  1. [Hidden Content] bad news for 21-3a...this kid is a monster! I had the opportunity to talk with him Saturday. Great kid and I wish him and HJ best of luck this season
  2. can we keep the football talk on the football board.....please??
  3. I have never met a select baseball coach that could or would keep all of his promises. Also, please dont be mislead, whether you or the organization pays the bills - there is a "cost" to play select ball. Seek out the organization that truely covets your son for the right reasons. The coaches and staff that talk about work ethic and character development and a staff that builds confidence in its players. With most of these coaches player development for some players ends when a player from another organization becomes "available". This practice in itself I wouldnt say is bad - except that very few organizations will tell you up front that they will not stop seeking the best avaliable talent and eventually this may diminish some players playing time and opportunities. It takes integrity to declare these things and most simply wont be honest with parents and recruits up front. There is a difference between organizations that fill roster spots versus organizations that actually develop potential and talent. Every select coach I have ever met talks the talk - very few walk the walk. I am a believer in select baseball and its rewards for players that continue to work towards their goals and dreams. Hard honest work never goes unrewarded. Find the organization that will develop work ethic and will build confidence in your son.
  4. yall are idiots...idk if this is just talk to stir the pot or if you actually think you're going to be that good...either way its pretty pathetic
  5. Gee, the Golden Triangle media didn't put a lot of time in on a high school team that is not from the Golden Triangle. Go figure. They also did not spend any time on LaMarque so I guess we slighted them also. I wonder how much time the media around Dayton and Liberty spent on Nederland and WO-S? Dayton won the district so I guess you believe that they should be the talk of the town around Beaumont. Well it isn't going to happen, sorry. If Nederland wins district next year, I am not going to be shocked if the Bulldogs are not the talk of the town in Dayton. If Dayton has a bulletin board, I doubt they will be flapping ;their gums (or keyboards) about the GT next year.
  6. Just from what I've heard lately I think UTEP is a strong contender. I had heard talk of A&M but that was last year and I don't know how strong a possibility that is anymore. None of this is based on fact, just word of mouth.
  7. This thread was posted to see who you would pick on the feild Charles or Mosely... Not for you EC to slander Charles as a student. Mosely is an intellegent kid...good for him, I am an engineer and proud to see someone go for it. But being an engineer is not for everyone. I am intellegent but that gives me no right to call someone esle stupid. Charles may have struggled a bit but he is making his way. He will probaly spend four years in college and may not become a pro but he will have his degree. And if he becomes a pro his pay check will be far greater than the engineer. For a kid that let's say struggled. He used his talents to get himself somewhere... and will have a college degree. For you smart A$$ ECBUCFAN, stay in your place and talk football!!!! That is what this thread was about! And not to slander Mosely but he did well and I am proud to see him do well. He did not come out of one of the best districts in 5A... He came out of a 4A district on a down year... Great Kid, Great Year but no Jamal!!!!!

    21-3A Predictions

HJ wont even beat OF both times and OF will be starting 4 freshman this year (which are studs). Orangefield will be young young this year with the only All district pick returning will be the sophmore Peevey who was first team all district as a freshman. But after watching all of these teams play last year and seeing silsbee and Jasper last year in the Jasper Tourny, I will say 1-Silsbee-behind the pitching of the 6'5 letfy (who is only a Soph) Tied for second by spliting distict wins-Jasper-Senior, Seniors, Seniors BC- Kacey Jackson is a beast, and Stringer will pull out one win agianst Jasper. 4. Orangefield-Young but these kids can play and the Peevey kid pitches like a senior 5. Hj-Not enough pitching but good bats especially with the Spanky kid 6. HF- a young team that plays hard 7. Kville- young and up and comming team 8.WOS- wow talk about drop off this year
  9. haha being that your on the team and all huh? HAHA we will see how yall do against silsbee BLEED ORANGE.. then you can talk
  10. Now diva, I'll take your word on the speed, strength and zone reading ability, but your ability to comprehend is clearly lacking. I didn't call peolpe geeks who talked high school football, I was comparing geek and athletes on the post graduate walks down memory lane !!!! I know this a forum for high school football discussion, but expanding the talk into other areas that pertain to hs football seems harmless. last, but not least, playing hs football doesn't mean squat is a statement of perspective. HS football campared to almost anything in life will pale by comparison. If I've offended you or anyone else, I am sorry  I will be more carefull in the future.

