Not a good night for the Nederland defense which I considered improved from last year im not a fan of Coach Wright no matter how high Coach Rich is on him. On a positive note Jackson Lane and the special teams (- a few punts) had a pretty good night

Slade Sheppard got most of the qb work last year The issue Lane had last year was accuracy definitely a leader on the baseball field thats for sure

Nederland is going to be heavily dependent on the run game again this year the passing game while an improvement from last year is still not good I think defense will be the biggest improvement I like what I've seen so far...the real season starts next Thursday

Might see Newton vs Canadian again for state

I don't think anyone needs to they have alot of talent on that team this year

Saw this report on Newton vs. Kirbyville. Gonna go out on a limb and say Newton will be the best team in the area this year other than WO-S. In the scrimmage the Eagles scored 5 times through the air and twice on the ground while also causing multiple turnovers on defense. The teams then played a quarter of game situation where Newton had two pick sixes and wound up scoring 30 to Kirbyville's 0.

Well its a benefit to the football team...hate to break it to you but those baseball parents are also football parents at Nederland

He's not on this list but PJ Locke from Central was really good despite being injured almost his entire high school career

I think the key to this season is keeping the RB Ned healthy. Id also like to see improvement at the WR position cause it was awful last year

I think our defensive staff has been the problem the last 2 years and nothing has changed except the personnel is a year more experienced...slight improvement but nothing to write home about...as bad as the district is i see no issue with Nederland making the playoffs
