The crazy wreck at Georgia Tech

A small but violent protest rocked the Georgia Tech campus in midtown Atlanta Monday night when about 50 angry demonstrators marched to the campus police station and burned a patrol vehicle. Police arrested three people and charged them with inciting a riot and battery of an officer. The clashes started after a peaceful vigil held for a student shot by campus police over the weekend. Officers responded Saturday to a 911 call about a man with a knife and possibly a gun outside a dorm. Scott “Scout” Schultz, 21, refused to drop what appeared to be a knife when officers confronted him. One officer eventually shot him. Investigators later confirmed Schultz held a multipurpose tool with a knife blade that was not extended. They also revealed Schultz made the call to 911, giving dispatchers a detailed description of himself. Investigators found three suicide notes in his dorm room. His parents said Schultz suffered from depression and had tried to commit suicide two years ago, but they claimed he did not appear troubled when they dropped him off several weeks ago for his last year of school. Schultz was a computer engineering student and served as president of Georgia Tech’s Pride Alliance. He considered himself neither male nor female and preferred the plural pronouns “they” and “their” over the singular “him” or “his.” The attorney representing William and Lynne Schultz said they plan to sue the university.

"Drop the Knife"....going once.....going twice.....bang. Decisions people. Follow law enforcement direction, especially when you are holding potential weapons. Also, the Man had written 3 suicide notes, according to the story. He knew what he was doing.

Suicide by cop.  Guess he didn't try hard enough on the previous 2 attempts to kill his self.  There should be no monetary damages awarded.
