He chose to make a political statement on the clock at his job.  This statement cost the owners, the NFL, and their advertisers millions of dollars in lost revenue.  

 

Kaep had every right to kneel, just like the teams have every right not to hire him.  I don't know of many professions that would hire an employee that negatively affects their bottom line like that.  It's really not that hard to understand.
