What is the motivation in that? Division I? No, thanks.
That feeling is shared by some of us Lamar fans too!
LOL, I missed that one. Midwestern would do fine in the SLC. They would excite the Wichita Falls area by moving up.

 3. I always thought Midwestern with it's 14k stadium and West Texas aNm with it's 20k would bring in the Wichita Falls and Amarillo market to the SLC.
 4. Southland wraps up visit at ACU, likely to make decision in coming weeks [Hidden Content]
 5. There was a cool article on the MWC and how they were planning to do tv., I wish I'd post it here but I didn't anyone cared. However as it stands now, Lamar would get 700k a year if joined today. Using cola's divisions, travel would be very doable if the MWC played a format like the SLC did by only playing 1 game away or home across divisions in Olympics sports. Another method Lamar could use to cut cost in travel, play more bus games before conference. Everyone keep in mind, IAH and HOU is our airport now.
 6.
Lamar will go to FBS when they're ready. It's hard enough for people to go to games as is, what do you think will happen when 50,60,70 maybe even 80-0 blowouts occur on a weekly basis?
MWC, not the Big 12. MWC power schools are gone. There are 2-3 schools that might beat Lamar 52-17, however the remaining schools like my UNLV is more like a SBC middle of the pack school. Lamar would be competitive in the MWC football in a short time. MBB, would bring to Beaumont as many as 3 top 25 teams, like UNLV, so Pat will have a big job.
 7. Here is the logic. BE needs 1 more football school, highly preferred a western team. AFA was the target, but they gave a weak maybe not to joining the BE. Many think AFA will go in the end. That would leave the MWC with 9 schools but only 5 baseball schools. MWC would need to add a baseball/football school or lose baseball. UTEP, UTSA, Tulsa, NT, Rice, and Texas st are the mention school. However none of the CUSA teams will pay 7-9 million to leave CUSA to play in the MWC. That leaves Texas st. MWC already told NMSU and Idaho no, although I still think NMSU is in play. Idaho doesn't play baseball. Texas st will need a travel partner or be an expensive island. The only 2 possible travel partners is NMSU and Lamar. However just taking Texas st and Lamar, for example, leaves the MWC with 11 football and 7 baseball. I think the MWC should take Texas st, Lamar, and NMSU. Cons- 3 weak footballs Pros - 3 good baseball, 2 good basketball, Championship game, 3 schools near large markets, MWC in Texas.
 8. I am not alone, there seem to be so steam building for Lamar to join the MWC. Well, not so much love for just Lamar. MWC is really attracted to Texas st potential and would add Lamar as a "descent" travel partner. They say Lamar basketball and 10,000 seat area is attractive.
 9. [Hidden Content] Oh Oh, I got a solution. How about inviting UNO, ACU, and IWU instead of wasting time with these phony campus visits.
 10. Can't happen if Lamar goes FBS next year. Unless Mcneese agrees to play all games in Beaumont, which they won't.

The rest won't respond to heresy.
That is not exactly correct.  I think all here want LU to go FBS.  You're just 1 of 3 that doesn't care if Lamar is ready to compete at that level when they make that move.
Because that logic makes no sense in the real world. Many schools like WKU and ULM were kicking butt in FCS/IAA, then moved to FBS to endure losing for years. Lamar is already losing, might as well build in FBS than to start winning in FCS only to lose again in FBS. Back on topic, how about a poll on Lamar to FBS.
So what your saying is that my assessment of you is dead on.
I do want Lamar to move NOW.

 14.
Why would a Penn St. player transfer to Lamar? They can transfer anywhere without penalty. Without looking at their current roster, but I highly doubt there is a state of Texas player on the Penn St. roster. I can't see any player from the northeast of the country transferring to Lamar.
I'm talking second string or lower ranking players. At Lamar, many of those 2nd string players can start. Anywhere else, back to the bench. It's worth the try.
 15. Any room to grab a few Penn st players for Lamar?
 16. I am bored until kick off time. Soooooooooo, long shot scenario time again. Many on other boards believe if AFA goes Big East, MWC would need a baseball/football school replacement. The school mentioned at the top of the list is Texas st. I can't think of anyone else. Texas st would be a very lonely island in need of a travel partner  ;) ;) ;)
They will make the SLC and similar conferences auto-play-in games.
I beg to differ.  I think they will eliminate the lower tier conferences (those that play FCS football) from being in the NCAA Basketball tournament.  No play in games or anything else that would give a red cent to "smaller" school conferences.  Can no longer be in the "fraternity"!!!
WOW, that is extreme. The big name conferences would have to leave the NCAA to do such.

