  1. 83 ALUMNI:    I AM A W.O.S. FAN, ONLY.  IF YOU READ MY POST YOU WILL SEE THAT I SAID  "AS GOOD AS DUSTIN LONG WAS". I AM SAYING "THATS  A BIG FEATHER IN THE CAP OF W.O.S. PLAYERS".  WHEN PORT NECHES PLAYED IN THE 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, WITH DUSTIN LONG AT QTR. BACK, THEIY HAD A  RECORD OF 14 & 1.THE ONE LOSS WAS TO W.O.S.  WHO HAD "ABOUT" A  5 & 5 record that year.  I SAY AGAIN, "I AM A W.O.S. FAN, ONLY"

Peveto has a little Mike Gundy with his all cap posts. I can see pev at the podium stating his case and yelling “I AM A W.O.S. FAN ONLY†as Gundy did with his “I AM A MAN, I’M 40†rant……dat a boy pev….go get’em  ;D

  2. Ok mine will be a little different. These are guys who I watched play multiple times and & not some one time snapshot. Anyway, I'm going with the players who just popped in my head. Some you have heard of and others....maybe not.

Tony January RB West Orange Chiefs (70's): I remember watching this guy tote the rock as a kid. He was one of my early gridiorn heros. Good times. I remember that climbing up the goal posts to help hold the run-through sign was the coolest thing.

Dodge to Duhon (TJ 80's): Watched them when the Stangs would play TJ & also caught multiple playoff games. It was a beautiful thing to watch.

Ron McGill RB (PN-G 89...I think): Lived in PN & wife is from there so I attended almost all of the PN-Games during this time. I really enjoyed watching him tote the rock. He ran as if his hair was on fire.

Keith Mouton WR/RB/Returner (Katy Tigers 2000): Lived in Katy for 6 years and attended most games. The guy was Mr. Everything for the 2000 state championship team which is the BEST HS football team that I've ever seen.....by far. They dominated from the power I. They could lineup, point to the hole they were going to run through and still kick your tail for 4+ yards.....just beautiful football. Other teams knew what was coming but just could not stop it. This team finished #6 in the nation (USA Today National Rankings)

  3. I'm kinda curious how many state titles WOS has won.  I mean all the people from down their act like they have won all these state titles and all.  That they rule Texas high school football or something.  I'm a Coldspring alum and I really hope they lay one to you guys to put you in your place.  I'm really getting tired of hearing about WOS.  Last year they were supposed to win the title, but really the big thing was to get past Giddings which was on a down year.  Did that then lost.  So I hope my Trojan friends can pull this one out and take all you lovers down one.

Well for starters WO-S has won 2 state titles & is the top all-time football winning percentage in the state of Texas. I could go on and on and on but you can find most of this in the Historical section of this board. To say that Giddings was in a down year is a gross miss-statement. Granted, not as good as the 06 team but still very talented with outstanding players such as LB Alan Dock, QB Brock Fitzhenry (tu signee), and DE Spencer Duncan.

WO-S fans obviously have quite a bit of pride in the program & this is a Southeast Texas football board so maybe that is why there is a little WO-S talk going on……go figure. We are proud of our program as I’m sure y’all are as well down “their†in Coldsprings.

  4. I like the Mustangs chances this year if they can just get by Gilmer. I expect Liberty Hill to reach the state championship game again due to their stiffest challengers (China Spring & Abilene Wyle) going the 3A Div 1 route but the same can be said for WO-S with Navasota in Div 1 as well.

Liberty Hill can be beat this year. It took a minor miracle for them to beat a 4-6 Burnet team at home. Burnet took the lead 29-28 with 26 seconds remaining in the game. A Burnet failed onsides kick and a pass-interference penalty moved LH to the Burnet 27 yard-line. LH then threw a pass that was tipped by two Burnet defenders and right in to the hands of the LH WR with time running out.…..game over….LH wins.

LH runs the Slot-T offense and only passes if they HAVE to. Obviously they run it very well and will try to overpower you between the tackles or in this case between the TE's. I like the Mustangs chances due to them having to only focus on stopping the run & I have faith in Coach Thompson’s ability to slow-down/stop the run. Easier said than done but it helps when the other team does not pose a passing threat.

I’m getting a little ahead of myself here but I do see a Liberty Hill vs. WO-S final.
