I just love how the mods even let this thread stay going....lets pick on a program and a bunch of kids....you would fight tooth and nail if the roles were reversed just like these young men are doing. The thread is a obviously stupid question only asked to belittle the football program at HJ. Big freaking deal you beat HJ, move on and maybe set your goals higher, maybe state champs. You act like each time a opponent has played HJ it was a blowout, it was not. Of course these kids want to be successful, yes they are working their tails off right now and you will see a big change over the next few years. And no I don't want to bet, that would be even more idiotic than the topic of this thread without even having a head coach right now. Give it a year or two and you can get one of those banks to put a second mortgage on you RV so you can cover those wanting to bet. I have seen other topics get locked for less, but as long as it against HJ than its ok.  ???  But there are 2 schools no one would be able to say the same thing about without someone getting banned and the post deleted.  ::)
I have to agree with Poppa here.    Any other time a moderator would have issued warnings by the 2nd or 3rd page.
 2.
Does HJ have any pitching? I am not saying that like they don't just don't remember Who was returning ect...
Returning Varsity pitchers are Quad Robertson , Aaron Edelmon, Taylor Reynolds, Collin Bledsoe, Shane O'Bannion, along with the addition of Dylan Duplant.  The pitchers were limited to fastballs during inter squad scrimmage with Pitchers throwing at 70% - 80% speed.  Pitchers looked good working on hitting their spots.  Still too early though to get a good read on their arms.
 3.
Don't know about moved? My schedule says Monday 6 pm for Varsity scrimmage @ HJ
HJ coaches have the games listed as 4:30pm and 7pm @ HJ.
 4.
And you know this doesn't happen? Might want to just step away from this topic now.
Okay,  I'm lost now.  You seem to be taking something I said personally.  Feel free Lazeek to send me a personal message to express your concerns over what I said to upset you.
So, if an athlete in high school is doing something that can potentially hurt himself, are you saying the team should have a "come to Jesus meeting" with the teammate in question?

wrong if you are putting responsibility on teammates some people will make decisions regardless of what they are told
If the act in question is detrimental to the team, then yes,  his teammates should question his commitment to the team and maybe put pressure on him to change the behavior.  If it is harmful to himself, then those teammates who are his friends and care about his welfare might want to talk to him or express their concerns to someone who can help.

