A lawn boy and Model U.N. kid has been appointed to lead counterterrorism.

22 year old Thomas Fugate, the “lawn boy and Model U.N. kid” overseeing terrorism prevention at DHS.  The president selected a kid of overseeing the government’s main hub for terrorism prevention.

His work experience includes lawn care, working part time as a clerk at HEB and internship at the Heritage Foundation.  I feel safe already.   Only hires the best of the best.

Let’s not forget that a convicted drug trafficker was appointed to the second highest in command of a branch in the DOJ.  He is now a Federal Law Enforcement Officer.  However, he is rich.

I fear none of those. Why are you panicking? Those terror organizations have been around.

Maybe if the kid had bartender on his resume, he’d be qualified.

Google his name.  He is the best that was available.  I assume he completed basic training, served  his country or has a strong back ground in this line of work.

A spokesperson for the Trump administration also told ProPublica that the "notion that this single office is responsible for preventing terrorism is not only incorrect, it's ignorant.”

This is the hidden content, please

Yep. The ignorant thinking part sounds about right…

Personally, I think an A/B high school grad could definitely do a better job than Mayorkas or Kamala (border czar). They both set the bar very low.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You would think that he was named the head of the CIA or the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for this military.

He is the head of an agency with less than 20 people. It’s function is to coordinate with federal, state and local governments and non-profit organizations and universities mainly by giving grants for the study on how to recognize and prevent terrorism.

OMG!! The country is going to fold if some free money to non-profits and universities isn’t divided up right!!!

😂😂😂😂😂

Expected.

Yes, I expected a one word response rather than addressing my comment.

It should appear quite obvious to anyone that the original post was to try to make it seem like this guy was the head of Homeland Security “terrorist prevention” as in, having some authority over the military, CIA and so on. I wonder how many people reading the opening comment believed that it was a person of some real authority and not a group of less than 20 people who coordinates to give out grants to non-profit private organizations and universities.

Yep, absolutely expected!

Yep, tears them up every time. I didn’t even research this young man. The left lives for drama even if they have to create it. My statement still stands.

Again it went over your head.  I will continue to  respond when Doge and this president fires Veterans and Federal workers because they are not the best qualified or because of wasteful spending.   These men and women deserve better.
let’s not start with 🤡 requesting to raise the debt ceiling in this so called beautiful bill and the big beautiful clown parade.

The Trump administration doubled down on its war on veterans as the Department of Veterans Affairs outlined plans to fire 80,000 additional workers after having already removed 6,000 (https://www.kaine.senate.gov/press-releases/kaine-demands-answers-on-mass-layoffs-of-veterans-from-federal-workforce).

According to the March 4 memorandum (https://chrome-extension//efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.afge.org/globalassets/documents/generalreports/2025/va-memo-3-4-25.pdf), the plan is to implement a reduction in force (RIF) in August to reduce staff to 399,957 employees, the staffing level in fiscal 2019 prior to the passage of the PACT Act, which expanded veterans’ benefits.

The VA has been severely understaffed for years, causing veterans to have to wait too long for the care they need. New hiring waves took place after Congress passed the PACT Act that promises benefits to veterans who either died or became ill as a result of exposure to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances.

The federal government is the largest employer of veterans, who make up about 30% of the federal workforce compared to only 6% in the civilian workforce. More than 640,000 veterans worked for the federal government before Trump’s layoffs. More than half of them are disabled. The administration fired 2,400 probationary employees last month. Veterans fired from their jobs feel betrayed (https://apnews.com/article/trump-federal-workers-veterans-fired-1032360fdc6b2fb33d88edaf8f54d5ca) by Trump.

AFGE is calling on Congress to intervene.

“Until Elon Musk and Donald Trump came on the scene, America never turned its back on our veterans and their families. Their reckless plan to wipe out the VA’s ability to deliver on America’s promise to veterans will backfire on millions of veterans and their families who risked their lives in service for our country,” said AFGE National President Everett Kelley.

I can’t believe you said this.
