  1. our post players are 6'4 and 6'3. why would we put 6'Jones and 6'1 carlos as our post? and if your sayin these two player score there points from the inside then u must got us confused with another sabine.

I guess so we have to agree to disagree.

Bad new to hear for Evadale losing a 6'6ft post now thats great size for basketball at any level.

Courtside do you know any of the tourney Spurger are in?

As of right now Spurger is in the following tourneys; Splendora, Big Sandy, and Spurger

Nederlands Bulldog Classic, And Orangfeilds. I was just wondering if we'll see each other before district.

    What team won state? Tenaha?

Oh my bad whsalum I guess i took that to offence

The coach in spurger tries not to play any district teams before district, just one of those things

that he dont like.Last year we ended up playing Evadale 4 times and he didnt care for that at all.

I would have to find my program form state to remeber the name of the team

that won state,it was not Tenaha

roscoe won state last year. they had about 6 guys and a huge 6'6'' post

  2. Spurger- alot of talent 1-5 but will need to develope a good bench but played alot this summer with only 5-6

Sp-return 4, really well conditioned and a ton of heart

HD-always athletic but not a whole lot of skill

    then who knows...

The top player to watch not in order will be

Whittaker-will be the best athlete in the district and has improved skill over the summer

Blankenship-pure scorer that can shoot the ball from deep

McGallion- the truest pg in the district, can make some nasty passes and shoot the ball when needed

Jones-can go all game and play good D, finds ways to score and has an all around game

Big man HD- will be the focus point of that team, big and can make his impact in the paint

  3. Spurger will be the best team in Woodville this summer.Players to watch will be Whittacre and Blankenship. They probably need to call Duane and get in the Kountze league if they really want to develope, especially the post players.Woodville should also be pretty decent but won't be in the Pirates class.Warren, Colmesneil and the JV club will be pretty even. The league will be pretty even and pretty competetive.

I am not for sure but i think that spurger may play in  the Ktz summer league after woodville is over. What all teams will be in the Ktz summer league?

  4. lakers havent beaten them all year

its different in the playoffs than in the regular season

The lakers have enough big men to give howard trouble and fouls, and they will close out on shooters better than Cleveland because they have bigger faster guards. Kobe Bryant has the lakers ready. Forget the regular season it time for the finals.

  5. Saw Spurger play a couple weeks ago @ Huntington shootout. They looked good. Wish we had the post man..... :'(

How did they come out in the shootout? Was all their starters playing?

Third I believe, but they made a good showing......I think all starters were there.....

3 starters from last season played along with 1junior, 1 8th grader, and 1 freshman that played a little on JV.

Were there starters from last year thats not graduating that weren't there?

All 3 starters from last season that are not graduating were there ;).Dont know exactly who will start for sure in the 2 Senior's spots but about 2 key players were not there. One had to work ::) and the other had family issue.

Should get to see the full team :o in summer league we hope. :-\

  7. It is true you cant teach hieght but just ask yourself this and you'll answer this question. Would you rather have a 5'8'' guard or a 6'4'' guard that can do the same things?

college coaches have a enough player to choose form to get the 6'4'' guard instead of the 5'8'' its that simple.

  8. copeland might not have played great D but i think SP had two guys that played better D than Jones and Copeland other than the big kid from spurger probably was the 2nd best rebounder in the district and wasn't he District MVP last year?

I believe that was his brother.

    Last year...

His brother got Offensive POY and copeland got MVP. This must have been another hard choice becuse Philip had a moster season as a Senior and Copeland great offensively couldnt get his team in the playoffs. Wow I wonder how it will turn out next year without Copeland in the mix.

  9. No they should not......  It is part of the game.... If you don't like the spread, learn how to defend it correctly.  If run correctly, it can devestate a team....

If they do this, they also should outlaw zone defenses, as they make the game boring as well.

well if they dont want a shot clock then they should crack down on refs when calling 5 sec calls on D becuase they never do. It is hard to play solid D and not foul when you never get a 5 sec call.

I am all for a 30 to 45 sec shot clock in high school. I think it would be better for the fans and really pick up the game. Alot of teams are scared to play ball so they get up 1 or 2 and stall. I have seen teams start stalling before the third qrt and it really takes away from the game. Come on who wants to see another 5-3 game. Basketball has progressed into a faster paced game with more offense and less defense. Plus most teams would never worry about the shot clock going off.

  10. I as a player I hate stall ball >:(  I wish that at some point that the state of texas would inlist a shot clock in varstiy basketball.  ;D For most schools a 35 sec shot clock would not even phase them. ::) It would definitly be better for the fans and for players going to the next level. ;D I have seen alot of games turn into a free throw contest  with 5+ minutes to go in the fourth because a team is up 3-4. :-[  As a fan of the game this ruins a good game. :'(  A 35 sec would defenitly make a game more interesting. :o Any thoughts about it, some states already have shot clocks. ???
