  3. LM coaching finalists face public By Joshua Buckley The Daily News Published March 7, 2007 LA MARQUE — About 150 La Marque fans filed into the high school’s auditorium Tuesday, hoping to have their say in who will be the Cougars’ next athletic director and head football coach. The two finalists — Lamar Consolidated’s Lydell Wilson and Refugio’s Chris Jones — gave short presentations and answered questions from the hiring committee and the crowd about what they hoped to accomplish as the next La Marque athletic director and football coach. La Marque interim athletic director Larry Walker was a third finalist for the position, but informed Superintendent Ecomet Burley earlier Tuesday that he was taking his name out of the running. “I’m not at liberty to talk about Larry Walker,†Burley said. “He gave me the reasons he withdrew, but they were personal, so I am going to decline comment on them.†Walker’s decision caught many of the members of the crowd off guard. “I was really surprised that Larry backed out,†said Robert Nelson, a youth football coach for the Mainland Express. “I talked to him at about 10 o’clock today and he didn’t mention anything about it. I’m curious to find out why he took his name out of the running.â€
  4. Theres a JV talk thread man. And..... I dont know anyone from ya'lls JV, sry.
  5. just like in little league when all the parents, and uncles, and cousins, and bro in laws would lineup and and down the fence... then you have the other games of all ages going on around you.... then you have to pay a lady holding a bucket to get in the stadium then you have to go in between three fields to take a leak then you dont' have anywhere to park unless its in a ditch then there are 2 mounds then there are 7 bases then there is no press box, just a guy screaming into a microphone, when all he really needs to do is cut out the bottom of a paper cup, and talk... i could go on, but IMHO this all resembles a little league atmosphere no offense to anyone, just answering the guys question
  6. I personally love teams that make alot of positive "baseball talk" from their dugout. Fire your teamates up, etc. The negative talk directed at your opponent is bush league. BH played FT.Elkins this past weekend. You will be hard pressed to find a group of kids that has less class than the Elkins "boys".
  7. Gillispie wants Big 12 to lobby more for Tournament entries Aggies coach says league falls short in marketing its postseason candidates COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M coach Billy Gillispie has voiced concerns that the Big 12 was not doing enough to secure conference teams more bids to the NCAA tournament. "I'm really disappointed in the way that people are perceiving our league, and I think our league doesn't do as good a job as our competitors do as far as marketing our league because we're talking about a team in our league that needs to win a game in the conference tournament and they've already got 10 wins? Give me a break," Gillispie told reporters Monday. Kansas State (21-10, 10-6), which finished fourth in the regular season, is still being mentioned as a bubble team for the NCAAs. Gillispie said that's frustrating, particularly when he hears that other conferences are looking at getting seven or more bids. "Nobody plays better basketball than us one through 12. We just haven't done a good enough job, in my opinion, as a league," Gillispie said. "I think the members are taking care of the league better than the league is taking care of its members in this particular situation." Other leagues do it better Gillispie said he didn't know "what the answer is but I know that some other leagues have it figured out." "I'm not one of those administrators or whatever, but I know the coaches and the players and the teams do a lot for the league," Gillispie said. "I think that they have to figure out a way, maybe study other leagues and talk to other leagues and be more proactive instead of reactive because our teams are too good and our players are too good and our coaches have done a great job. ... Why are we settling for a certain number of teams in the tournament when everybody else is getting more?" "I don't know what more the teams and the coaches and the players can do," he added. "We need to have more help." Weiberg says exec works on TV Commissioner Kevin Weiberg pointed out that the Big 12 has an associate commissioner dedicated to basketball and has worked to secure more national television appearances for the conference — including 35 on ESPN networks and eight on national broadcast networks. He also commended the conference's media relations staff for providing "as much information, as good quality information, as anyone." "On the side of just talking about the tournament, we avail ourselves of every opportunity to talk to our appointed NCAA men's basketball committee contacts, and I know from speaking directly to them that they believe the quality of information we've provided to them is very good," Weiberg said. "I think that the effort that we put into it is a pretty good one. "I know that coaches get frustrated when they see stories being written from time to time about teams with winning conference records potentially being so-called bubble teams, and I understand that frustration and share it. But I do think that you have to, at some point, have to feel like the process is going to take care of some of that and you have to understand that we're all working really hard to do the best we can for the conference." The Big 12 got six bids each year from 2000 to 2003 before dropping to four in 2004. Six Big 12 teams got in again in 2005 and four made the tournament last year. "I think our conference is clearly among the top five or six conferences in the country," Weiberg said. "From my perspective, if you have a winning or even a .500 conference record in the Big 12 you should be receiving very serious consideration to being in the at-large field."
  8. No, I agree JCfan. I wish they would have done better and improved on the talent they had, but the fact of the matter was that they were kind of hard to watch just because, like you say, they weren't improving during the season for reasons unknown to me. I'm not trying to be the bad guy here, I just got started typing and the next thing you know, I was on my soap box. WH is my home. I've always seen it this way. If I didn't care about it, I wouldn't express myself at all in these matters. Hopefully next year will be better. WHalum, I know what you mean about having coach/teacher/busdriver/bombtechnicians and for 30K a year, I mean hey, we had coach Bland teaching us about Health, on matters of personal hygene. Talk about underqualified. ;D
  9. FROM SMOAKY.COM Should Chapel Hill Schools close for State Playoff Basketball Game I was told administration will meet Sunday to decide what to do on Thursday. What do you think? Should administration close Chapel Hill ISD Thursday to allow fans to attend the game? Talk is super said no - nothing final yet.
