Disappointing sign of sportsmanship displayed by Kirbyville tonight at their bonfire. They burned a dummy dressed in blue/gray to symbolize a Buna coach/player. I know they are upset about losing their key to the city (lost every varsity game against Buna on the boys side last year) but this is extremely tasteless and leaves me smh.
What? I guess you've never seen the signs that teams put out on the side of the stands... "hunt the lions", " chop the lumberjacks", etc... or a pep rally where the kids do something to a mascot of the other team, or a professional baseball game... I saw it and recognized it for what it was, just some good clean fun... It was a straw dummy on a commode... thats it, nothing more. Get off your pompous high horse.

Oldschool's posts are nauseating. Its old and tiresome.

Very good read. I had been wondering what had happened to Thomas. I'm sure many young men will now benefit from him being a role model.

Thanks. Hope your son recovers well

Who knows? The playoffs are anybody's guess. Some step up while others pee down their leg. I'd like to see Kirbyville go far. I know one of their linebackers Austin Reeves #28. He's just a sophomore but the kid is a headhunter with nothing but motor on him.

I am pulling for Kirbyville. I know their linebacker Austin Reeves #28. Only a sophomore but he's a headhunter. Boy's got a motor on him. Good luck to both teams.

First I'd like to offer my sympathies for the young man. That is a terrible thing that could happen to any of those boys playing on Friday nights. To have it happen near the end of your senior year is especially hard. I have a question though. One thing that always confused me so correct me if I'm wrong here as I am no medical doctor or trainer. If the ACL is torn and has to be operated on what would it hurt (not talking about pain) to just wrap the knee up and continue playing? It already has to be operated on so if it tears more would it damage anything else? Or would the pain just be too intense?

I'd really like to see all 4 teams go deep and have to meet each other in the playoffs. I hope once the season is over that each can rally for the other.

You have to be so careful when you teach school.
In another note, I hear that Burkeville is dropping their Vocational Ag/FFA program. Just not cost effective.
I can see the day when Burkeville is united with Newton, West Hardin with Kountze, Evadale with Buna, Sabine Pass with Pt Arthur....In the case of the last one, I could see a church or private school opportunity in SP.

But not all of these schools are hurting badly. Nothing wrong with small schools. Bigger is not always better.

They will be in the next 2 years....The state money is going to hurt these schools badly.....West Hardin, Evadale, Burkeville are really going to have troubles. I don't know how SP, but the state is going to see all the administration as a waste.
But you'd only see more positions such as Assistant Superintendents open up. Wouldn'tchange anything. -

Great Coach Even better man Congrats on your 100th win, you certainly deserve it. I have been close to the program for several years and can tell you he teaches his players far more than baseball. Keep it up T-Hawk.

LOL He even sends chills up my leg. Just kidding. He's a great guy and a perfect fit. I wish him the best. -

i can understand using the basketball school only excuse if this was one of the first games of the season but its not so i dont think that them starting basketball a little early had anything to do with it HD has played just as many football games and basketball games as Evadale and they still seem to not use that as an excuse
No EXCUSES! We got beat and will learn from it! Leggett just beat us plain and simple! -
But anytime we lose you whine about the refs. Rebels are not supposed to whine. Refs are part of the game and they normally blow calls on both sides. They can't see it all.

I have not seen Spurger play, but some people who know the game told me last year that they had a good point and post. And I am pretty sure they still have those two. I do not know about Evadale. Has Evadale ever been 2A? And arent they a very wealthy school because of a big timber business in town? Does anyone know?
Evadale was in the 2A district until 1987 when they became a 1A school. They would be very wealthy if they didn't have to send back so much money to the state. -
For GOD's sakes if you truly support the Rebels, please SHUT UP! To everyone else, please disregard our own VILLAGE IDIOT!
Truly Rebels know that talk is cheap, worthless, and serves no purpose.
To the players: Say nothing, play hard, and let the chips fall. This goober Dave is no true fan... a Johnny come lately is more like it. Does more harm than good. -
Evadale scores a TD. Rebs up 9-0

Keep it up Kirbyville. Two forced fumbles so far. Just eliminate the mistakes and keep grinding away. Overall a good half of football.