 7. A topic that will become relevant in the near future needs to be addressed by Coaches to their student-athletes. Student-Athletes need to understand that their off-court decisions not only affect their own personal lives, but also it can have a detrimental affect on their team and school.  One wrong decision and everything that the athlete has worked toward can be taken away.  But members of the team need to also understand that they also have a responsiblity to the team to make sure that a teammate is not acting in a way that can affect the team negatively. The members of the team need to not worry about ridicule or retribution if they know of a situation that is happening that can affect the team and the teammate brings it to the attention of the coach.  Just as an individual is responsible for his own actions, he should be held accountable by his team to to make good decisions.  A lot of kids nowadays make a decision thinking it will only affect themselves, but most decisions have a "ripple effect' that affects those around them including their teammates.  These young men need to understand that sometimes we need to help our teammates from their own worst enemy, themselves.  Jusy my .02
The Administration is still trying to decide on an Interim AD since David's last day is next Friday (1/8/2013).  I know of 2 on his staff who will be throwing their hats in the ring to replace him.
 9.
HJ needs to hire TROY ESPRIT. This guy is a is the best candidate. Guarantee Troy will get the kids that can really ball off the streets and on the field. Hj's better player are in the stands or at BISD football game...lol- Hire Spree if you want to win now. They probably wont because they have Never had a Black football coach, Assistant or Head. You have to get the stronger minority kids from Cheek, China, Nome, and Sour Lake to play. Not just the rich kids from Pinewood.
I don't think the color of the skin of the football coach has anything to do with certain students participating in football at HJ. It has more to do with the work ethics of certain idividuals who felt that certain positions should be handed to them, that in no way should thay be made to compete with other athletes for these positions. To make a statement that a certain person wouldn't get the job due to the color of his skin is what makes these topics turn ugly and end up having to have the admins lock them. Just keep your race-baiting comments to yourself.
 10. There was an announcement made this morning that David Martel will be leaving Hardin-Jefferson.  He has accepted a job with another school district.  We wish you all the best Coach Martel in your future endeavors on and off the field!
 11. HJ takes another crown at the Aransas Pass Tournament by defeating the host team 64-53. The Hawks move to 9-1 on the season. Zjori Bosha and Braiden Harmon were selected to the All Tournament Team.
 12. The Hawks gutted out a tough, physical win against Corpus Christi Calallen, 59-49. HJ moves to 7-1 on the season.
 13. The Hawks overcame a poor shooting performance with great defense and defeated Incarnate Word Academy 55-40. HJ will play Corpus Christi Calallen at 3:30 PM.
 14. HJ defeated Port Lavaca 65-42. Zjori Bosha had 29. The Hawks play Incarnate Word Academy today at 11 am.
 15.
Personal foul on Tiger/Hawks! Refs are a joke with all the flags.
A lot of extra curricular activity going on after the whistle on both sides. Refs just trying to keep control of the game.
 16. Turn overs hurting Silsbee. Looks like Tigers came in a little over-confident.
 17. Silsbee JV 14 HJ JV        12 HJ had a TD called back in the final minute for holding.  Silsbee's points all scored in the 1st half.  HJ held them scoreless after half-time. A great game played by both teams.
 18. The man that helped your son is Shawn Klinger.  He is the Head Athletic Trainer for HJISD.  He can be reached at [email protected].  Glad your son is ok.
 19. My IPad has become useless on this website.  I keep having to refresh Safari because the pop ups are covering the postings.  After about 4-5 refreshings it finally stops until I toto a new topic then the pop-ups are back.
Hawk supporters are here, just figured since y'all have it all figured out, we would just wait till the game to see for ourselves.  BTW, the Boys on the team been reading the posts and hopefully will draw some inspiration from it.  So......please by all means, continue. 8) “The most dangerous creation of any society is the man who has nothing to lose.”  James Baldwin
Ok I'll continue, Mustangs stomp the heck out of the hawks the good lord himself would hav to suit up to stop this from happening. With that said most of this stuff is just smack talk, fun and games I pray folr and injury free game for both teams. But I meant the part when I said the stangs stomp the heck outta the hawks. Alabama coach Nick Saban said it last year before they played LSU "those guys feel its their destiny to win the national championship this year because of everything they went through, bcause they have run the table in the SEC, because they deserve it, well you know what screw their destiny we are Alabama and I don't give a dang!"  Good Luck Hawks
;D

 22.

No, my name is Barry Edelmon and I actually ran the youth league out here for about 5 years. Dont know Kville Kats... The film shows the kids free arm kind of whip around and the Bmt Enterprise pic to me looks like he landed on it. Doesnt matter either way and wish it would not have happened. My point was the hit was hard, and it was not a fluke hit. Our boys are different this year. Bigger, stronger and all of the "me" and "I" kids are gone. The attitudes are better, and we are excited about football in Sour Lake right now. I was basically being a smartazz when someone tried to correct me on something that wasnt even my point. Like I said earlier, I stand corrected... Moving on...
Interesting.... I don't recall any issues over there last year, other than going 1-9. Just how many of those "me" and "I" kids were there?
There were some issues last year at HJ besides going 1-9.  These issues are hopefully in the past and the program can continue without any distractions.  They were kept quite and did not need to be discussed in an open forum.  Some things, when discussed and brought into the light of day, tend to grow and become more of a distraction.  Sometimes it's better to keep one's dirty laundry to oneself and not air it out for everyone to see or comment on in a public forum. So, on that note...... HJ is just glad to start the season 3-1 when we weren't  expected to win a game this year.

They just beat a team that man handled Silsbee in a scrimmage.
3 very very important words............    IN A SCRIMMAGE!
Yes it was a scrimmage.  But the difference against Silsbee was EC didn't turn the ball over 5 or 6 times (I lost count against HJ) and EC didn't have 4 starters hurt.  (Remember in 2A many starters go both ways).  I've seen HF, HJ, and OF play.  Here is my prediction of how they finish: 1 WOS 2 Silsbee 3 HF I think OF, Buna, and HJ are evenly matched.
I hope those 4 starters that were out against HJ are healing up for your game this week.  It seems like they are the mainstays of the team.  Sounds like EC would've beat HJ like a drum if they had been healthy.  (BTW, HJ is a 3A team where 75% of the starters play both OF and Def., it's just not limited to 2A and below).  I agree with Mical, HJ might not be a front runner for a playoff berth, but they sure like being in the position to be a playoff "spoiler" for another team.  8)
