teams for just that one week.

I looked at tourneys for this week and really the only one that stood out for competition was the Mansfield ISD tourney. It had several good teams in it. Also Conroe Grand Oaks was good. But it's just one week.

Like I stated earlier, United will be playing in LaGrange La. tourney this coming week and then play in Dallas ISD tourney during Christmas break. West Brook is playing in a tough Cypress Hoops tourney this week and then play in Conroe ISD tourney at Christmas, I think both teams will get their fair share of competition in those tourneys.

Therefore them hosting a tourney for this past week is not that big a deal on the competition level. (even though Cy Springs and Angleton took each team to the brink of losing). It's more important to keep that tourney going for all involved.

I know about why some teams don't come to YMBL but that's old news. Things have changed from a few years ago on how it's run.

I do agree that the tourney could be better on the competition side of things. Also hate that Lamar no longer hosts the tourney but I am glad they decided to not have a girls tourney at the same time. Allowed to get more boys teams in.

Ok this makes a lot more sense…but this tourney has went down hill since I was in school.