  12. Can't speak to why Brett Ramsey wasn't picked, but I certainly don't have a problem with why Dishon was picked. [Hidden Content] I don't see a reason to bring Dishon into a comparison with Ramsey in order to make a point here. Ask the question, "Why wasn't Ramsey picked?" Answer, "Don't know". Ask "Why was Dishon picked?" Obvious to me, but you can read it for yourself. Stir the pot, beat the dead horse, talk it into the ground, it's yesterday's news now, and regardless of who might think it was an injustice, it's done. Time to move on.
  13. OF plays the toughest schedule possible. If we scheduled Central twice then coach A. doesn't view them as a weak team. It works the same for the Central coach. If she scheduled OF twice then she knew they would benefit from playing us. Tough competition gets you ready for a possible playoff run. Hopefully the game benefited both teams. There will always be talk. That's sports........................ Are you telling me that the world doesn't revolve around Orangefield?
  14. Let that be your chastising lesson for the day. All you geeks get off of that computer and get to making a better life for us all.... while I sit here and talk about high school football like Al Bundy.
  15. all this talk is fun, but don't most good athletes eventually, sooner or later, move into real life situations. Does the geek spend the rest of his life talking about his high school accomplishments? Keep this all in perspective. Being a good football player doesn't mean squat!! Move on, mature and make a difference off the field.
  16. How come KFDM Coop can remove my post? He talks about someone and it's OK and I talk about hime and he removes my post! To find out more PM "KFDM Coop" and ask>
  17. its up to your coach to nominate them.......talk to your HC
  18. Yankees win bid to talk to Japanese pitcher Yankees win rights to Igawa for $26,000,194 By RONALD BLUM, AP Baseball Writer November 28, 2006 NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Yankees got a chance to sign a Japanese pitcher on their second try this offseason, winning the rights Tuesday to Kei Igawa after losing out to the Boston Red Sox two weeks ago for Daisuke Matsuzaka. New York's offer of $26,000,194 -- the last three digits matching his strikeout total this year -- was the highest bid among major league teams for Igawa, and it was accepted Tuesday by his Japanese team, the Hanshin Tigers. "The Yankees are a team with a lot of tradition," Igawa said at a news conference in Osaka. "They get a lot of media attention, like the Tigers do. I was surprised to hear the team bid that much for me, and I feel like today I've taken another step toward realizing my dream." Boston bid $51.1 million earlier this month to win the right to negotiate with Seibu Lions' Matsuzaka, the MVP of the World Baseball Classic and a possible No. 1 starter. A 27-year-old left-hander, Igawa could compete for a spot at the back of New York's rotation next season behind Chien-Ming Wang, Mike Mussina and Randy Johnson. Carl Pavano, coming off 1 1/2 seasons of injuries, also would be in the rotation if healthy, and the Yankees have expressed possible interest in signing free agents Ted Lilly or Gil Meche. New York has until midnight at the end of Dec. 28 to work out a contract with Igawa's agent, Arn Tellem -- who also represents Yankees left fielder Hideki Matsui. Igawa allowed a home run to the New York Mets' David Wright this month during an exhibition game between Japanese and major league All-Stars. "We have been following Kei Igawa's very successful and accomplished career in Japan, and we are excited about the opportunity to begin the negotiating process with him," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said in a statement. The Yankees pay Hanshin only if they reach an agreement with Igawa. "I am very pleased to have the rights to sign him for the Yankees," owner George Steinbrenner said in a statement issued by spokesman Howard Rubenstein. The Yankees bid between $32 million and $33 million for Matsuzaka. The Red Sox have until midnight at the end of Dec. 14 to agree to a deal with Matsuzaka and his agent, Scott Boras. "I'm looking forward to having a pitching duel with Matsuzaka," Igawa said. "I know the fans there have very high expectations and I'll do my best to live up to them." After the bidding on Igawa closed Monday, the Tigers were informed of the amount of the high bid, but not which team made it. The Mets bid between $15 million and $16 million for Igawa, a baseball official said on condition of anonymity because the amounts of losing bids are not disclosed. Igawa went 14-9 last season with a 2.97 ERA. He tied for the Central League lead in strikeouts -- he won strikeout titles in 2002 and 2004. Igawa, the Central League's 2003 MVP, has an 86-60 record with a 3.15 ERA. He would have to play in Japan for three more seasons before he could become a free agent. AP Sports Writer Jim Armstrong in Tokyo contributed to this report.
  19. Being on the team last year and I can say this for all the seniors that graduated, it's good to see the guys getting back to where we got last year. I got a chance to watch the team for the second time this year last weekend and with Chavis at strong side LB, Coleman in the middle, and Stelly on the weakside this defense should stay stout against the run since the defense is designed for the LB's to make tackles. Defensively against the pass, Chatman and Falgout need to show some leadership this week and talk their guys up and get them ready to play. Offensively all I can say is wow. Michaels tore it up against the varsity defense last year in practice so we knew he was gonna be good but my goodness... And Albert was doing the same thing last year he's doing this year, he just had a senior in front of him... That being said, against Cy-Falls theyll put up respectable games... As long as Powdrill, Banks and the rest of the receiving corps catch the ball, I don't see the offense having trouble cause they will always be able to run the ball... #11 just needs to use his head and make smart throws... Cy-Falls had a close game last week and I talked to a guy that graduated from Falls last year and he's telling me everyone is talking about playing Katy that's on the team... That being said, WB in a close HIGH scoring game...
  20. Ok I know this may will cause some talk, but I think Brett Ramsey should have got 2nd team QB before Dishon. These are the stats I found from the Orange Leader. Dishon 1600 Total Yards 13 TD's Ramsey 1966 Total Yards 28 TD's
  21. Hello and welcome to the All Southeast Texas Football Team Nomination Forum. In this forum you will have the opportunity to express who you believe should be on the team. Please be sure include the player's name, class standing, team, stats, and any other information that should be known. The first wave of nominations will end on December 20. The following day, December 21, we will have our nomination show on our radio show SETXsports Talk Live. On the show the finalists for each position will be announced. Following the show we will take the top finalists from each position, and then place those players in a poll for the masses to vote in. On December 30, 2006, voting will end for the All Southeast Texas Team. On January 3, 2006 we will release our All Southeast Texas Team, on SETXsports Live and also on KFDM Channel 6. Please note that while we will take into consideration the votes of the SETXsports.com members, we wont neccesarily choose the player with the most votes to be on the All Southeast Texas Team. This is done so that smaller schools will not be at a disadvantage. Opinions of Coaches and SETXsports Staff Members will also be taken into consideration. Lastly, we reserve the right to add different award categories if we feel it is neccessary. As always, we will try and recognize as many players as we can. Just because a player is not a finalist, doesn't neccesarily mean he wont be a part of the team in some way. We take pride in having the opportunity to recognize local athletes for their accomplishments. So Let the Nominating Begin!!