 19. 'Many options' On April 1, Benson emailed a powerpoint presentation to Sun Belt presidents/chancellors and athletic directors, laying out the league’s various realignment options. One slide listed 21 schools to be considered as “possible additions/replacements” – including Idaho, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Texas State, Utah State, UT-San Antonio, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, James Madison, Liberty, Charlotte, Old Dominion, Belmont, College of Charleston, Florida Gulf Coast, North Florida, St. Louis and Texas-Arlington. “That was just to demonstrate that the Sun Belt had many options,” Benson said. “We needed to think out of the box, but it was just an exercise in showing that the Sun Belt is in a good spot.” [Hidden Content] I think this says it all. Lamar is not looking to move up. I'll end it here because what I have to say about Lamar is not nice. The article also shows Benson as a moron. Who the heck did he think a CUSA school would move to the SBC.
 20.
Too much weight. Major TV markets in Texas are owned by the big boys. Houston (A&M/UT), San Antonio (UT), Dallas (UT/TCU/A&M.....SMU) not SLC schools. Market number is a nice number for mid-major conferences to boast about but it doesn't matter if those markets don't cover you.
I agree. I was just trying to play their game. However my vision would help in travel cost and SLC recruiting.
 21. I think the SLC is giving a lot of weight to market size. Tulsa, San Antonio,, and Abilene is bigger than most SLC. cities. Without San Antonio, IWU would not be getting in. If the SLC could steal UALR, which would bring back UTA. Then add UMKC. Houston Dallas/Forth Worth San Antonio Kansas City New Orleans Tulsa Corpus Christi Abilene Beaumont Lake Charles Combines for 18 million in pop. The SLC could get a TV contract in MBB. Ya think? A bigger pop. than the SBC.
 22.
Please don't mention UMKC. I've been to a Roos game in the Rec Center on campus they play in now. High school games get bigger crowds and it's quiet as can be. I had the most UMKC gear on and I was just there to watch a friend play.
Sounds like UMKC is a perfect fit for the SLC.  ;) UMKC doesn't bring anything to table, except market. Market is what, sadly, gets attention. Maybe a better conference for UMKC will make them better.
 23. 1. I care about the hometown team and knows how prone it is at making dumb decisions. I can only hope Lamar reads this forum. 2. This rant is as much about the SLC. Since we are stuck in this no ambition conference, I can only rant about how to make the SLC at least top 20. 3. The silence in their agreement. I got a Q for you. How come every time I visit katfans site I read you pissing all over Lamar in every thread?  No one here is obsessively ragging on SHSU.
 24. All over the net sports talk is saying ORU is the new premier/flag ship team in the Southland. One site said ORU will bring national name recognition to a bunch of no name schools. I know, I know, Lamar should bow and be humble for Lamar could never be more than a nobody. A few SBC home games Memphis Louisville Tulane Arkansas Baylor Southern Miss Miss st Navy Can you imagine the ORU conference home games Mcmurry Langston Bacon Nicholls st....oh wait, that is a conference member. One more rant, why haven't the ORU conference invited UNO, ACU, and IWU already. Get them in and lets move on. Are they waiting on possible Notre Dame to join?  I would see if UALR might be interested in joining a less travel more regional conference to travel with UCA. That would put schools in Houston, New Orleans, San Antonio, Little Rock. I'm sure UMKC,Kansas city market, would love to leave the Summit. This would bring the ORU conference to 12 football, 17 Basketball. Might be enough to lure UTA back with DFW market. Too bad the league has a think small mentality.
