Is it true that Kyle Green is leaving the Lamar Baseball program after just one year? Have heard there is a lot of disgruntlement among the baseball coaching staff. Not a good start if this is true for Will Davis' coaching era here at Lamar. 
Why would the legendary local high school coach/Lamar pitching coach/Lamar Baseball alumni be leaving so soon????????? It doesn't sound good!

With the flooding in north Louisiana, McNeese State offered their baseball field this weekend to Lamar and Northwestern. The conference series was to be played in-between McNeese and HBU's series. It was ok'd by the southland conference officials, but not ok'd by Jim Gilligan. 

Jim Gilligan's excuse to the Northwestern coaches was only NOT in Lake Charles....... 

Again, WHY DOES JIM GILLIGAN NOT WANT TO GO TO LAKE CHARLES???????????

It was a non-conference game. This year in Lake Charles and one game next year in Beaumont.

McNeese didn't cancel the game. The cancellation came from Lamar. 

March 22, 2016. In a couple of weeks. Strange. 

Definitely not weather. The game was cancelled 2 weeks ago. Scheduled date March 22. 

Does anyone know why the Lamar-McNeese mid-week baseball game was cancelled in Lake Charles? This is very unusual being so late. 

The rumor has it that Jim Gilligan cancelled this game because he did not want to go to Lake Charles. If so, what a true COWARD!

 

Don't you think the assistant coaches are having a hard time recruiting when many players from other schools do not want to come to Lamar because of Gilligan? I wouldn't blame the assistant coaches for the recruiting, since they have something holding them back. Theres a lot more to the problem than everyone thinks.

Do you mean clean house as in just Gilligan?  Yes, you can bring great talent to Lamar, but the head coach ultimately makes all the decisions. If players do not like the head coach, they will not play for him. The rest of the coaching staff is doing a great job, but they are still under Coach G's total control......

  How do you know if it is talent or coaching by sitting in the stands or at home reading a sports forum. Everyone complaining thinks they have this all figured out, but have no idea what is really going on at Lamar Baseball. Lamar Baseball year and year out has had excellent talent and this shows in the number of players that have been drafted.  The talent is there and it has always been there.
  “Gilligan has lost the team nobody respects him as coach.” This is to the person who commented on Gilligan. If you believe this and understand this, you would know just how hard it is to recruit and to bring players to Lamar. You would also understand if you do not respect your coach you will not play as a team and you become an INDIVIDUALIST!!!  Not good for the concept of team play.
  Cleaning house is not the answer to this program. Moving the program from the philosophy of 1970 to 2012 could make a huge difference. With the new BBCOR bats the game has changed and evolved. Small ball works. Make things happen. GILLIGAN MIGHT JUST NEED TO TRY THIS.
