Who are the teams to watch this season? Any freshmen expected to make an instant impact on varsity this year?

Orangefield basically has everyone back.
PNG lost a lot but will still be competitive because of their pitcher.
Silsbee brings 9 out of 10 starters this year plus two freshmen that will make an impact right away.
Kirbyville is loaded this season.
Vidor has a lot of young talent this year.

Silsbee has a phenom that is a freshman, Kayleigh Rountree. She makes the already loaded Silsbee team even better.

I have heard about the Rountree girl and the Silsbee team. Should be an interesting year in that district.

Liberty has been a powerhouse for years. I’m assuming they’ll still be good

Liberty will be Liberty no doubt. They lost their pitcher and a couple key pieces, but they will still be very strong.

Shepherd High School lost 2 seniors of impact to graduation in 2025 but are gaining at least 3-4 freshmen that are select/travel players to replace those losses. A few of the sophomores found travel teams and kept competing over the summer. Coach Martin has one Division 1 commit in Isabelle Hooper (UT Arlington) Senior 19-4A Pitcher of the Year, Jayce Wilson Senior power hitter/pitcher returning from injury, Skylee Lagow a sophomore that plays for Hustle National and she anticipate 2 more commitments before signing day.

They lost in the Regional Semi-Finals to the eventual 4A DII state champions Waco Robinson in two games, but the games were CLOSE, Shepherd had runners in position and 1 or 2 extra hits away each game from beating Robinson and if you look at the rest of Robinson's game to the Championship, they were a series of blowouts.

2026 should be a very exciting season imo for Shepherd High School Lady Pirates

Shepherd was inconsistent last year. Very talented but had some weird losses and close games against teams not very good.

I do expect them to have a very solid season this year though.

Oh I agree, very streaky and inconsistent hitting. If they can improve that, should be a great year.

Daughter goes to Kirbyville and they are loaded. Junior class is loaded with Talent, 2 Seniors this year that are both committed to play. Couple of Juniors already getting some offers. From what I hear they have a couple of Freshman/Sophomores that could make a big impact as well. New coach this year so we will see if they can do something this year!

Brookeland girls will make another run to State and probably finish the deal off this year after losing to the 2x defending state champs Jonesboro by 1 run. Returning all starters but 2. They have a good core group to make a run this year and next.