  10. who cares they are both great players lets talk about something else
  11. Ok..... NO ONE is going to talk Shark out of picking Yeah yeah, so, no point in trying! He obviously saw something that impressed him with yeah yeah and wasnt impressed by Kirby. EVERYONE knows Kirby has been signed with the Dynamo U-18 team and thats awesome! I personally think that Kirby is the best player because I have had a chance to see him play a little more then Shark. All im saying is that no one needs to get angry because theres ONE person in the world that thinks Yeah Yeah is better then Kirby. Calm down and shake it off, theres still MANY more people that think Kirby is the best.
  12. I dnt kno why there is any talk at all, you cnt look at HS to see whos the best, ypu have to look at club.. They start on even ground their, both play div 1 in houston, I think kirby is in a different flight though, but if you see how they do in club kirby is the better player he starts for a better club and is in the youth academy with Dynamo, the scouts for the Dyanmo had every chance to pick up Yeah Yeah but they didnt they choose Matt out of every U-16 U-17 U18 player in almost all south texas and you still want to say Yeah Yeah is a better player , he's good but not better than Matt
  13. Hardin's 3rd string QB from last year (Jordan Nolan) had to finish the season up after a couple of injuries. He was their best reciever, and without himself to throw to, he still managed over 100 yards/game...and talk about dropped passes. He throws on the money, and makes some really good decisions, if he can add some size to his frame next year, he will impress alot of people.
  14. Let them talk they have earned it
  15. Very cool! I can hear the trash talk already though..... :
  16. I WOULDNT BE SO SURE KING....THEY ARE LERKING AROUND EVERY CORNER, WAITING TO TALK SMACK...........BUT I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT!!!!
  17. I agree watch what you say....look at all the smack talk the other schools did and they lost.... but I am still going with the oilers.... all the way baby...
  18. Yes they do and someone needs to talk to our cheerleaders! They want people to stand and then they don't even do a cheer, or when the stands start Oilers and they just stand there. Sometimes they even start a different cheer!
  19. It's only March 1st. Keith Jones said late March for Yao's return. Let Yao get healthy and be at 100% for the playoffs. The guy broke his tibia bone that holds his 300 lbs of weight. Tmac must be a leader and lead the team. He is after all the captain with 10 years of experience and 17 million a year in salary. For once in your life Tmac lead. Tracy was doing that until FANS STARTED CHANTING MVP AT THE DALLAS GAME. That started the slump. Tmac has always been a guy who does well when people bash him but once he gets some success he becomes a bum. Up against the pistons in round one "Glad to be in the second round". Up 2-0 vs the Mavs. Stop praising tmac and instead bash him so he has a chip on his shoulder. Yao has not been out 11 weeks. Yao got hurt on Dec 23rd vs the LAL. December- 8 days out january- 31 days out Feb- 28 days out Total 67 days 67/7 = 9.5 weeks. Doctors says a tibia break could take up to 12 weeks before a player is CLEARED FOR PRACTICE. Yao's been rehab since 7 weeks. REMARKABLE. Jonathan you really should have a talk with your stats guy. 9 1/2 weeks is not 11 weeks. In sports stats matter a lot and your stats guy has dropped the ball a number of times. Yao's injury is suppose to take 12 weeks to heal and a few weeks more to rehab. That means Yao should be back around the first game in April. Keith Jones said late March. The Rockets should not risk Yao's health. The Rockets are NOT going to over take the Spurs for the #3 seed. SA is really heating up now for the strech run like a real elite team. The Rockets will likely face the Jazz in round one. Seeds 7 and 8 are way baehind the Rockets. The 9th best record in the West is way behind the Rockets. Houston should make the POs. With a healthy 100% (health and conditioning) Yao the Rockets may make some noise. Rehab Yao. Don't come back at 40%. Come back at 100% not even 90%.
  20. Guys we are all making it worse.....I ahve decided that I will not post any replys to this idiot. Don't respond wheter you agree or not and he can only talk to himself!!!!
  21. Well tell West Hardin fans to stop talking about the guy they think he's everything......thats all yall do is talk about is BRANDON this and BRANDON that......they need to realize ...but they live in a make believe world and it gets old when they he's player of the year when he's not
  22. I am not dogging anyone I am just speaking the truth.......this is like a west hardin website yall all making 2 or 3 screen names so yall can all talk about west hardin.......the reason yall are getting all mad because its the dang truth.....if i thought brandon could hang with the big boys then i would tell you......I been watching basketball around this area for the past 20 years......and he can't hang with them....not being rude but its just the truth....
  23. Cayuga is a very good team. I do wish their trash talkers would calm themselves, but they are mainly trying to shake any players that might read this. They are going to be a team that playing BS three times will have helped prepare WH for. Also, I don't think this game will be a blowout either way. WH needs to play hard, strong, good basketball with few mental errors just like at Evadale against BS. If they play that way I will take them by 6. Oh yeah, it is a shame that kids other than the players themselves get on here and talk all that trash about what the players are going to do.
  24. You people on here can trash talk all you want to but we have not said anything bad about your team. We are just trying to support our team and show our spirit. Quit making the predictions that your team will win in a blowout because you never know what can happen this is the playoffs and the best teams are still in this.
