You think we would miss these people?  I say it's morally wrong to continue having these people employed.  You should also feel the same way.  Think about it, how much more in the government is this going on?!

We just added another 20 billion to bail out the same country while we are firing our citizens and shuttering our doors.  How does this benefit the U.S. at this time?

So we just pay 10 people to do the job one person could do?

Private companies can't do that.....

In my job, I better be successful to they will find someone who will be.

Cutting out the fat in the Government is never a bad thing......we finally have a President that understands how a business works.......and while the Government will never be able to run like a business, it is possible to improve how far our tax dollars go

You need to ask the one responsible for the shutdown: Chucky Schumer and the Democrats!  It's my understanding that during a shutdown the President has the right to do what he's doing.  I say we need to do more.  Let these people go to work in the private sector and live under the rules and laws they help create!

Any of yall poll? All the polls I've seen show blame for the shutdown is on republicans...! Control congress, yet its the other sides fault lol

It's Schumer's (Democrat) fault.  No debate there.  He's trying to suck up to the woke faction because he doesn't want to get primaried by AOC.

How does a $40 billion dollar bail out benefit the U.S.?  Does it help US farmers? Is it bringing prices down?

Sometimes you have to think long term.  I'd have to see the details.  If you know the details fill us in so we can learn.  I'm not opposed to learning.

Your President is going at it alone.  No details.  Go figure.  His family may hold the keys.

We have bi-partisan support on the yes vote in the senate.   I believe 3 Democrats have came over.....

So Republicans and 3 Democrats vote yes to open the Government, the rest of the Democrats vote NO

It takes 60 votes in the house......

Did you even read your own article. It says funding will be pulled if the conservative government moves left. Hey, he could pull it and give it to Ukraine. No one would say anything then. Does that help America?

It’s where your USAID packages were sending money. I can see where your mind sits.

Air traffic controllers in this country aren’t all federal employees. There’s also a good case to be made that ATC’s should be employed by private, non-profit firms that are compensated by the airlines, airport systems, and other users of their services.

The military has personnel that you couldn’t dream of—in numbers that would astound you—that are private contractors. They operate in areas that rarely make the news. If they make the news, someone poached the goat.

Yes. When you confiscate money from the creators, and give it to a government entity to then redistribute, you lose efficiency, and it is a drain on the economy. Period. Zero sum.

Now, how much loss vs. possible payback is an ROI question that is use dependent.

Very few functions that are now civil service/government employees were always that way. The government encroached, and took them over. Followed shortly by the unions to make them almost untouchable.

Most civil service jobs began as private functions.

Nice academic argument. Worker safety and fair pay? Private sector abused the fire out of their responsibilities. If the fair market is so ‘fair”, why were workers compensation and wage laws necessary? Unions would not have needed to organize were workers not abused mercilessly. Why were product safety laws needed? The invisible hand places profit above all else. If mankind was altruistic, that might work. But we’re not.

Have you read everything and agree with what the R's are all voting yes on? Or is it "we just need to open the government and we'll fix this at that point" lol
